CME maintenance margin hike

I have a subscription to a financial newsletter and I was alerted a couple of hours ago about a possibly wild ride coming Monday, as the CME (the watchdog of the stock exchange) will raise maintenance margins, which will create financial havoc according to insiders.

Apparently, an update was posted the next day stating it was all a big misunderstanding, and poor choice of wording. No, it doesn't sound promising at all. And I still do not understand why the first message was released after everybody had gone home for the week-end. :/
