Complications from Chicken Pox

The son of a close friend of mine is facing impending corneal surgery from a viral condition related to the chicken pox virus. From what I understand, the virus, which is not manifesting as shingles, is affecting his cornea. There are two possible surgeries, one of which involves a laser procedure which will operate on, and I'm not sure of this, the third layer of his cornea if there is such a thing.

According to my friend, this surgery may have seriously and negatively affect his vision after a span of about ten years.

More than the surgery, though, my friend is concerned about the viral overload in her son's body. In additon to the infection in his eyes it also manifests as a rash on his back which, again, is not shingles.

Does anyone have any information that will help my friend make an informed decision about how to treat her son who is in his early twenties?

The chickenpox virus is related to Herpes simplex and Shingles. So maybe this is in the same class.

The amino acid L-Lysine helps immensely with these viruses. I have suffered much of my life with herpes--cold sore type, not genital--and know that as soon as I feel that tingly, itchy sensation where a sore will break out I start supplementing the L-Lysine. The sore never forms if I do this.

The amino acid L-Arginine feeds these viruses. Chocolate, nuts, some grains, and popcorn are high in L-Arginine. Exposure to sunlight can also make it worse.

I would bet that if he starts pumping in the L-Lysine--2000mg to 6000mg twice or three time a day, as well as staying away from anything with L-Arginine, the virus will resolve.

I'm really sorry to hear this. My youngest daughter went through chicken pox in June of this year at the age of 19 and it was a rough ordeal. She had some complications but we managed to get through all of them and mainly she was just a very, very sick girl! She was in bed literally for two weeks and weak as a kitten after that for awhile. And the scarring was horrendous. I cried over it. Her fabulous, creamy skin was pocked. (She never even had acne!) But it is now a few months later and the scars are diminishing already.

It is possible that the Miracle Mineral Supplement could help and also the detox diet. I would recommend that your friend at least read the MMS book and the "Detoxify or Die" book and the "Magnesium Miracle."

This experience must have been truly horrific for a 19 year old and for you. My daughter got chicken pox at three. She was into the princess stage, and she was always dressing up and looking in the mirror.

On the day she contracted chicken pox she looked in the mirror as usual and screamed. Then she just cried and cried - and she was only three!!! The stakes are much higher at 19, so I can imagine how difficult it was for your daughter, and for you to see her suffer.

Do you think that the Magnesium Miracle helped get rid of the scars? Does it work for scarring? If so, maybe it would work for my friend's son who has the scarring on his cornea.

My partner pointed out a rash-like condition yesterday that is the size, presently, of a silver dollar. It is located on the left side of her back (and she was complaining of a sore sacrum) and it also appeared correspondingly on her front just below the ribcage. She had it checked this morning and it was confirmed by a nurse as being so - she has to go back.

From the above, foods containing high L-Arginnie are listed below (yet I can't see many of these in her diet).

I've L-Lysine at home and she will start on this tonight and ramp up Lipo C.

Here is what a Dr. Whitaker has to say: http://www.drwhitaker.com/treating-shingles-naturally

...If you look to your conventional doctor for treating shingles, don’t be surprised if he gives you a prescription for an antiviral, anti-seizure, antidepressant or opiate medication. These are the go-to drugs for treating shingles and PHN. But these prescription meds are rife with dangerous side effects and contraindications, which makes it difficult for many patients to take them. And because they only mask pain and other symptoms, they aren’t a viable long-term solution for treating shingles.

[...]

Though I firmly believe that IV vitamin C and microcurrent therapy should be the first-line therapies for treating shingles and PHN, a number of over-the-counter remedies are also helpful.

High-dose vitamin B12 is a time-honored treatment for shingles.

The amino acid L-lysine, like vitamin C, inhibits the replication of the herpes zoster virus.

Another option is a product called Shing-RELEEV (formerly Shingle-EEZE), a blend of antimicrobial and botanical agents that is applied topically to relieve shingles pain.

I'll see how it goes.

