In my morning poke about the internet, I stopped in at James Mc Canney's home page and found the following quote:

'July 01, 2012 posting ... EMERGENCY POSTING ... AT AROUND 3:30 PM YESTERDAY SATURDAY JUNE 30 ... ALL THE SOLAR FEEDS AND WEB PAGES FROM NASA AND OTHER SOURCES WENT OFF LINE ... TO BE MORE SPECIFIC ... NOT ONLY THE DATA FEEDS BUT THE ENTIRE ACCESS TO THE WEB PAGES WENT COMPLETELY OFF THE INTERNET ... THIS IS UNPRECEDENTED IN THE HISTORY OF NASA HIDING DATA AND PULLING SATELLITE FEEDS ... THEY USUALLY JUST PULL A CAMERA OR 2 OFF LINE ... BUT THIS TIME ALL THE WEB PAGES ARE COMPLETELY OFF LINE ... THAT IS ALL WE KNOW AT THIS TIME ... stay tuned for more ... jim mccanney'

I went to their website quickly and didn't notice anything now but I wasn't very thorough.
I thought this was quite interesting if true and makes me wonder what NASA is up to now? I'm sure it's nothing considering it's  such a reputable institution ;)

If I find anything else, I'll update but for the next while I'll be in full parent mode- Feel free to pick up the ball to see where this goes fellow forumites!

Apart from the storms and the power outages, there also was the leap second adjustment in the night of 30 June - 1 July which seems to have caused problems for many servers and databases worldwide.

Well it seems that crazy storm did cause quite a few problems. FWIW here's Mc Canney's follow-up post that does address the weather from another angle:

"July 02, 2012 posting ... something very strange is going on !!! washington DC was hit with an unpredicted and major wind storm that took out all the power for over the next week (over the 4th of july) ... shuts down DC the nation's capitol ... i have been watching weather lately and there was NO REASON FOR THIS STORM ... looks like someone has been playing with our laser satellites ... HMMM ... as noted below all the feeds of the NASA and other solar observing satellites have been taken off line (as of this past saturday afternoon) ... not just the availability of the satellite feeds and data ... but the entire web sites ... then even stranger ... certain web sites that we have always known were government sponsored mouthpieces start spewing out warnings of imminent earth wide disasters due to solar flares and guess what ... they seem to have had access to the solar feeds all along when no one else could get on these web sites ... (won't name the web sites that have been spewing these dire warnings to allow any notoriety or free advertising but many of you know who they are) ... if you see warnings in either emailings or web pages then you know they are gov sponsored cause none of the rest of us have had access to this information ... BUT to push the strangeness meter to full tilt ... the solar flares that they are reporting are MINOR insignificant solar flares .... the type that occur all the time and really are nothing to write home about let alone call a national emergency ... and these flares are due to hit earth according to these web sites on ... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JULY 4TH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! remember i always said that i was expecting a false flag "solar flare hits earth and causes massive power outage" would be used to shut down this place and NOTHING COULD MOVE !!! well my prediction is already coming true as washington DC is already done for the count and out of a clear blue sky comes this major wind storm ??? HMMMMM ... i don't know and i do not like to make predictions BUT the strangeness meter is now off scale ... keep tuned for updates ... jim mccanney"

Very strange statement indeed. I toured the usual websites and found no dire warnings for tomorrow, it is as usual.
The geomagnetic disturbances are surely behaving in a unusual manner. Jet-stream circulation is related to solar activity and it drives weather conditions. The bizarre weather noticed almost everywhere is a sign that something is happening.
In this context, it looks like J. Mccanney is quick to to draw conclusions about human interference, while the most likely important causes may be related to Earth (and solar) changes.

Yes, especially those I would say.

Edited to add:
It seems Google has found an interesting work around solution for this specific problem in what they call a 'leap smear' - i.e. they take a whole day for synchronizing their servers automatically in order to bypass fall out problems and the like for any of them.

I wonder why he can't get on the NASA websites?  I can...  It's interesting how a person can build an entire delusion on one false piece of data...

Yes, this storm was bizarre, but he does sound seriously unhinged.

It sounds to me that McC cannot control his emotions and/or
his fears should he lose his obsessive dependency to the Internet
(NASA, ...) and blames everything on the government straight
away instead of remaining calm and perhaps methodically start
debugging the connection.

Just think what it might be like for those who become too
obsessed/dependent on social sites, cell phones, TV, or
whatever else - to the point of becoming completely unhinged
should any of these things stop working?

Maybe in situations like these, one ought to get out the lawn
chair, smoke a cigar/ette, pipe, drink iced tea, meditate
and/or relax and enjoy the scenery or watch the fireworks? :)
