What are you listening to?

Don't give up by Kate Bush and Pete Gabriel

Don't give up

In this proud land we grew up strong
We were wanted all along
I was taught to fight, taught to win
I never thought I could fail

No fight left or so it seems
I am a man whose dreams have all deserted
Ive changed my face, Ive changed my name
But no one wants you when you lose

Dont give up
cos you have friends
Dont give up
Youre not beaten yet
Dont give up
I know you can make it good

Though I saw it all around
Never thought I could be affected
Thought that wed be the last to go
It is so strange the way things turn

Drove the night toward my home
The place that I was born, on the lakeside
As daylight broke, I saw the earth
The trees had burned down to the ground

Dont give up
You still have us
Dont give up
We dont need much of anything
Dont give up
cause somewhere theres a place
Where we belong

Rest your head
You worry too much
Its going to be alright
When times get rough
You can fall back on us
Dont give up
Please dont give up

got to walk out of here
I cant take anymore
Going to stand on that bridge
Keep my eyes down below
Whatever may come
And whatever may go
That rivers flowing
That rivers flowing

Moved on to another town
Tried hard to settle down
For every job, so many men
So many men no-one needs

Dont give up
cause you have friends
Dont give up
Youre not the only one
Dont give up
No reason to be ashamed
Dont give up
You still have us
Dont give up now
Were proud of who you are
Dont give up
You know its never been easy
Dont give up
cause I believe theres the a place
Theres a place where we belong

I've had the lyrics from this track stuck in my head all day today since I woke up this morning. I haven't heard this song in years.

I recently read this from Planet Mu's facebook page:

"Did you know that "Einstein-Rosen Bridge" by venetian snares was going to be the theme tune to Brooker & Morris's Nathan Barley - we got as far as contracts and everything but they pulled out at the last minute."

Lyrics to Einstein-Rosen Bridge:

It's about time
It's about space
About strange people in the strangest place

It's about time
It's about flight
Traveling faster than the speed of light

It's about time
It's about space
About strange people in the strangest place

It's about time
It's about flight
Traveling faster than the speed of light

It's about time for you and me
To meet these people of amazing feats
They will be here
With all of us
Dodging a taxi, a car, a bus.

It's about time
It's about space
About strange people in the strangest place

It's about time
It's about flight
Traveling faster than the speed of light

It's about time
It's about space
It's about time
It's about space
It's about time, time, time
It's about space
It's about time

It's about space
It's about time
It's about spaaaaace

It's about time
It's about space
About strange people in the strangest place

It's about time
It's about flight
Traveling faster than the speed of light

It's about time
It's about space
About strange people in the strangest place

It's about time
For our good byes
To all our pre-historic gals and guys

Thanks zin for posting this song, really like the weird time signatures by venetian snares :)

Also thanks for posting the Sons of Magdalene song "O death" in the C's 7th Feb 2015 session. I just heard it, and i didnt realise that Josh Eustis had a side project. Im a big NIN fan, and will definitely check out more songs of Sons of Magdalene and Venetian snares.

Song im listening to now is Teardrop from Massive Attack :

Love, love is a verb
Love is a doing word
Fearless on my breath
Gentle impulsion
Shakes me, makes me lighter
Fearless on my breath

Teardrop on the fire
Fearless on my breath

Night, night after day
Black flowers blossom
Fearless on my breath
Black flowers blossom
Fearless on my breath

Teardrop on the fire
Fearless on my...

Water is my eye
Most faithful mirror
Fearless on my breath
Teardrop on the fire
Of a confession
Fearless on my breath
Most faithful mirror
Fearless on my breath

Teardrop on the fire
Fearless on my breath

You stumble in the dark
You stumble in the dark

I can't help but feel heavy for Josh when I hear the Sons project. Telefon Tel Aviv's Immolate yourself is such a haunting album as a result of the loss of Charles. Both albums accompany each other well considering the circumstances behind the music, as well the material in the Sons project was written in 08/09 according to http://www.telefontelaviv.com/

Massive Attack is timeless! Nice choice. I love Elizabeth's vocals. That track is a match made in heaven.

Heaven and Hell, by Black Sabbath. Lots of esoteric meaning in this song:

Sing me a song, you're a singer
do me a wrong, you're a bringer of evil
the devil is never a maker
the less that you give, you're a taker
so it's on and on and on, it's heaven and hell
oh well
The lover of life's not a sinner
in the ending is just a beginner
the closer you get to the meaning
the sooner you'll know that you're dreaming
so it's on and on and on, oh it's on and on and on
it goes on and on and on, heaven and hell
i can tell
fool, fool

Well if it seems to be real, it's illusion
for every moment of truth, there's confusion in life
love can be seen as the answer, but nobody bleeds for the dancer
and it's on and on, on and on and on and on and on and on and on
They say that life's a carousel
spinning fast, you've got to ride it well
the world is full of kings and queens
who blind your eyes and steal your dreams
it's heaven and hell, oh well
And they'll tell you black is really white
the moon is just the sun at night
and when you walk in golden halls
you get to keep the gold that falls
it's heaven and hell, oh no
Fool, fool
you've got to bleed for the dancer
fool, fool
look for the answer
fool, fool, fool

I always found the jazz version of Midnight in Moscow fun:

"The Show Starts Now"

The physicist and the mystic say there's no such thing as time.
If God is now and everywhere, why's it so hard to find?
I wanna be the guy who lives in the moment, not so lost in my mind.
So I guess my show starts now. My show starts now

Grandma said it don't matter where we go to or come from.
She said, "Worry about what you're made to do not what you're made of."
They say we're made of chaos. I say we're made of love.
And that's why our show starts now. Our show starts now.

Hold your breath for a better day, and you'll never learn how to breathe.
You're afraid of the dark, but that's where you learn to see.
Your no good to the living if you're too afraid to bleed.

And that's why your show starts now Your show starts now.
