The Living Force
Impressive communist buildings Buzludzha, located at the top of the Bulgarian Stara Planina, at an altitude of 1,441 meters. Buzludzha is at a distance of about 200 kilometers from Sofia. I have never visited Bulgaria, but the image of this impressive structure are thrilled me,although the place was abandoned

_https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TF6li80c9rs A friend of mine used to study architecture and then she took it as a project to renovate the Buzludzha monument. I have no idea how far she went, but I can ask her if you like.

It would be nice to see( in computer animation or somehow), as it would appear to be renovated, thanks

The pictures of this place look impressive imo.

Wikipedia says the following about this monument:

The Buzludzha Monument on the peak was built by the Bulgarian communist regime to commemorate the events in 1891 when the socialists led by Dimitar Blagoev assembled secretly in the area to form an organised socialist movement with the founding of the Bulgarian Social Democratic Party, a fore-runner of the Bulgarian Communist Party. The Monument was opened in 1981.[2] No longer maintained by the Bulgarian government, it has fallen into disuse.
The monument was built at a cost of 14 186 000 leva.

And here is also a website dedicated to this monument:

When I was staying with friends in Bulgaria they took me and keyhole to see this, it is absolutely huge and looks like a spaceship! When I went (2012) it was all closed off on the inside damaged I think. Interesting to see though, I felt abit weird there.

:D Was such an awesome place

She presents 4-5 possibilites of renovation _https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ql9KMrPVrE (sorry, no translation available here):
1. Possible Museum of Socialism
2. Concert Hall because of it's good accoustics
3. Disco
4. Luxurious Hotel
5. Buzludzha - memory of time (history tour from the future to the past or vice versa)
Good timing, there will be a documentary soon. Sadly, I will not be able to attend.

Hello Casper, thank you for posting this link, this structure looks very impressive even in the state that it is.

Yes, definitely has an interesting shape

this reminded me on ex Yugoslavia abandoned Communist monuments, they are also spectacular ... as you can see most of the best ones are totally abstract huge sculptures, that is quite interesting actually that they kind of gave freedom to the artist to express the emotional and grandiose state instead of mimicking real superman heroes like it was usual in Soviet monuments
