How Wolves Change Rivers

:cool2:I saw this recently as well it certainly gifts one an appreciation for the complexity and interconnected was of ecology.

Caught this on SoTT, so thanks for posting, Tristan.

It really is amazing how we so often can fail to see the totality of the intricate symbiotic relationships within nature, and just point out false causes for populations in flux, or to lay blame by species for damaged environs that we then think we can master and fix. In the case of wolves, the fix is to depopulate in favor of ungulates for instance.

In the case of land planners, when it came to issues of desertification (many types/causes), was to banish the target of their perception of causes; generally livestock or wild herds roaming and foraging. They removed or culled those and the problems exacerbated.
