Tarri:
Yes, you are right. A lot of work would have gone into it. Thanks Mark.

Aeneas:
Yes, it is well worth reading. For some reason you can only buy it via the author's website, despite me prodding Amazon, as to why they don't stock it.
I had to check the price that Mark quoted as it sounded rather high, but realised that it is just the effect of the falling dollar. The price is 37 British pounds.

You can get a free sample of the book by going to the site and I just noticed that they now have put out a DVD with new research included.

Laura:
I'm not sure why it is so expensive.  One thing I sort of picked up on was that Wilkens sold the rights to the original publisher who did a run or two and then it went out of print.  So, Wilkens, having sold the rights, couldn't do anything about it except to come out with a different edition and self-publish at some considerable expense.

I may be wrong on this take on the problem, so if anybody finds anything else out, post it here.

Anyway, if it is true that the publisher "buried" the book in this way, it wouldn't be the first time such a thing has happened.

There is also another book dealing with the same theme. Namely ''The Baltic Origins of Homer's Epic Tales: The Iliad, the Odyssey, and the Migration of Myth'' by Felice Vinci.
