We just had a small earthquake

About an hour ago...which is rather odd for our area.  I had to check to make sure it was an earthquake and not something major blowing up somewhere.  It was a 2.0, and the epicenter was less than 10 minutes from our place:

There was also a little earthquake also in my region, in Spain, Salamanca region. Yesterday around midnight. Some village around feel it very strongly even if the earthquake was just 4. I did not feel it but a stack of books in my room suddenly fell and I asked myself: how come? Supposedly the center of this earthquake was in Portugal, near the frontier. This earthquake is very strange because there is never earthquakes in this region. So even here things like that happen!

There were a few low tremors in Chalco’s Valley (Edo. Mexico), that’s between Mexico City and the Popocatéptl volcano.

From this page (spanish)_http://www.reporterosenmovimiento.com/?p=17765#more-17765, I observe by the comments, that people are afraid and would like to know more, since the tremors –as the news says- had just happened in Cahlco’s Valley and the authorities had not informed the whys, they can just estimate that they had occurred in the area between Cuatlalpan-Xico  and Huitzilzingo, both in the State of Mexico (between Mexico City and Popocatépetl).

Several comments mention that the earth is moving like gelly, there is an explanation that the tremors respond to the release of energy of the subsoil, that people should not be afraid –although if the tremors continue they ought to closed the gas the lights and get out of their homes, of curse, as it happends people might wonder if there is not another volcano in their way, like the Paricutín, since it came out of nowhere in the 50’s _http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Par%C3%ADcutin

And Popcatépetl volcano had not been stopped its activity.

During the last 24 hours, the monitoring systems has registered 65 exhalations accompanied by steam and gas and minor amounts of ash. One of the most important occurred yesterday at 12:00 h (see image)(see image) and today at 00:30 h (see image), 08:25h (see image), 09:34h (see image).

At the moment of this report the volcano cannot be seen due to dense clouds. However, during previous hours a steam column was observed(image). Also, it was possible to observe incadescence over the crater rim during the night(image).

The alert level remains at Yellow, Phase 3.

We just had one here in the San Francisco North Bay...although earthquakes in California are not uncommon. I felt some light tremors as the Geysers epicenter is about 35 miles N from where I live.

Hope your critters are okay, Guardian. My kittykat was acting agitated an hour or so before the first tremors arrived.
