Thorwald Dethlefsen

The Living Force
Thorwald Dethlefsen (1946-2010) was a German psychologist, esotericist and author of several books. He practiced hypnotherapy, past-life regression and reincarnation therapy. In 1996 he founded a church called Kawwana - Kirche des Neuen Aeons, which was closed after about 10 years after announing that it had moved to a higher level of existence (into the World of Briah, a term of the Kabbalah) because it had fulfilled its wordly purpose. The inspiration behind the church came from Oskar Rudolf Schlag, who was, amongst other things, a German psychotherapist, esotericist and medium. Schlag channeled a being called "Atma" (which first described itself as the 'group spirit of those present at the sessions' and later as someone who 'wanted to incarnate'). The German transcripts are available on Amazon, rather expensive. Schlag however distanced himself from Dethlefsen's Kawwana church.

The following book by Dethlefsen, co-authored with Ruediger Dahlke (who also distanced himself from Dethlefsen in 1989), has been suggested recently here in the forum, it has been translated into several languages, amongst those:

Un chemin vers la santé : Sens caché de la maladie et de ses différents symptômes
The Healing Power of Illness: The Meaning of Symptoms and How to Interpret Them
Krankheit als Weg. Deutung und Be-deutung der Krankheitsbilder

I did not read it entirely, but skimmed through it, and it seems very good. However, I had listened to one of Dethlefsen's talks about self-knowledge about 10 years ago, also seemingly very good, but there was some problematic content. Basically, Dethlefsen's 'cosmology' or 'inspiration' can be summarized in the following sentence:

There is Unity, from which springs Polarity, which is an illusion, therefore there is only Unity.

Added to this are a few Hermetic laws of the Kybalion. A result of the above sentence is a 'blame the victim'-mentality, which he shows clearly in one of his talks ("If you are hit at the head by a bottle from two fighting men behind you, it was your hidden aggression that caused it.")

Therefore I suggest that all his writings be read with a 'caveat lector' attitude. His writings certainly can serve as good inspiration and can help to see things from a different perspective. This is very valuable in my opinion. However, there is said problem at deeper levels that one should be aware of.

I agree that on the first sight the book seems great. But we know about the devil, so attention to details must be paid.

Dahlke, even if he actually distanced himself from Dethlefsen, doesn't seem much better though. One of his newest books (2011) is titled "Peaceful food" and he is a strong promoter for vegan diet. Two other his recent books are tagged as kundalini yoga and there are e.g. chapters about "the mystery of the fiery kundalini energy" and "techniques for awakening the kundalini energy" (_http://www.dahlke.at/veroeffentlichungen/buecher/dieleichtigkeitdesschwebens.php)

Dr. Rüdiger Dahlke is a medical doctor, psychotherapist and author of over 50 books on the topic of health and nutrition. His books greatly inspired my own healing process and I had the greatest honour and pleasure of being able to hold a spontaneous interview with him on his latest book entitled: Peacefood, which is presented in this interview. This book (not yet in English unfortunately), builds on the research presented in the China study and creates a wonderful contextual basis in support of the argument for for maintaining a meat-free diet. Whatever your opinion may be on this matter, this book is a must read and this interview worth a listen.

“For over three decades starting with Disease as a Path; The Healing Power of Illness and all the way through to the reference work “Disease as a Symbol”, I have fought for increased recognition of the role that the soul plays in the development of disease and have been responsible for significantly raising awareness in this regard. This remains important to me; I continue to stand behind it unreservedly……

……Eating colourful vegetables and fruits and knowing how much good they do for “the body” and how little harm they do to others is untainted enjoyment. And life and enjoyment that are not based on the suffering of others feels so much better!

“Peace-Food” summarizes in a language that is understandable for medical novices the most impressive studies on nutrition, which clearly confirm where the healthiest and most enjoyable path is heading. In the meantime, these studies have shown in no uncertain terms just how dangerous animal protein actually is for us and just how attractive doing without it is for our health. ...

Even though, and in fact precisely because, these are challenging times, it is up to us to use these challenges to take the right steps in the right direction. And the more people are willing to do this, the sooner we can start today to build “a new Earth” and give our development a tremendous kick-start. Food connects our inner and outer worlds and external peace can only be based on inner peace. When we start to care for ourselves with greater sensitivity and feeling, the microcosm of the body and the macrocosm of the world will come back to life to an unprecedented extent. ...

In the latter video, he talks about his "fasting seminaries" with zen meditation, Indian philosophy (Leila, the law of polarity), the book "Secret" (the law of resonance) and positive thinking and light workers (here, negatively).

G-translation:
As a basis of therapeutic work of the healing center, hermeticism of Hermes Trismegistus is named in Dahlke's books: "Destiny laws", "Shadow Principle" and "Life principles." 2010-2012, he established the Laryngology Institute Taman Ga in Styria (Austria) with his new partner Rita Fasel."

He is also Creative Member of Club of Budapest.

Thanks for mentioning and it is worth keeping the above in mind and to practice caveat lector.

Seems the whole vegan thing, again, casts lots of doubt on the claims. All credible scientific studies show pretty much the opposite. Also, the whole idea of "how little harm" a vegan diet does and how it's not based on the "suffering of others" is not based in reality, but based in ignorance.

I found the following in In Search of the Miraculous. G talks about the stages in man's development, where the default state is "duality", but where our task is to overcome duality, discover the "third force" and enter into "trinity", then "quaternity" and so forth. But this is not what happens in Dethlefsen's teachings. He comes from Unity into Duality, but immediately stops there, wants to ignore that Duality even exists.

ISOTM said:
"Man, in the normal state natural to him, is taken as a duality. He consists entirely of dualities or 'pairs of opposites.' All man's sensations, impressions, feelings, thoughts, are divided into positive and negative, useful and harmful, necessary and unnecessary, good and bad, pleasant and unpleasant. The work of centers proceeds under the sign of this division. Thoughts oppose feelings. Moving impulses oppose instinctive craving for quiet. This is the duality in which proceed all the perceptions, all the reactions, the whole life of man. Any man who observes himself, however little, can see this duality in himself.

"But this duality would seem to alternate; what is victor today is the vanquished tomorrow; what guides us today becomes secondary and subordinate tomorrow. And everything is equally mechanical, equally independent of will, and leads equally to no aim of any kind. The understanding of duality in oneself begins with the realization of mechanicalness and the realization of the difference between what is mechanical and what is conscious. This understanding must be preceded by the destruction of the self-deceit in which a man lives who considers even his most mechanical actions to be volitional and conscious and himself to be single and whole.

"When self-deceit is destroyed and a man begins to see the difference between the mechanical and the conscious in himself, there begins a struggle for the realization of consciousness in life and for the subordination of the mechanical to the conscious. For this purpose a man begins with endeavors to set a definite decision, coming from conscious motives, against mechanical processes proceeding according to the laws of duality. The creation of a permanent third principle is for man the transformation of the duality into the trinity.

"Strengthening this decision and bringing it constantly and infallibly into all those events where formerly accidental neutralizing 'shocks' used to act and give accidental results, gives a permanent line of results in time and is the transformation of trinity into quaternity.
