When using magnesium to keep your bm's regular, is one form of magnesium better than the other? It's a little overwhelming... citrate, malate, taurate, oil, powder, capsules.

I use pure magnesium citrate powder. It is a little bit sour, but I take it with a big class water and so it is ok.
I buy it here: _http://www.magnesium-pur.de

I have found the namesake of this topic, the book The Magnesium Miracle by Carolyn Dean, to be very helpful. It tells what health problems magnesium can help with and, in the final chapter, reviews the various forms of magnesium supplements and the particular uses of each. I don't see it on the recommended reading list any longer (I suppose it was bumped to make room for newer books!) but it is still a good reference to have on your bookshelf.

I have been taking magnesium glycinate tablets, which are supposed to have less of a laxative effect than some of the other forms (something I very much appreciate on days like today). Actually, my only choices if I buy locally seem to be citrate and glycinate.

Just to share my little experience.

I just went through my first bottle of Magnesium Chloride in a few weeks. I take it in the morning, mixed with any kind of drink (don't try that straight, the taste will disgust you for life, I tried...).

I admit that it gives me an extra kick of energy and focus in the morning at least. Helps wake up and carry on with the day. Didn't feel that prior to taking it. First supplement I take I can say I really feel a difference in the body.

I want to keep at it. Anyone seen a marked difference between the various kinds of Magnesium supplements you take ?

i also use melatonin (2 X 3mg) before bed, but that's a different thread !
