I think the Ice Age officially begins when we hit the 'point of no return'. That is, when Earth gets hot enough to permanently 'breach' the 'heat convection barrier' (just making up terminology here). I say that the hold-cold-hot-cold pattern will accelerate until we have summer and winter in the same day (or hour) - is that how the mammoth froze with food in its stomach?
When i read this Muxel, i was like, yeah that's probably what we're headed for.

Here in our BC valley, the snow finally melted, raked up the yard and before i could pick it all up we had a storm, another 15cm of snow. At one point it came down like silver dollars in size - have curtailed yard work for a bit.
Man i love being outside when it snows, especially the huge flakes like you've described voyageur, i like to run around & play, or just observe  :cool2: at such times.  ;)

We've had really odd weather here, as well. I'm in Tennessee in the U.S. and we've had the hottest March on record, with temperatures as high as 82-83F (like 28.8C). We're back down into more normal temperatures now, hanging around 70F (21C). March here is usually in the mid-50s to 60s, so I'm thinking we might be in for one heck of a summer.

This winter we got snow from time to time.  Then on the night of April 7, 2012 one of the heaviest amounts of snow that we have had during the brief window into Spring occurred.  And I thought why now? Why not during the winter months when snow enthusiasts cried for it & only got two whole days of snowmobiling? ;D

In central NC, we only had one snow day during the entire winter (can't remember when exactly but likely in Feb) but the next day after it got really hot. A few days ago, we had a weird weather when it was hailing in one area and flash flooding in another (within 10 miles radius), then it stops suddenly and the day went on normally.

I doubt if it is normal this weather: we are in spring and it is snowing here (Spain). How come? Last week we had a temperature around 20 Celsius. Now snow. Is the Ige Age coming sooner than we thought? My, my,my. Is it snowing for you also?  :O

where are you in Spain Loreta, general geographic location?

Odd weather in the north of Belarus as well. Or so I was told by the locals. It's usually normal during early spring to have drastic changes in weather conditions, but here we had several days of really heavy snow alternating with rain. Only now the forecast seems to be toward gradual warming, but will see how it goes.
