Wars, Laws and Resistance: Just Another Week on the BBM

Today on Behind the Headlines, we'll connect the dots behind the week's main stories. In the news lately: the rise of populism around the world; the upcoming referendums and elections in Italy, Austria, France, Germany; stunning developments in Syria and a roadblock in Iraq; and of course, the ever-present Trump phenomenon.

Tune in as we work to make sense of these and other major recent developments on the world scene.

I'm trying to listen and can't seem to get the radio show to work. It shows a running time on the web page for the show and a chat box (but this is empty). Does anyone have advice to fix this? Thanks.

Hi Bear,

I don't know whether this is still relevant for now but surely for future cases: I'm using this link in Firefox (50.0.2) and have no problems: https://radio.sott.net/

Usually it's the OGG codex which causes the problem. To prevent that install VLC media player on your system as it is known to have those built in.

Otherwise, you have to add the OGG codices separately into your native media player (regardless which one).

Hope this helps you out. :)

Well, the Trumpster seems to bringing in the usual suspects for his cabinet so far: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxc5FpmBAzQ [Corbett Report]
Populism or nationalism instead of globalism might mean a 'lite' version of the usual headmaster, but that might be as good as it gets, this late in the game.
One question is how much does he personally know about American history? especially as it's mostly manipulated for propaganda purposes to support the system.
Maybe we should hope for Ivanka's assistance? Since he's already sold all his stocks and bonds back in June, at least he's prepared himself for an attempt at wrestling those swamp monsters... but why put them in charge of cleaning it, since they haven't shown any inclination to do so so far? Keeps it interesting anyway, and he should get a taste of that swamp rather soon to test his response/reaction.

It makes for better entertainment, this unknown factor in the equation, and who doesn't like that? Maybe we'll get to see him wake up? :/

Revolutionary change is bloody and almost always gets corrupted along the way along the lines described in ponerology. The only non-revolutionary change is slow change. And slow change means you have to gain allies, benefit insiders, establish a system of protection and enforcement, and be very careful who you get rid of, and how you do it. Putting in a team of total outsiders would only lead to them getting eaten alive - it's a non-starter. Putin has been in power in one way or another for over 15 years, and he is still surrounded by liberals and corrupt politicians. It's not an easy job.
