I just keep the pot in the fridge, and I make it boil again few minutes every 3 days or so.

Do you boil the whole pot? If so, one thing I've learned from childhood was that you should never re heat food more then once. Having researched about it after I grew up, constant reheating seems to work similarly to thawed food that you freeze again, it gives greater chance for bad bacteria to form and in the case of reheating, some can indeed survive high temperatures. Not only that, but if I'm correct, food can lose nutritional quality with constant reheating.

I find freezing to be the best option for me. I freeze my broth (and all food cooked in quantity) in small containers so that I can just take one portion out of the freezer, and have that as a meal.

Another thing I have recently heard on a podcast by Sarah Pope was that bone broth should never be re heated on the microwave.

Not only that, but I have to admit that I always felt uneasy about having radiation leaching into my food...it just doesn't sound natural to me. As I see it, besides nutritional content food has energy, perhaps that's correlated. The energy of a chicken confined to a cage, unable to move whilst being force fed until she can barely fit inside, will surely be different from the energy of a chicken that is free to roam and eat as she pleases. Similarly, wouldn't then, having the food I'm about to eat exposed to some sort of radiation corrupt its "energetic structure"? All questions I haven't really researched into yet, so my unsupported thoughts may have no basis. In any case I've ditched my microwave a week ago and am now using pots and pans to reheat everything. In the meantime, some research is in place.

What works for use here (household of 4) is to make a large pot of broth, keep it in the fridge, and ladle out whatever portions we're going to eat at a meal, which we heat in a smaller pot over the stove. Lasts a few days, and we haven't had a batch spoil yet.

Maybe it is a part of the diet to clean itself partially by the skin. I would like to be able to help you on this, but I do not know specifically why these happen to you. Are you sure about the quality of your fats and bones? Fwiw.

Oh! No...it wasn't from eating the broth. I ran out of broth for a week....had none left in the freezer etc. So I went a week without having any broth at all, and problems cropped up.

I was an idiot, and thought I had more in the freezer than I did, and ran out. We also had no money to get more bones, so I had to wait until payday to go back to the butcher store. :-[

It was very tough not having broth every day, I do not recommend skipping it or doing without it.

Same with me. Broth doesn't last long for me, but I prefer to eat gelatin cold than hot. only thing is fat on broth top will be cold unless i heat it. large batch of meat gets spoiled in fridge in three days. so I end up store the cooked meat in freezer.

Dr Jack Kruse on his latest blog (jackkruse.com/jacks-blog/), Brain Gut 12, stresses the importance of brain specific nutrients. That shellfish and seafood is critical with a ketogenic diet - especially in the dark half of the year, as is iodine critical - its absence being a problem in low-carb/high protein diets (ketogenic).

Iodine is a major antioxidant in human cells and humans are (paleo ancestors were) designed to eat a marine diet (eg, shellfish loaded with iodine) to lower the oxidative state in our cells to support the metabolic rate of our nervous system. Especially in winter a diet high in iodine is required to assist the working of the brain, heart and nervous system. Meat and offal do not provide this iodine source. It appears that nutrient density for mammals with complex nervous systems (humans, dolphins, whales) require high levels of DHA and iodine (as in seafood template).

DHA is an essential fatty acid critical to cell membrane signalling and structure, and iodine is a good protector of all lipids in all cells.

He goes on to write about the effectiveness of saturated solution of potassium (iodine) in treating infections, cysts, hemorrhoids, and thyroid problems, and thyroid hormone are critical for brain development and functioning.

Research doctors he mentions are: Renko Kuiper, Stephen Cunnane (Survival of the Fattest), Crawford and Tobias, so far, in books anyway, I've only found Cunnane.

Well then you'd best not cook, let alone reheat, your food on a stove. The radiation from that is even shorter in wavelength than that from a microwave!

If you have any concerns about using a microwave, don't use one.

When I can, I heat food over the stove, not because of "radiation," the absence of which would prevent heating, but because the stove provides temperature control for gradual heating, where the microwave can only be full-on or off as it cycles. That can be true to some degree of an electric stove as well, if it is the type that cycles on and off to control temperature, but the mass of the burner and the pot or pan helps even out the temperature in that case.

From I am in KD, I food of the fish (sardines) happened to me only only once. For the reasons specified by Dr Kruse (and also by anart here or in the LWB thread, I cannot remember). I thus increased my consumption of salt, but of course it is not question here of salt sophisticated or added by fluorine or by iodine.

Could the Celtic Sea Salt (when it is unrefined, unwashed, untreated, additive-free...) be enough to compensate for the lack of iodine? I guess it does as it did during many thousands of years:

I began to make reserves of this salt, in the same way as some soaps or candles. Furthermore, it is the one that I use to air certain pieces of meat, as the one that I get ready to make this week with some bacon. Also the same I use each morning with a big glass before all.

I decided several months ago to not use my micro-wave anymore. Maybe I am wrong but it is also a shape on returning to the nature, to the time that passes by cooking, the pleasure of the slowness rather than that of the speed. I already won a lot of time with KD because I do not spend my time to go to markets and food, so I do consider that a little bit more time is not really a big deal.

Isn't there radiation even from a bonfire/campfire ? Isn't heat itself the expression of radiation?

Great to hear about so many people's progress! Mac, Megan, dugdeep, nickelbleu, etc. (and Gimpy, I hope you start feeling better again when you have broth. It really IS essential. But in your case, I think it applies even more, and that you need time to heal, patience and being good to yourself!)

FWIW, I experienced the same as you for about a week. I just couldn't eat more. I lost a bit more weight. Every time I tried to force myself to eat a bit more protein, I got extremely tired. So we need to still take it as an experiment, adapt according to what our bodies tell us, and see what happens.

I'm on my 6th week of ketosis, and there are still days when I feel tired and with cramps. Others I am turbo charged! Que sera sera... ;)

One thing is sure. The benefits are so visible overall that I'm not looking forward to going back to eating carbs. Perhaps occasionally, but this is THE diet my body seems to like. It is fascinating how it is literally 100% opposite of what is promoted by doctors nowadays. We shouldn't by surprised, given all the other "conspiracies" we know about. But the lies about nutrition are just the best conspiracy of all, IMO. People even PAY to get poisoned! And they never suspect it. Forget about aliens, chemtrails, whatever. The enemy is right in your plate!

Just my personal experience so for what it's worth but I think this tends to happen at the beginning when the body is starting to get used to switching over fuel. Once you get over the hump by slowly increasing (maybe increase the fat incrementally over a few days or so), you can tolerate much more to the point where you're able to exist on broth and fat with very little meat if any at all for at least a few days. So be patient with yourself as your body goes through this process.

Same here. I prefer to heat on the stove, but there is no "radiation" in microwaved food. I've never seen a real scientific study that shows any such microscopic or atomic data, only rather hysterical claims.
