Notice that all 'verses' begin with "I", not that the pre-2003 ver. was so much better but It seems bad can get worse.
A sentence that stands out for me is:
I stand ready to deploy, engage, and destroy, the enemies of the United States of America in close combat.
Why would they specify that its close combat?