I'm really sorry to hear this voyageur. :( I had shingles last year and it really is NOT a pleasant experience. I can confirm that taking L-Lysine is very beneficial, as well as liposomal C, and staying away from Argenine-rich foods. You may also consider this supplement from Standard Process, Cyruta Plus (_http://www.amazon.com/Standard-Process-Cyruta-Plus-360/dp/B0014O89DQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1426466343&sr=1-1&keywords=standard+process+cyruta+plus), which works very well in combination with Lysine against viral infections.

Be sure also to have some stress relief activities in place. If your partner does reach the itching and pain stage of shingles, psychological health is very important. I will tell you, it almost drove me mad, quite literally.

The ability to sleep is also very important. I was able to get (some) sleep by liberally applying coconut oil to the rashes and covering them with a latex-free gauze pad which I then covered with a wide ace wrap around my torso, to hold in place. I did that every day for almost three weeks with a new bandage twice a day. I got two of the large wide ace wraps and while I had one on, I cleaned the other by hand-washing it and soaking in a bucket of distilled water with a few drops of iodine in it to head off any potential spread of the virus via the bandage.

Another important thing is to be very watchful of what either of you touch after dealing with the rash. The virus CAN spread to other area of your body through contact, and if you get it on your face, it can spread to your eyes and cause blindness. It's nothing to mess with. Either use gloves or be vigilant about washing your hands after every time you handle the rash.

You may come across some references which encourage the use of clay on shingles rashes, but I caution you, do NOT let the clay dry on the rash, it is pure hell to remove once it's dry, and the ensuing itching makes the pain seem like a vacation. I tried it, and I'll not do that again. It can be beneficial and soothing when wet, just make sure to keep a close eye on it after you apply it and then carefully wash clean before it has a chance to dry too much.

Again, I really wish your partner luck with this. Please let us know how it goes, and I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you guys. :/

Firstly, wow, you seem to have had a good case of this and worked out some of the help needed, so thanks for that.

I can report that the physician took a swab (apparently it is not a fast test) and said it appeared mild. She refused offered phama-care products and immediately started work with some of the things discussed above (made a new batch of Lipo C, too). Just back home tonight and the rash has almost dissipated completely. She cut back on work and is trying to take it easily. I was cautious around the rash when it first developed and yet her physician seemed not concerned about it spreading or being particularly contagious ; not sure what is up with that? I'll keep watching this, yet it looks promising thus far.

Thanks for sharing what you went through, Jonathan!

Just an update. My partners results came back positive for Shingles. She met with the doc to get the news, yet he was scratching his head due to such a minimal case - he had never seen it so small. She described what she was doing, what she was taking for it and he said whatever your doing don't stop - I'm not going to give you anything.

On another related note, while at some people's home we know on the weekend. Shingles came up, and my partners friend said that she had become worried and ordered up the vaccine. My partner said to her, just so you know, it is a live vaccine. The rest of the conversation did not go well as her husband became very very angry (he had had the vaccine recently and may have talked his partner into scheduling an appointment) - accusing my partner of giving false information, like his doctor would have told him if that was so - there was no conversation allowed. We were beside ourselves listening, yet knew it was based on fear and politely left.

What became known after, is that there are commercials apparently running everyday on TV for this vaccine and people left, right and center are receiving it - they are scared. Now my wife is wondering if she had actually contracted it from one of the many people now with this vaccine.

Regardless, super happy her immunity shut it down.

Yes, this vaccine is being advertised on TV and has for several years. My mother questioned me on this when she had first seen the advertisement because it said that ALL elderly people are most likely to get shingles and it told how very painful it is. So it is scaring people into getting the vaccine. After my mother and I talked a bit, she decided against getting it, just like she decided to not get the flu vaccine.

It's disgusting how Big Pharma will use scare tactics to make a profit regardless of what the outcomes are. But, then, those in Big Pharma are the same rich/power elite who are banksters and arms dealers and use fear mongering to keep making their huge profits from war.

That's great news that it's going well! :D I'm not surprised the doctor was surprised, most cases of shingles for the average adult with a common western diet turn out very badly, with lots of pain, and the medications don't do a damn thing for the immune system. Good luck, and remember, it does recede. :)
