Bad feelings about Urbansurvival and George Ure
Appollynon:
I've been keeping up with the site of George Ure for around two years now, and many times have thught that he can be quite a good source of news for the Webbot work from halfpasthuman. However recently I have been getting a knot in my stomach about some of the stories he has held on site, such as heaping praise on Alex Jones and linking to Prison Planet among some of the thing that have turned my stomach. However it wasn't until today I noticed something very odd (even for George's finacial news site) that made me feel really sickened.
What I saw was a small headline that read "Circumsision Lowers Aid's Risk", with nothing more than a link to the news article being run by the Independant Newpaper here in the UK. Now I'm no biologist, so whether such a story is true or not I cannot say for sure(tho I suspect it may be a cover to increase the rate of circumsision in the genral populace), but for a business and financial webpage to carry this story with no comment on it, well I found it pretty disgusting. I say this in light of the research done into what circumsision may really be used to do to young babies (as can be read in the 9-11 truth book) and how to alienate them from the world an there feelings.
So my question is this...Is George Ure's site simply unconsious COINTELPRO or is he maybe getting orders from someone/somewhere? Has anyone here got any opinions on this site?
name:
my impression is that george ure himself and his site urbansurvival.com are strictly "know something at a low level" plus "some insider info" as somebody working in oil biz and interested in stock investments. the alternative, to suspect him of spreading disinfo, lets just say that a) i'd IMHO adjudicate whatever disinfo he spreads to ignorance on his part, and b) there are people on this forum far better at "spotting them" than myself. the only thing i know for sure is that once in the past he posted something about himself/his son which i definitely did not like. no specifics pls.
regarding HPH and their webbot project (HPH and urbansurvival are different people), my impression is that it is computer-assisted tea leave reading. i've read some of the extracts from their webbot runs and i've not been able to make much out of of them, and the given interpretations, well, see and opine for yourself. the subscription price of $250 a hit is serious money, but they seem to have a market. what strikes me as odd is that the webbot project is implemented in prolog (a programming language associated with the artificial intelligence), but that may be because i've never had to do with AI. prolog is a bit yesterday and there is IMO more developed technology available these days to do text/language analysis, but saying that is probably like telling the chef how to manage his kitchen.
here is a description of the project:

still, there is a solid piece of software made by HPH which is IMO a MUST HAVE for people who read lots: their machine assisted reading software, which makes it possible to read at up to 2000 words per minute. the software is described on on halfpasthuman.com. here is a link to the patent of the technology behind that software:

my overall impression is that the people behind HPH are doing respectable and interesting work.
hope that was informative.

Our occasional critic in the Czech Republic (several thousand miles differentiated from here in the sane Republic outback of the Checkbook Republic) has sent another communiqué for us to digest...
Vazený Jíří,
I have a new laptop, purchased here in Prague complete with Czech keyboard. So I can send you email messages with your name in Czech spelled correctly.
I have to give you credit, you do get me thinking as opposed to some of the other respondents. But remember that Americans are not used to thinking, at least for themselves. Clif High’s introduction to the ALTA reports about thinking for one’s self is the most scary thing he has ever written to these people. If that were not the case, you would be doing something else than writing Urban Survival.
First, I see your point in suggesting Krugman or Steiglitz to replace Larry Summers. However, America has no more time left to buy or borrow. In my view, the sooner your country meets its day of reckoning, the better. The rest of the world needs to know that the United States is not capitalist.
Imagine a Christian church whose congregation chooses to burn their bibles and hymn books, remove all crucifixes, and never mentions Jesus ever again. No one in his right mind would call the church Christian.
As Doug Casey said in one of his conversations, the United States needs to go into detox. I can only add that those affected by Americans need purging themselves. This process will not be pretty and it will, by any historical assessment, require at least 40 years. I have no idea how long it will take, given the magnitude of the situation and how much damage will have to be sustained and dealt with, but it is staggering. One can use the number seven as a symbolic shorthand.
So why do we persist in calling the United States capitalist when it is destroying not only its own capital but also everyone else’s? One needs to be very clear on this: American capitalism is neither capitalism nor business nor trade. It is a façade for psychopaths instead. I have to say that there is much more honest business going on in the Czech Republic than in the United States, except in those fields that have come under American influence like finance and information technology.
Your discussion yesterday on the rich and on concentration of wealth leaves out the critical matter of how such people got that money. It is one thing to conceive and develop goods and services of value, that improve the lot of so many people that, even if the good is cheap, the creator ends up fabulously wealthy. Those who achieve riches at others’ expense, by force or fraud are another matter entirely. You make no such distinction.
It does not matter to me if I end up a billionaire—in gold money, not by someone attaching zeroes to the right of numbers. What matters to me is whether or not I live my life and apply my talents and abilities appropriately and if I can meet my commitments and earn a living. I really do not care about who makes what as I have other priorities. What I do care is whether or not I can live in a civilization in an atmosphere of mutual respect, which your nation does not provide, regardless of income level.
You address all sorts of preparations for Doomsday. You have yet to mention psychopathy, or evil. All of those preps mean nothing unless we address this issue of how to deal with those without conscience.
In my experience, it does not tale many psychopaths to ruin a company—in management it takes only one per 300; in a family, one such person will produce a disaster unless identified and isolated. When an entire nation goes psychopathic, the result can be more deadly than an asteroid or comet meeting our planet.
I have investment advice for you: Go to _www.lewrockwell.com and read the serialized version of John Taylor Gatto’s The Underground History of American Public Education. Chapter 15 is crucially important and it is presented today. Gatto comes to the same conclusions as such diverse people like Robert L Kocher’s Analytic Papers (_http://members.mountain.net/theanalyticpapers/), Laura Knight-Jadzyk, and those I have met from these parts and east who have worked and studied in the United States in addition to me from my own observations and experiences.
This dream of self-organizing communities replacing institutions will mean nothing if these communities are of people with the levels of evil will and intent as we see now. What will we have achieved if Americans have made their land so bad that an African watering hole in the dry season be like a formal upper-class men’s club in Pall Mall a century ago in comparison?
S pozdravem,

