Sorry
Jean d`arc:
Please, what I write, take not personally. I am irritated by the names and pictures of the people. Very much with pleasure I wanted to use a picture of myself as an Avatar because the picture stands for my name. First I wanted to take as user names my name, but I had the feeling(emotion) that I am not able to do this from respect for Laura and her(their) man. Names and faces(visions) are for me also a truth, how everything other also. I can be called not different(extraordinary), this would be a lie. I take only one picture of me - this is I. If I give myself another name, it is for me as if I my identity denies. Excuse me, I am Anne and would want that my opponent sees who I am. I hope, you understand this and do not evaluate this as a token from arrogance.
Thanks
Anne

Nachtweide, if I understand correctly, are you saying that the use of anonymous forum names and avatars is what bothers you? To put things in perspective, please try to understand that on this forum anonymity is often very important. A few users do use pictures of themselves as avatars, but I'd say that in most cases it isn't recommended, even for the simple reason that a lot of people in life would take issue with many of the topics discussed here. Often personal issues are discussed that are best kept anonymous. So if it bothers you, try to keep that in mind. Also keep in mind that sincerity with everyone is a weakness, as Gurdjieff said. Sometimes it's best to keep a low profile, even if it goes against our 'likes and dislikes'.

This is very true. If you read through many members' stories (search "strategic enclosure") you'll find how important it is to be cautious about sharing the learning that you are doing here. As exciting and liberating the information here is, most people aren't ready for it. The reactions can range from disbelief to downright hostility. So we learn in silence most of the time and share it with the folks here, who have journeyed here because they are ready for it. To keep one's identity hidden is a form of protection for one's self, and external consideration for those in one's "real life".

Yes, and actually, I have often thought about CHANGING my user name for this very reason, to make it more anonymous. Though thankfully, the only person with access to my computer who might see that I've been here, though not on here himself, does not mind my participation and is very open to a lot of the ideas here. Still, as I said, I have wondered about making my name more anonymous.
Akar:
Never thought about it that way, since i registered i have used both my name and real pic, but it make sense to change it. Well, on my way to do so.
