"And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed—if all records told the same tale—then the lie passed into history and became truth. 'Who controls the past' ran the Party slogan, 'controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.'" —  1984 - pg 32

Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.

Every time you say "yes" to someone who doesn't deserve it, and go against Yourself and what you value the most, you kill a small part of your essence. ~ LKJ

I live in Washington not far from this. I was reading an article that says they aren't sure why this landslide occured, since we haven't had any heavy rain around here.  Usually the heavy rains we get are what causes the landslides in this area. A man that I work with has a house just 4 houses down from where this slide took out the road.

What a huge mass of Earth!

I know someone that lives in that general area -- one of my FaceBook friends. I don't think she lives right where this happened, but "Whidbey Island" sounds familiar for some reason. I am going to keep an eye on her FB page.

The symbols of "British independence" are crumbling... How more symbolic can it get?
Everything responsible for our "human existence" is due to an anonymous multitude of others who lived before us, whose achievements have been bestowed upon us as gifts.

Indeed. And I guess we will see more of these symbols in the next months...
