McPherson tape, real or hoax?

Another interesting facet of this McPherson tape, is that it is eerily similar to the "Brazilian Birthday Party" scene in M. Knight's "Signs" - which was obviously created at a much later date than McPherson. There are even certain director's cues for how the actors take their marks through both sequences that are strangely similar.
