Ebola

The Living Force
SOTT is already reporting this:

http://www.sott.net/article/276716-Ebola-outbreak-kills-83-in-Guinea-spread-unprecedented

Thought it's best to open a thread on this outbreak due to its unique nature compared to other outbreaks - not in terms of the numbers affected but rather in terms of the spread.

Also they have no idea how it ended up in Guinea, a country where there has never been an Ebola outbreak in the past.

_http://www.virology.ws/2012/01/18/how-lethal-is-ebolavirus/

Of the pathogens that keep worried scientists awake at night, few rival Ebola for ruthless efficiency. The virus contains just seven genes, yet it manages to kill up to 90 percent of the people it infects.

Re: Ebola Outbreak in Guinea

I think I is an excellent idea to start a thread about Ebola. I am a little scare about it, specially after reading the excellent book by Richard Preston, The Hot Zone. And I think this book gives a lot of information about Ebola, how it works, how it kills and how this virus is considered the "Queen" of the virus in this planet, old as old as the earth itself. How it appears and disappears is a mystery, yet. And one of the worst strain of Ebola is the Ebola Zaire, the same that is now present in Guinea.

How to control and contain Ebola? Why now Ebola is in West Africa? Is it possible to contain Ebola in a world so connected by a net of airplanes, trains, cars? Many questions. In the book of Preston we learn that Ebola was studied by the USA army, some Ebola arrived in Washington via apes coming from Philippines. So they know about Ebola more then we think. Is Ebola used for something that we don't know? Can it be used?

There is a lot of information about virus in the book of Preston, how they work and how, in a sense, they are fascinating little things. How, in a sense, they are here as a sort of response against us, humans. A sort of fight between us and virus on this planet. They are older than us, were there before us. And one of the conclusion but also a question of the book is that Ebola is maybe deciding that it is time for humanity to disappear, time to put order, time to kill this species (humans).

The complexity of Ebola is strange. Sometimes it kills, and when it kills it is huge. Sometimes it just kills apes, like when in Washington. Sometimes it kills via air, sometimes no. Some scientists in the book that Preston interview told that there is the possibility that Ebola can return and kill like the virus of the Black Death.

So I was reading this morning that Morocco is taking steps to protect itself against Ebola.

http://www.sott.net/article/276681-Morocco-steps-up-guard-after-Ebola-outbreak-in-Guinea

Is it possible to protect a country against this super nova virus? I doubt. Maybe Ebola is a sign of these times, really.

Even than, is it Ebola that is now in Guinea? How to know and believe what they are saying to us, these liars and mean people? Maybe it is a new virus, coming from space. An alien.

In this article, the Black Death is said to be caused by an Ebola-like virus:

The symptoms of the Black Death point to a hemorrhagic fever caused by an Ebola-like virus. The fever struck suddenly, causing aching and bleeding from internal organs, as well as red blotches caused by the effusion of blood under the skin, which are classic symptoms of Ebola-like illnesses.

Ebola clinic in Guinea evaculated after attack

Angry mob claims Doctors without Borders introduced deadly disease to Country

A crowd of people angry about an Ebola outbreak that has killed 86 people across Guinea attacked a centre where people were being held in isolation, prompting an international aid group to evacuate its team, officials said Saturday.

The violence took place in the southern town of Macenta, where at least 14 people have died since the outbreak emerged last month. The mob of people who descended upon the clinic accused Doctors Without Borders health workers of bringing Ebola to Guinea, where there had never previously been any cases.

Guinea's government swiftly condemned the attack, saying that Doctors Without Borders and other international aid groups were key to stopping the spread of Ebola.

"The international community has rapidly mobilized to help us in these difficult moments with considerable medical support and specialists on the ground at the disease's epicenter," the statement said. "That's why the government is calling on people to stay calm and allow our partners to help us eradicate this epidemic."

Some young people threw rocks at the aid workers, though no one was seriously hurt, said Sam Taylor, a spokesman for Doctors Without Borders.

"We understand very well that people are afraid because it is a new disease here," Taylor said. "But these are not favourable working conditions so we are suspending our activities."

Treatment continues
Patients are continuing to receive treatment from Guinean health ministry personnel, Taylor said.

There is no cure for Ebola, which causes fever and severe bleeding, and up to 90 per cent of patients die from the strain of the virus that has been detected in Guinea. Some patients are held for observation, and then transferred to another area if they are confirmed to have Ebola.

Confusion about the process has prompted misinformation in this remote corner of Guinea. Resident Kolie Martin accused doctors of transferring patients to the isolation ward who had not tested positive for Ebola.

"As soon as someone is brought here, they don't try to figure out whether he is sick or not, they just transfer him directly to the sick ward. So it's them who are killing the people who are in good health," Martin said.

A total of 86 people have died so far from Ebola in Guinea and two other confirmed deaths have been reported in neighbouring Liberia. Authorities in Mali are also investigating three suspected cases of Ebola, and they have sent samples overseas for testing.

Experts say that Ebola is carried by fruit bats living in West Africa, and that it could have been transmitted to a human who ate a bat or another animal that had been bitten by a bat. Health officials emphasize it can only be spread through direct contact with the bodily fluids of someone who is infected. But that hasn't stopped fear and misinformation from spreading.

In Guinea, passengers aboard a crowded bus fled at the sight of an elderly man who vomited, fearing he was ill with Ebola. In Mali, people protested in the neighbourhood where the suspected Ebola patients were being isolated, fearing their presence.

An Air France flight from the Guinean capital that landed in Paris on Friday was briefly quarantined after the crew discovered indications that a passenger had been sick in the toilets. After medical checks on board the flight, the 180 passengers and 11 crew members were released, Air France said.

Re: Ebola Outbreak in Guinea

I work in Guinea and there are some local facts (albeit one unconfirmed) that might explain the wired outbreak.
1. Guinea is a cash economy and a poor country. If heavily infected money are introduced then the service is done.
2. It is a custom of giving money at funerals as well as weddings.
3. There is talk (UNCONFIRMED) of a wired funerary custom in at least one remote community situated in the border zones with either Liberia or Siera Leone (unsure) similar with the funerary cannibalism documented for one of the communities living in the Amazon rainforest http://www.vanderbilt.edu/exploration/news/news_cannibalism_nsv.htm.
4. Typhoid, cholera, malaria, leprosy, meningitis, and something that I experienced myself treated with for concurrent antibiotics and malaria medication which was not contagious but was not diagnosed though are frequent.

I will probably return to Guinea in the beginning of May.

Please do not use or quote my comments.

Cheers

Ina

Hi Luke Wilson,
In this article (french sott 2014), it's said that Ebola contaminates throw every surfaces, also from air, not only fluids.
It's said that Ebola is a GMO, a biological weapon.
Other important info: any medication neither vaccine is efficace. What to do, is to strengthen our natural immunity (diet, detox, vitamines supplementation)
