UFO Ghost Rockets

--- Quote from: Pashalis on April 19, 2012, 09:23:33 PM ---another possibility of why you can't see the planes before the contrails is the light reflection issue and your point of view while looking at it and how accurate the camera is capturing what it is you are seeing in the sky.
the UFO hypotheses (in the Alien sense) doesn't necessarily have to be the case here.
often things that are thought of as being UFO's (in the Alien sense) are nothing Alien at all and can be explained pretty good rationally.

I agree with this assessment. Airplanes have a reflective surface and depending on the angles of your viewpoint and the sun you may not see them at all. For example, when the sun is somewhere behind the plane, relative to you, you would not see the shadowy bottom of the plane at all since the blue atmosphere makes it disappear. This is also why you cannot see the dark areas of the moon during daytime -- they just are blue. Notice also that the "ghost rockets" seem to only appear at sunset -- maybe only when the angle to the sun is correct? Plus, they always have two exhaust streaks, like airplanes do.
tschai:
I would agree that the "modern" version of the ghost rockets are perhaps contrails from jets or meteor activity...but the original versions were reported in 1946 before the jet engine was in wide use (testing of jet / rocket technology captured from the Germans perhaps?)
The photos certainly look a lot like vapor trails I have seen back lit by rising / setting sun-and sometimes there are remnants of the trails and the plane is long gone by the time they are "noticed" -just a thought

--- Quote from: freespirit on April 19, 2012, 08:50:47 PM ---Of course, we should consider that possibility, but if they are rocks falling through the atmosphere, I would think it´s quite big rocks, and they would crash somewhere, but they never find a piece of it. They seem to just pass through the atmosphere and disappear...
