Radical Son - Human Behaviour

Came across this the other day and though to share it here:

Effortlessly crossing genres from soul to hip-hop and beyond, Radical Son is a standout vocalist and songwriter like no other. His often-poignant lyrics chart a course from hopelessness to healing; mercilessly deconstructing what is, and forever imagining what could be. Radical Son's music and stories are always guided by his Indigenous heritage from the Kamilaroi nation of Australia and the south pacific nation of Tonga.

As a vocalist, Radical Son has a unique ability to deliver as a soul singer, rapper and spoken word artist. This natural dexterity defines his earned place and presence in the contemporary musical landscape. The back-bone of radical son's stories continuously urge our human spirit to approach life through love and compassion.

I have been listening to old tracks in my collection again, and I must say, I really love Carbon Bases Lifeforms, especially their four tracks "Euphotic", "M", "Abiogenesis", but especially "World of Sleepers" (with the lyrics posted here):

In my world of sleepers
Everything will be erased
I'll be your religion
Only endless ideal
Slowly crawl in the dark
Swallowed by the seductive night
My torch has burned out

It remembers that years ago when I heard it, it made me realize how so many humans actually seemed asleep.

So Far Away

Here I am again in this mean old town
And you're so far away from me
And where are you when the sun goes down
You're so far away from me

So far away from me
So far I just can't see
So far away from me
You're so far away from me

I'm tired of being in love and being all alone
When you're so far away from me
I'm tired of making out on the telephone
And you're so far away from me

So far away from me
So far I just can't see
So far away from me
You're so far away from me

I get so tired when I have to explain
When you're so far away from me
See you been in the sun and I've been in the rain
And you're so far away from me

So far away from me
So far I just can't see
So far away from me
You're so far away from me

Seventh Wave

[Words and music by Devin Townsend]

Running away, running away
Running away forever
It was her only chance of finding home
Running away, running away
Running away together...
With only thoughts of finding home

I'll wait for the ocean to rise up
And meet me as it rose up before
(I'll know the time)
I'll wait for the ocean to rise up
And greet me as it rose up before
(I'll know the year)

Because you're never alone
...Even when you're alone
You're never alone...
Watch the seventh wave

Running away, running away
Running into the weather
With only thoughts of finding home
Running away, running away
Running away forever
I realize I'm on my own

On my way pass it on
On my way pass it on

I'll wait for the ocean to rise up
And meet me as it rose up before
(I'll know the time)
I'll wait for the ocean to rise up
And greet me as it rose up before

We're never alone
Even when you're alone
We're never alone... watch the ocean

Try To Remember - Bobby Darin

https://youtu.be/mulAe9tHO3A?feature=player_detailpage

Try to remember the kind of September
When life was slow and oh, so mellow.
Try to remember the kind of September
When grass was green and grain was yellow.

Try to remember the kind of September
When you were a tender and callow fellow.
Try to remember and if you remember
Then follow ...
Follow ...

Deep in December it's nice to remember
Although you know the snow will follow.
Deep in December it's so nice to remember
Without a hurt the heart is hollow.

Deep in December it's nice to remember
The fire of September that made you mellow.
Deep in December our hearts should remember
And follow ...
Follow ...
Follow ...

* Keep you in the dark
You know they all pretend
Keep you in the dark
And so it all began

Send in your skeletons
Sing as their bones go marching in, again
The need you buried deep
The secrets that you keep are ever ready
Are you ready?
I'm finished making sense
Done pleading ignorance
That whole defense

Spinning infinity, boy
The wheel is spinning me
It's never-ending, never-ending
Same old story

What if I say I'm not like the others?
What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays?
You're the pretender
What if I say I will never surrender?
What if I say I'm not like the others?
What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays?
You're the pretender
What if I say that I'll never surrender?

In time our soul untold
I'm just another soul for sale, oh well
The page is out of print
We are not permanent
We're temporary, temporary
Same old story

What if I say I'm not like the others?
What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays?
You're the pretender
What if I say that I'll never surrender?
What if I say I'm not like the others?
What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays?
You're the pretender
What if I say that I'll never surrender?

I'm the voice inside your head
You refuse to hear
I'm the face that you have to face
Mirrored in your stare
I'm what's left, I'm what's right
I'm the enemy
I'm the hand that will take you down
Bring you to your knees

So who are you?
Yeah, who are you?
Yeah, who are you?
Yeah, who are you?

Keep you in the dark
You know they all pretend

What if I say I'm not like the others?
What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays?
You're the pretender
What if I say I will never surrender?
What if I say I'm not like the others?
What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays?
You're the pretender
What if I say that I'll never surrender?

What if I say I'm not like the others?
(Keep you in the dark)
What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays?
(You know they all pretend)
You're the pretender
(Who dares)
What if I say I will never surrender?

What if I say I'm not like the others?
(Keep you in the dark)
What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays?
(You know they all pretend)
You're the pretender
(Who dares)
What if I say I will never surrender?

So who are you?
Yeah, who are you?
Yeah, who are you?

I loved the sound and sadness of King Crimson's "Starless" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAAqAnCBNKQ )

But after seeing "Epitaph", I can say that this is my favorite song of theirs. It reminds me of the state of humanity and how it's truly sad that things don't seem to be turning around. There is a similar "story of sound" to Starless, where there is sadness but some hidden hope. I'm probably reading too much into the song, but that's what I pick up from it with this perilous state of the planet (comets, etc).

King Crimson – Epitaph Lyrics

The wall on which the prophets wrote
Is cracking at the seams
Upon the instruments of death
The sunlight brightly gleams
When every man is torn apart
With nightmares and with dreams,
Will no one lay the laurel wreath
As silence drowns the screams

Confusion will be my epitaph
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back and laugh,
But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying,
Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying
Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying

Between the iron gates of fate,
The seeds of time were sown,
And watered by the deeds of those
Who know and who are known;
Knowledge is a deadly friend
If no one sets the rules
The fate of all mankind I see
Is in the hands of fools

Confusion will be my epitaph
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back and laugh,
But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying,
Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying
