Learning from a barefoot movement

Here are some clues :

It is about the Barefoot College, in India.

One of their goals is to teach skills that would improve life in a village : dentistry, roofing, solar energy, water management and purification, building etc. And the professors are mostly villagers, without diplomas but with real skills.
Another goal is to teach villagers to provide these services and, having taught them, teach them to teach others, to make a village not only self-sufficient but also self-perpetuating.
And these people develop pride in accomplishment, a sense of dignity, and control over their own future, using cheap and efficient technical means.
The Barefoot Movement is an example of real sharing, far from usual colleges, where women are the movers...
