The Living Force
Watched this one with Redfox and Windmill Knight a few days ago, which we we all got a lot from.

“A look at the lives of the strong-willed women of the Weston family, whose paths have diverged until a family crisis brings them back to the Oklahoma house they grew up in, and to the dysfunctional woman who raised them.”[/quote]
A film adaptation of the play by Tracy Letts (who also wrote the screen play for the film), it takes you into the lives of a pretty messed up family who are temporarily forced back together through circumstances. You see the influence of the overbearing pathological mother played Meryl Streep (who is excellent) as it runs through the family, the problems it causes in the present, the wounds it has left in the past, and the dynamics of how the different characters assembled have dealt with it (or not). Julia Roberts is also very good in this as the eldest of three daughters and there are some other great performances in there too form a strong cast.
Sounds a bit heavy on the face of it, but there are some great lines in there and a lot of laughs throughout too. Overall, in main take home is the food for thought the story provides. There’s a lot to think about and process as you’re watching it, lots of emotional engagement, and then plenty to talk about and process again afterwards. A rewarding watch – Highly recommended!
