Sinkhole in Turkey
Kniall:
--- Quote from: Pashalis on April 30, 2012, 08:11:27 PM ---well I can't read Turkish so I can't research it as you might can.
but I just find the way they cut the videos and the angles they present of those sinkhole odd.
this is pointing to the possibility that there is something rotten for me. but that's just a possibility no certainty of course.
I'm not saying that there might be no hole. what I'm saying is that there is the possibility from my constrained viewpoint
that there is something wrongly presented there.

I think you're a bit quick to cry foul here Pashalis. On the balance of probabilities, this is an actual sinkhole being reported. That is, an unusual hole has opened up in the ground, surprising locals and creating enough of a stir to attract media attention.
seek10:
this is scary to watch it in video itself.

I have to admit that I chuckled at Pashalis' standard response to about anything... but it's a good thing that he asks questions!
Anyway, my take on the video was that it was cut together the way it was for the express purpose of being dramatic for a one minute time slot on the news; no other reason for the cutting.
Perceval:
I see no reason to think that it is fake given the preponderance of sink holes these days. As Laura says, it seems that the producers have tried to sensationlise it, typical gutter press tactics, which also simultaneously attracts attention and dissuades any serious research into what is causing such holes.
