This week on ‘Behind the Headlines’, we’re speaking with Scottish author and editor, Robin Ramsay. Ramsay has been editor and publisher of the Lobster magazine since it was founded in 1983. He has also written a number of books, including Smear! Wilson and the Secret State, Prawn Cocktail Party: The Hidden Power of New Labour, and Who Shot JFK?. For ten years, he also wrote a column in the Fortean Times on conspiracy theories.

Lobster’s contributors include academics and journalists, and is today published twice annually. The magazine focusses primarily on parapolitics – the influence of intelligence and security services on politics and world trade – and combines the examination of conspiracy theories and contemporary history.

Join us this Sunday 16th August 2015, from 2-4pm EST / 7-9pm GMT / 8-10pm CET, for what promises to be an enlivening discussion with an expert on deep politics and the hidden state.

This sounds like it will be an excellent conversation. Thanks Niall.

It also looks like there are issues of The Lobster available on their website:

The current issue of Lobster is available on-line, free. The previous issues, all the way back to 1983, or articles from them, are available on-line for a small fee (the fees pay the cost of the website) or as a CD-Rom (More information below). Most issues up to number 57 are available in hard copy from the editor.

Reading through they do look like they contain some very interesting information.

Thanks for another very interesting show guys! Reading the aforementioned article really helped me with following the chat with Robin, as did watching the Collusion documentary recently about MI5 involvement in the 'troubles' in northern Ireland.

The lobster magazine website provides some great information regarding Labour party leader contender, Jeremy Corbyn, such as the attempted "inept NUS-type putsch to remove the long-standing MP" back in the 1990's by James Purnell, Stephen Twigg and Tal Michael. I guess this is an example of 'deep politics' and shows the importance of the work of researchers like Robin Ramsey and others in documenting such activities.
