Interesting article, Odyssey!

Thinking about it I do believe it is troublesome especially on an empty stomach I get a mild pain and gargaling in my stomach but if I chew right after a meal for a little bit I don't get the negative physical effects as I believe the stomach acids are already present from the food and on empty they are being released and have nothing to break down...Now that can't be healthy

Trident gum says that it helps prevent cavitys and I think it has the safer type of artificial sugars will stick with that brand on occasion after a meal

The artificial sweetener in Trident gum is sucralose, which is held suspect because of a lack of credible testing and the fact that it is chlorinated sugar.  Chlorine's ill affect on health has been substantiated for quite some time.

I get bad breath more often since I switched to the Paleo diet even though I take a B-complex supplement three times a day, as was recommended in the Life Without Bread thread for people with bad breath.

I've searched for gum without aspartame and all the Trident gum I've ever seen has aspartame in it.  I chewed Stevia Dent (_http://www.amazon.com/SteviaDent-Peppermint-Gum-packs-case/dp/B001GWVOTM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1340660091&sr=8-1&keywords=stevia+dent) for a while, but it starts tasting bad after about five minutes.  It seems the gums with stevia/xylitol sweeteners in them lose their taste rather quickly.

A few days ago I bought this spearmint organic Breath Tonic _http://www.herb-pharm.com/store/product_info.php/products_id/324  It's gluten-free and tastes okay, but isn't that great, IMO.  There is grain alcohol in it that is made from corn, but I don't think its been bothering me.

These xylitol mints seem to have good reviews and they are very low in carbs (less than a carb each I think): _http://www.epicdental.com/c-11-xylitol-mints.aspx?9gtype=search&9gkw=xylitol%20mints&9gad=5175600786.1&9gag=707793794&gclid=COb7sPGs6rACFRGEhwodLyMuxA but they have magnesium stearate, which I unfortunately still consume in some of my supplements anyway.  I'm considering trying the peppermint flavor if this spray doesn't work.

Well, I just wanted to post up the products I've already tried and offer my reviews on here.

In my case I want to cover the cigarette breath in my mouth but since almost every chewing gum has bad sweetening I will try to put in a little spray (I have months looking for one) some alcohol, water, xilitol, some drops of freshmint oil and see how it going

I use peelu gum, which is xylitol and peelu tree bark. And for mints I use ricochet xylitol mints .

The mints are half a carb so I eat two at a time, and they dissolve fast, like 30 seconds. The gum is only flavorful for a few minutes and is 1 carb.

Chewing on mint leaves is great as a breath freshener and tooth whitener. If you chew and swallow it, it also can benefit a sour stomach (as well as several other benefits.) Plus it's very easy to grow.

Thanks for the info, everyone!  Your ideas inspire me to play around with different options.  So far I've found the spearmint flavored Herbal Breath Tonic (_http://www.amazon.com/Spearmint-Herbal-Breath-Tonic-Spray/dp/B005JW1G1Q/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1342988708&sr=8-3&keywords=herbal+breath+tonic) to be great at killing bad breath.  It is made with organic herbs, but has "58-68% grain alcohol," which according to their website (_http://www.herb-pharm.com/faqs.html), is made from corn.
