Need advice...am I being too skeptical?

Ask-Seek-Knock

Padawan Learner
I received an invitation from a friend to attend a Past Life Exploration Through Hypnosis Workshop being taught by Dee Woolridge a hypnotherapist and Reiki Master/Teacher among other things.

I sent an email to Dee directly telling her I was interested in her class and I requested her Reiki lineage, as advised by those on this forum, and the reply I got was I hope you can attend (the event), nothing about the lineage. So I thanked her for the quick reply and stated that I didn't receive the requested information, thinking she overlooked the question or maybe she forgot to attach a .pdf or something with more information on her background, maybe a link on her website that I missed. No response. That to me is a red flag.

In searching her website, I found out she is a 28 year Navy Public Affairs Officer. At first that didn't draw a red flag but I remembered all the military folks mentioned within the books written by Laura that were "programmed". So then another red flag went up.

Am I just being too skeptical or are these red flags reasonable?

I personally would refuse the offer out of caution. If this person doesn't not disclose her lineage, either she doesn't know about its importance and therefore is incompetent, or she knows about it and hides it because it's questionable. In either cases it's not good.

Thanks mkrnhr. That was my thoughts exactly! I thought it was odd that she didn't respond with it in the first place. But then I figured I would give her one more shot in case she read the email so fast she overlooked it. Shouldn't it be disclosed on her website?

If it's the same person, the site below claims that she's a Usui reiki master/teacher. I haven't found any info regarding a more detailed lineage tree, though.

Because she's not forthcoming with her information (I think she should have no issue with disclosing her lineage online), I agree with mkrnhr that you should refuse the offer. Sounds fishy to me.

Thanks truth seeker. It's probably the same person, see info below as I finally received a few responses from Dee concerning the lineage question. On my followup email in which I requested her lineage, for the second time, I got the response below in red bold:

"I didn't attach it. What's it for?"

I was a little perturb by this because it indicates that she did read my request for her lineage in my original email and didn't overlook it. She chose to ignore the question and send a generic reply saying I hope you can attend, as outlined in my first post.

I replied to this email indicating that I am new to Reiki and I was told to always get someone's lineage to fully understand their background.

This is her response back to in red bold below:

"That's an interesting concept... not one that I would adopt or teach. Reiki is a healing practice that anyone can learn and use whether they know their lianage or not. It all comes from the same source...one source...God.... anyways, here is one of my linages (I've had several attunements over time). This is the one that I put on my Reiki student certificates.

Reiki Universal Energy

Dr. Mikao Usui

Dr. Dhujiro Hayashi

Mrs. Hawayo Takata

Iris Ishihuro

Dr. Arthur Robertson

Karen Cameron

Karen Fox

Rev. Marie Rafi Ciociola

David Lawrence Gleekel

Alejandra Hernandez

Rev. Damita (Dee) Woolridge"

After pulling some teeth I got the information. I have no idea who any of these people are but I do know that I will not be attending her class tomorrow.

I am so grateful to have found/read Laura's books and connected with this forum so I can more easily discern these types of things. It's refreshing to find knowledge that you can apply to everyday life and have it be helpful.

Thanks again for taking the time to read this post and respond. Take care!

I think you are right being sceptical about this person. Her answers smell like self importance, and a dig at you. I noticed that among other things, she's an "Akashic Record Specialist", LOL.

You don't usually put 'Reiki Universal Energy' in the certificate, that's just silly. A good example of someone believing they are awake, when in fact they are even more asleep. She says she's guided by spiritual beings and God. That's usually a red flag for me, and might indicate that she's being "messed with".

Anyway, if I were you, I wouldn't get involved with this person.

I think you're right to stay away as well. Not only is her lineage questionable, her customer service skills are poor (ignoring emails and specific questions). What if you'd taken a class with her and had some questions and she gave you this kind of follow up, or none at all?
