Need some advise - VERY strange thing happened tonight

Thinning of the veil. Past life remembrance. Just maybe also perhaps a temporary connection opened with an "other" self as seen from a child's perception?

And apart from what everyone else has suggested, keep an eye on the way to raise your son's FRV, in whatever way that it could be possible for a kid. Just in case. If there was a real entity around (not saying that it was, but keep all possibilties under your radar), raising its FRV would make it harder to influence your kid imho.

Was mulling over how one could do that, apart from the emotional connection and restricting TV habits, but also discussing and building a questioning/curious defence in the child, against illusions. I'm not suggesting that you (Firefly) make a radical child rearing direction just putting my basic thought out there. The right diet would make a good basis for more all-round stability.

Perhaps another possibility could be an attachment (as in Dr. Baldwin and SRT) manifesting in a transitory manner (considering it only was there for 15 mins - although it could be argued that could still be there but only switched on momentarily)

Yikes! That is strange and the hysterical behavior would be very scary for you I can imagine.  When my children are upset at night, I will often guide them through the Prayer of the Soul. I say a line and they repeat it and we do it as many times as necessary until they feel safe again. I've actually written it out on a card for my older daughter and she keeps it in a drawer beside her bed. That might be a way to make both of you feel better if that ever happens again.  Hope that helps!

Meager1, not a chance - I am very vigilant about what he watches on TV. He watches cartoons on Disney or PBS and seen only a handfool of kids movies in his entire life.

As scary as it was - it passed. He is back to his normal bubbly silly 4,5 year old self. I tried to ask him about it the morning after, he didn't seem to care about what happened, at least didn't seem like he was emotionally conneted to the event. But he did say something interesting, when I tried "where you just joking?" angle. He said "Mom, I wasn't the one who made it up - YOU did". And them he dropped the subject and moved on. He never mentioned it again, neither did I. I just rememberd a few episodes from the past - when he was just a little baby, I was changing him one night. He was looking at the ceiling, smiling, waiving at something in the corner and saying "HI", and then laughing and waving again. Another little episode happened when we drove by a cemetery a few years back, before he even knew what a cemetery was - he looked out the window and said "Mom, look at all those people!" Not sure what was happening, but he seems to be OK now and not bothered by the incident. Thank you all for all your support - I really needed it!

Reading this story bringed me the hell of a shiver because it remembered me, doing something pretty similar to my own mother ... we were in holiday, near the sea, and one all of a sudden, just like that, I can see myself telling her
"M'om, you know that i'm not your real child right ?"

Since I was an hyperactive kid with lots of imagination she played my game at the time and asked me questions, then all of a sudden, I forgot why I was talking to her and "back to normal". It's freaky how I remembered that all of a sudden, that was me talking, but I was very sure of myself, almost arrogant, I felt pretty strong all of a sudden, like i was taler than her at that moment (and even i'm twice her size now, she will be always taler than me  )
