Civil War in Ukraine: Western Empire vs Russia

From: http://www.sott.net/article/278513-Washington-responsible-for-fascist-massacre-in-Odessa

Russia called another emergency UN Security Council meeting Friday to denounce Ukraine's actions. Moscow's ambassador, Vitaly Churkin, warned of "catastrophic consequences" if the military operation continued, only to be denounced by his US counterpart, Samantha Power, who called the attack "proportionate and reasonable."

Power, who made a name for herself by championing US military interventions in Libya and elsewhere in the name of "human rights" and the "protection of civilians," declared that Russia's concern about escalating instability was "cynical and disingenuous." In keeping with US government propaganda since the beginning of the crisis, she baldly asserted that Russia was the cause of the instability.

I keep thinking of the chilling picture of the pregnant woman who was strangled to death in the Trade Unions building and coming back to the statement above from Samantha Power calling the attack "proportionate and reasonable". As the article mentions above she was a major force behind the US's overthrowing of Qaddafi for the "protection of civilians", and look how that turned out! She actually has some kind of reputation as a humanitarian journalist because she's written about how world governments should work to avert genocide:

_http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samantha_Power

When she returned to the United States, she attended Harvard Law School, receiving her J.D. in 1999. The following year, she published her first book, Realizing Human Rights: Moving from Inspiration to Impact (edited with Graham Allison), a compilation of essays by leading human-rights scholars and practitioners. Her second book, A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of Genocide, grew out of a paper she wrote while attending law school. The book won the Pulitzer Prize for General Non-Fiction and the J. Anthony Lukas Book Prize[5] in 2003. It offers a survey of the origin of the word genocide, the major genocides of the 20th century, as well as an analysis of some of the underlying reasons for the persistent failure of governments and the international community to collectively identify, recognize and then respond effectively to genocides ranging from the Armenian Genocide to the Rwandan Genocide. This work and related writings received criticism from the historian Howard Zinn for downplaying the importance of "unintended" and "collateral" civilian deaths that could be classified as genocidal;[6] and by Edward S. Herman[7] and Joseph Nevins[8]

So far, she's batting 1000:

Speaking in September 2013, Power told a news conference that the American intelligence findings “overwhelmingly point to one stark conclusion: The Assad regime perpetrated an attack.” She added, “The actions of the Assad regime are morally reprehensible, and they violate clearly established international norms.

She's another one of these political animals who wraps themselves up in the facade of being "progressive" or "humanitarian" in order to serve the elite agenda (whether they realize it or not). No wonder she fits so well into the Bam Bam's Administration. The icing on the cake of Power's bio though is who she is married to.

It was a planned attack, militants and violence is not random, observers believe. Analyzing the events of recent weeks, many recall that not so long ago came to Odessa famous oligarch Igor Kolomoisky.

"Near Odessa in sanatoriums lives some 1,400 mercenaries, usually of" hundreds of Maidan ", ie former lumpen who are now distributed weapons and documents. They are called the National Guard, but as they were criminals, so they remained. Basically it natives or the countryside, or Galicia, Lviv region. Taking advantage of an opportune moment - the arrival in Odessa for the match Kharkov "Metalist" to Odessa "Chernomorets" some quantity of Kharkiv fans - took to the streets and these people who like waiting in the wings "- says Vershinin.

Locals confirm the words to redeploy fighters nationalists in Odessa. They were imported under the guise of fans, and they just flooded the city during the attack on the House of Trade Unions.

"What Odessites? Did you know that under the guise of two fans brought? On the same boast. And we saw ourselves at 2am, then they shouted. And two more buses arrived, when all were dead. Since then they have there went there still trashed, "- said the woman, survivor of the massacre.
About Igor Kolomoisky one can read here: _http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ihor_Kolomoyskyi
RT reports that the Jews of Odessa feel insecure: _http://rt.com/news/156792-odessa-jews-evacuation-plans/ Kolomoyskyi may need to sponsor them too.