Ditto. Also, for some time now, he's featured readers' comments that he categorizes as WuJo. These are recent events in the readers' lives that have to do with time loss/gain, misplaced (?) objects searched for frantically and thouroughly that inexplicably reappear in odd places, etc. I find these reports interesting because they seem genuine and they are, if true, highly irregular anomalies in the otherwise well-ordered and regulated lives of these people.
Today, Mr. Ure presented the theory that the "terrorism" fears that are pushed so relentlessly may be a distraction from some future thing/event, possibly having to do with our perception of time.
--- Quote ---All of which leads to a very interesting notion - make a fine plot for a novel, too: Suppose that some group of expert scientists have figured out, based on anecdotal reports like the ones this morning, that pop up all over the internet, have decided they need a way to gather a lot more information - in detail - about these kinds of happenings.
Could that be one of the drivers for huge government databases? Clearly, there's a case to be made that the USA (and Western royalistas) world has gone a bit over the top on anti-terrorism. But what IF that's only the cover story.
Suppose for a moment there is something else going on (I'm working on a novel with this as the plot line, so I've spent a good deal of time thinking about it.)
We don't have time to get into it this morning, but just let that roll around between your ears for a while: What kind of future things/events would be well-hidden by terrorism fears? A global war among religions? End of Oil/Peak Energy war? Some external threat like a Niburu/Planet X? Or, knowledge that the Pacific Tectonic plate really was on the verge of breaking up and that the West Coast would be shattered as a good chunk of California goes sliding into the ocean?
Or maybe it's something much more simple. Maybe it's a slowly propagating realization via a huge mass of humans communicating on the internet resulting in some self-realizations that as a species we might wish to repress. Namely, that we're lost our sense of time, and we've left many things undone, wrongly done, resulting in a global "out of placeness" which now presents itself to us for inspection and correction.

~George Ure (urbansurvival.com)
Maybe I've missed it or forgotten it, but I don't recall seeing this idea put forward. My thinking has been that the entire "war on terror" gig has to do with a drive toward a new and improved brand of fascism, but maybe it's an attempt at misdirection from some of all of the above.
Bear:
I use to read Urbansurvival every day and have found that it doesn't provide much value from my current understanding. I do go there a couple times a week to see if he has posted any interesting links, but grew tired of his commentary. When I was reading Urbansurvival often and doing more web reading of other sites I noticed that he took a lot of his links from what was posted on the Drudge Report and just added his personal take on it. I don't see him as very objective or willing to rock the boat by coming out regularly against the US government on topics such as 9/11. He had made comments to the effect in the past that he was afraid at some level to do so. I don't think he is a conscious agent, but just doesn't look deeper into issues to the point that he says some pretty ridiculous things and posts disinformation from the sites that we here see as questionable.
edit added: it is from urbansurvival linking to a now defunct blog, Deconsumption, that linked to SOTT that I found my way to reading SOTT back in 2004.
