A joint televised news conference is held for the first time and is billed as "The Presidential Debates." JFK is elected in a very close election. He will serve approximately 1000 days before being assassinated. The assassination will be investigated by a commission led by former California Governor, (but non-lawyer), US Supreme Court Justice, Earl Warren. Another of the commission members (the Warren Commission) is future President, Gerald Ford.
