UFO of some sort

The Living Force
This one is all over the internet as of today, but I thought I might post a link here in any case for the sake of being completist.

The halo reminds me of rocket fuel spewing as seen in other videos of malfunctioned launches, but it also looks similar to plasma discharge events, just.., big.

Update:

The news is apparently calling the phenomenon the result of an Atlas 5 rocket launch and a second stage separation.

Re: This one looks spectacular.

Looks like a slowly moving body that is disintegrating as it moves through the atmosphere .. (?)
Also seems to be a plasma phenomena involved..

At the end it's possible to see that after the shedding of whatever material it is being disbursed, there remains a small object that keeps moving. Perhaps a core made of a different material ?

The video quality isn't that great

Yes, could plausibly be the rocket launch. Note that the launch happened shortly before sunrise, and when the rocket exits earth's shadow, the sun would light up the exhaust fumes.

Re: This one looks spectacular.

Still, it looks like a plasma trail behind an electrically charged bolide.

Re: This one looks spectacular.

Looks a lot like this to me:

It also kind of reminds me of that weird spiral that was filmed in Norway some years ago:

Re: This one looks spectacular.

I don't know, but my first thoughts were that it was plasma related - but if it is just a rocket launch, then perhaps the upper/surrounding atmosphere has changed, what with that luminous tail and so on.. because i agree that it looks similar to other odd incidences. Though apparently the light effect can be due to the sun.

I actually thought the air show crashes may have something to do with a change in the atmosphere, maybe it doesn't hold the same pressure it used to, hence they can't do the full loop. But again, i know very little about all that.

All in all, rocket or not, for me, it is quite strange.

I do think it looks like a plasma trail but I did notice any sounds reported. It would be nice to know the time the videos were recorded since the rocket launch was supposed to be 6:18 in the morning. The background seems kind of dark for 6:18 but maybe not.

Sunrise in Miami is currently reported to be at 7:02am, so I don't think it would be too dark. The sky will start to get lighter before the sun actually appears over the horizon. (http://www.timeanddate.com/astronomy/usa/miami).

The Orlando Sentinel news article says:
"About five minutes after launch, the second-stage ignition created a huge, bright-white cloud backlit by the first rays of sunrise."

So I don't think there is a timing problem between the darkness of the sky and the times of sunrise and the rocket launch.

I guess that is what I was wondering why was it as dark as the video seemed when daylight was almost an hour later. It just does not seem like 7:02am when viewing the video.

If the video is of the rocket 5 minutes into its launch, the time would be about 6:23am. That would be about 40 minutes before the sun itself becomes visible. The sky could be just starting to lighten, pre-dawn, but still pretty dark. There is more about pre-dawn lightening of the sky here:

Today, for instance, technical sunrise in SF is supposed to be 7:01. The sky started lightening at around 6:14.

Thanks, that makes good sense. :)

This looks for all the world like a bunch of balloons connected together.
As it rotates the light reflections give the impression of flashing lights.
But yes, if they are balloons, they are odd shaped ones.

I saw the video few times and i think its definitely some kind of plasma discharge. It looks like some comet that have an electrical interaction with the earths atmosphere . I dont think its a rocket.