I wrote above that this bloody oligarch Kolomoysky - he just takes itself all business in Ukraine. first he raked currently Kharkiv region (and "accidentally" shooting occurs in Gennadiy Kernes, Governor of Kharkov, which was on the side of Yanukovych, but then the big bucks will pull to the side of the junta. Kernes and now in Israel), then Zaporozhye, and now through this bloody harvest takes Odessa. again, it is the largest port in the country, and the city is known for its "entertainment services" - on local data, there daily arrive from Turkey and border countries tourists looking for sex services and players in the casino. Odessa is the largest market in the country, "7-th km" (see: the corpses of the House of Trade Unions were taken to the site "6th mile" - that is, the city and the entire region is controlled by Kolomoyski insurgents). Interior Minister Avakov yesterday in a conversation with him new police chief appointed in Odessa, said that the market must now "fronting" ("roof be") by other people.

RT published an article about the renovation projects in Crimea and other locations in Ukraine.

US Navy cancels charity projects in Crimea
_http://rt.com/news/154180-us-navy-crimea-charity/

Until quite recently the US military has been allocating American taxpayers’ money to reconstruction of public offices on the Crimea Peninsula, while it was still autonomous within Ukraine.

Back in September 2013, the US Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) published a solicitation (drafted in June) on Federal Business Opportunities website (Solicitation Number: N33191-13-R-1240) to renovate School #5 in Sevastopol.

Why NAVFAC Europe and Southwest Asia would spend the US military budget funds to renovate public installations in Crimea is an open question, yet the idea that this was made out of pure charity is doubtful.

The Voice of America website in Russian maintains that such renovation projects is a normal practice for the US military, which also has similar projects for Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria (several kindergartens renovated in 2011), Georgia, Latvia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia.

Yet practically all these countries are either NATO members (Albania, Bulgaria, Latvia, Romania), or have American military bases deployed on their territory. For example there are three American military bases in Bulgaria, one in Romania, and, reportedly, an unspecified number of American military instructors in Georgia, whereas America’s Camp Bondsteel base in Kosovo is the US largest military installation in Europe and covers the territory of such countries as Albania, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.

The citizens of Sevastopol never liked the presence of the US Navy in the region, but the US government opted to try its chances and invest funds of the national military budget into a country that Washington was never supposed to have military relations with.

However, the US presence in Ukraine continues, as reportedly there are eight humanitarian projects underway, mostly in western Ukraine, which largely supports the coup-imposed government in Kiev, the Voice of America reported.

(My guess, U.S. and NATO wanted to turn the Crimea into a massive military/navy/intelligence complex while controlling the rest of Ukraine?)

That being said, thanks to all of you for contributing to this thread.

As much as I hate seeing people suffer, I think I'm feeling more hope than ever by this turn of events in Ukraine.

Not a fool's hope though. The world is still on course to be engulfed in flames. Just a sense of hope that comes with the kinda global mirroring process Russia's actions have brought about.

Not quite sure how to express it :/

Painful, awful, horrible, depressing...

Hope !!! Hoping that the Universe would do its clean-up pretty soon.

The depressing thing to me is I still continually meet so many black and white thinkers have been conditioned that everything, including even this latest atrocity, is somehow Russia's fault.

In their simplistic world, the "good guys" are always "over here" (leaders in the West) and the "bad guys" are "over there" - whomever the mainstream media says it is.

A request to anyone who are my facebook friends: can you please give me a lot of likes on the story I posted (How the thugs killed Odessa inhabitants in the Trade Unions House - the details of bloody scenario) about this latest atrocity?

There are a couple of guys who think in this black and white way who are posting there and laughing at me. So by putting a lot of likes on the story helps give me the subtle social proof. This is mainly for the other people who might see my feed, not for these two guys, they are stuck where they are.

Remember I posted here this article recently? DIA is to fire its Head for failing to predict "Putin's takeover of Crimea".

Defense Intelligence Agency Chief Michael Flynn to Step Down

WASHINGTON—The head of the Defense Intelligence Agency will step down this year, after a tenure pushing for broad changes in how military intelligence is collected and used, the Defense Department said.

Gen. Flynn's expertise is in counterterrorism and counterinsurgency, officials said. While he had begun to shift his agency's focus beyond those areas, some lawmakers have criticized the DIA for failing to predict Russian President Vladimir Putin's takeover of the Crimean peninsula.

