The Ancient Observatory Kokino (Tatikev Kamen) is located in the north-east part of Macedonia, near the border with Serbia, near the Kokino village.Wider region registers great number of archaeological sites dated from the time of Neolith up to the Middle Age indicating the history rich with important settlements, sanctuaries, events and people of at least 6000 years. To answer why this ancient site is considered to be observatory,we should remind of the primary characteristics of the Sun and Moon's movements. In the course of one calendar year,Sun and the Full Moon rise in different places on horizon, also determining the so called extreme rise position on the horizon. This mean that the Sun in winter when the day is the shortest or in the day of the winter solstice(22nd of December) rises in it's the southernmost position on the horizon...

Thank you SOTT for the article:

sToRmR1dR,

I think this is an interesting megalithic site as well as most megalithic sites. Like why are they megalithic anyway?

Another interesting thing for me is why is NASA so interested in these sites?

From the SOTT article:

Today NASA has recognized Kokino as one of the most important observatories of its kind in the world. UNESCO has also determined that the Kokino Observatory represents a unique testimony to human creative genius in using the natural landscape to satisfy the vital needs, beliefs, and the most important rites in the life of the people from that time.

It just makes me wonder if there is something they are trying to tell us.

I also live in Macedonia and i never visited this place. Maybe i will next year when weather conditions will be better.
I have never believe the official explanations for this place, about being an observatory. We have to take in count all those megalithic stones all over the world, parts of the history that is so different from what official pseudo-science is talking about and also the periodical catastrophes that occurred on the Earth like comet impacts, floods or something else.
