What's the weather where you are?

Same in the Dalmatian part of Croatia, we had only a few sunny days this whole summer.
There was hail, lots of rain. Today, and the past few days, it's been cloudy, windy, and overall
colder than usual.

That doesn't sound too good Persej, stay safe.
 
I have never experienced such an exquisite summer in New Hampshire, and now that I live here it would be great to think this was usual. Which it is as far as temps that go to 85 some days with hardly any humidity except for about 5days.People in Maryland are saying the leaves are turning brown but they are at the very beginning here. It's nights are cool around 50 sometimes and I'm in the mountains. We are still swimming in some of the more supposedly cleaner rivers and I must say that I had a bad burn and something about the water OSIT healed it rather quickly. This one particular river had been a balm. The rain some nights is so heavy i expect there to be bad flooding, but so far no. Some warnings, but nothing serious. The winters are supposed to get rough here and these folk consult the Almanac and are ready for some intense snow and cold. So I'm gonna get snow shoes and other supplies.

The great thing is that coming from NYC, where stars are few and far between due to so much pollutants, here its as if you could touch them. It's as close as I can get to the Canadian Rockies and certainly he Great Pyrenees, but it is a marvelous sight every day. I have not sighted any UFO's although they're said to prefer the Hudson Valley. Can you imagine? Yes, I know most can imagine anything or more and more to say the least.

I want to say if it gets really rough where you are let us know and I'm sure well all help the best way any of us can. By the way I bought a 2 family house and I didn't get it just for me. I'd always imagined if things got really bad at least I could help a SOTT member if need be, who knows, but I'd want it done for me. It gets scary, I really know, and we can help in a lot of ways.

Here's some science to share with your coworkers this morning!

We had a fairly rare event occur across several locations this morning. If we had more observation sites across the state, we likely would've recorded more. The event that occurred is called a Heat Burst!

Here are the ingredients needed for Heat Bursts to occur:

A very dry layer of air needs to exist in the lower to middle atmosphere. Now, look at the graphic. The image in the upper left of the graphic shows a sounding at Chamberlain, SD around 3AM. This just shows us how the temperature and the dewpoint change with height. Notice how the green and red lines separate as they approach the lower atmosphere. This means a very dry air layer is in place just above the ground. The second ingredient we need is a decaying or weak shower/t'storm. Notice the radar image taken at 3 AM (bottom left image). There are scattered echoes near the star which demarcates Chamberlain, SD. These had previously moved through the areas across central and eastern SD.

So what happens?

As the rain falls into the extremely dry and warm layer, it evaporates. As it evaporates, this pool of air starts accelerating toward the ground. Now, something interesting happens. Once all the moisture has evaporated out of the air, there is no more heat to release to the environment. So what happens? It begins to warm dramatically as it accelerates toward the ground. When this happens at night, like last night, the results can be pretty interesting! Here they are...

Chamberlain, SD at 1AM was 74 F with a relative humidity (RH) of 89%. At 2AM, it had warmed to 90 F with an RH of 23 %!! Winds also gusted to 46 mph during that hour. How crazy is that?

Presho warmed to 90 F at 2 AM
Danforth warmed to 87 F at 3 AM
Huron warmed to 91 at 4 AM

These all occurred as the showers shown on radar moved from west to east across the state and in most instances will turn out to be the warmest temperatures these locations reach today!

Northeastern Pennsylvania has experienced high 80's and high humidity this past week with no rain in sight. In my location, it hit 93F and felt like an oven outside. Checking weather reports for a possible indication of rain, I came across this surprising prediction:

Well Here in California we had one of the most hot summers since May..started early, and we are friyng......I can"t wait to have a little cooler weather ..is exhausting here.... :shock:
 
It was chilly in parts of Alberta and the Rocky/Purcell mountains in Canada this past week - snow up to 35cm in parts of Calgary and the Purcell's at elevations. Hard frost last night in the low-lying areas, which spells the end of summer flora well before the "official" fall begins.
 
This is getting crazy. Rain will NOT stop falling here in Croatia. It's intermittent, short periods of normal weather and then it starts falling like crazy. Several villages are floded including some cities because of rivers flooding the area. Crops are floded including some people's homes. People generally say they haven't seen something like this ever.

This summer is out of control.
 
Excessive Hawaiian heat wave that has been ongoing since the latter half of August, with little-to-no relief in any form (/sweating while sitting still indoors). Rain that used to be frequent barely happens even at night. There are many complaints on the various Hawaiian news Facebook pages.

I found on another website an interesting comment:

"You vote for SNS and you get a flood in return. How many times does God have to send you a signal?"

And then response to it:

"Human mind really has no limits. What does politics have to do with this predicament? With any party that would be in power this would happen. That is so ugly and sad. There is no salvation for us with that kind of thinking. We do not need a flood, we ourselves are our greatest evil. Poor people in all of this."

It seems that some people are getting a sense of this human-cosmic connection, but that quickly becomes criticized by pure materialists. Church, on the other hand, would rather blame gay people than politicians.

Poor people in all of this, indeed.

My God, these floods are horrendous and cause so much destruction. And afterwards everything is covered in tons of mud.

This is devastating and these floods are so dangerous.

Added: we are enjoying a couple of summer days or so it seems. Really strange, the trees are shedding their leaves and it is still warm. Some plants start flowering again, just like last year.