Code Cracked: Mysterious NSA Tweet Is Decrypted in Seconds

May 6th 2014

NSA's recruiting office sent out a mystifying tweet Monday morning, prompting observers to question whether perhaps the agency had sent the nonsense message by accident. But on closer inspection, the tweet turned out to be a code designed to lure in would-be cryptographers — though by cipher standards, it's a pretty simple one.
...
This type of cryptogram is among the oldest and simplest, one version of it having been used by none other than Julius Caesar.
...
The message is:

"Want to know what it takes to work at NSA? Check back each Monday in may as we explore careers essential to protecting our nation."

Not quite as disappointing as "Don't forget to drink your Ovaltine," but still not as exciting as people might have hoped.
...
When contacted for more information, an NSA spokesperson wrote in an email to NBC News that the coded tweet is not in fact the first, and is "part of recruitment efforts to attract the best and the brightest."

http://www.nbcnews.com/tech/security/code-cracked-mysterious-nsa-tweet-decrypted-seconds-n97546.

These are the "efforts to attract the best and the brightest"?

Idiots :cool2:

They are only capable of shedding blood all over the world, dumba**es

This has happened before, no matter if they share a history with me, sometimes being friends from my childhood, these black and white thinking authoritarian follower types inevitably just unfriend me. However for the moment that they post, they actually serve a useful purpose: their own words can possibly serve as a good example to the thinking people in my friends list who might happen to see the news feed. These authoritarian followers dig their own hole and expose themselves.

However if they get to be a royal pain, I put them into a separate group I called "stuckinthematrix" which are excluded from my normal postings, so as not to invite them to comment.

EDIT add: Although I tend to just imply they are ignorant rather than say so bluntly, so as to avoid flame wars.

Ukrainian radicals have put a bounty out on RT stringer Graham Phillips, who is currently working in the east of the country. Also a camera-man working for RT in Odessa has been informed about being on the radicals' radar.

“Myself I have received threats putting a bounty on my head to be kidnapped and that has been offered from [the city of] Dnepropetrovsk, as I understand, connected to the Right Sector,” Graham Phillips confirmed while reporting live from the city of Slavyansk.

The Right Sector reportedly offered $10,000 for the capture of “a Russian spy.”

The ultra-nationalists also have a cameraman working for RT in the violence-gripped city of Odessa on their radar, RT's Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan confirmed in a statement.

“Our camera-man-stringer in Odessa received a call from the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU). [They] said that he is now on the radar of the Right Sector. [His] former colleagues gave him up. SBU said that the Right Sector now has all his phone numbers and addresses. They gave him up for his anti-Maidan views which he never kept secret,” Simonyan posted on her Twitter.

RT's Editor-in-Chief’s statement comes after the channel’s correspondent Irina Galushko said on her Twitter that the camera-man she is working with had received threats.

On May, 4, RT’s correspondent posted:

Foreign journalists working in Ukraine have been subject to an unfolding witch-hunt in Ukraine with assaults and intimidation of reporters intensifying recently.

In one of the latest incidents Lifenews journalists Julia Shustraya and Mikhail Pudovkin, were abducted by armed Ukrainian Security Service members, after they filmed an interview with one of the leaders of the pro-federalization movement in Ukraine. They were detained and later deported to Russia.

On April 21, Simon Ostrovsky, a journalist for the New York-based Vice News, was also detained by self-defense forces in Slavyansk. He was held captive for three days and questioned. He was then released.

Several days after, on April, 24, the SBU said a Russian and a Belorussian national, both employees of the Russian NTV channel have been detained in the city of Pershotravensk in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

On April, 26, the heads of Russia's major TV corporations, including RT, called on human rights organizations to “defend the professional rights of journalists working in Ukraine.”

“Ukraine’s Donetsk, Lugansk, Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk and other regions are witnessing the ruthless suppression of civil liberties on a daily basis. Journalists are being threatened with their lives if they continue to report from Ukraine,” the letter reads, signed by the heads of All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK), NTV, REN TV, Channel 5, RT and News Media.

“The new Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly taken illegal actions barring our staff journalists covering the Ukraine crisis from performing their professional duties and violating their human dignity,” the letter said.

I think your input was good. It's not always easy to explain how you have developed a discernment and "nose" to know what information is more plausible than others. To do that you'd need to reference dozens of books you've read, discussions you've had etc. This - not being able to explain WHY I see things as I see it, bothers me often quite a lot.
