Joe: Welcome to this weeks sign of the times podcast. I'm Joe.
Scott: I'm Scott.
Laura: And I'm Laura.

Joe: This week we are going to discuss unsurprisingly, the recent elections in the US that is the elections for the Congress and the Senate which just happened yesterday.  As we are speaking, the final votes for who is going to have control of the Senate are not in but it looks like there is something of a sea change in that control of both houses will be transferred to the Democrats. Now reading some of the comments on websites, on news websites, comments by readers of news websites, there is a strong sense that a lot of people are somewhat hardened lets say by this news. There is a sense that people believe that this is really going to have a change or make a change and have an affect in the way that the US government, the Bush government is running things at the minute, in terms of  Iraq, in terms of domestic policy in terms of pretty much everything. It's the old idea that there really is a two party system in the US anymore and that there really is any difference between Republicans and Democrats these days.  We, as you will find out over the next 20 or 30 minutes, have a slightly different opinion on that. So, if you've read the signs page for Wednesday the 8th of November, you would have gotten an idea of what our feelings are on this change and American politics but we are going to get into the finer details of our opinion on that and what we think this really means for America and sadly for the world because that is the scope of American influence these days. What America does  affects just about everybody else.

Laura: Sad fact is that there is no democracy in America, there hasn't been a democracy in America since John Kennedy was assassinated. Those of you who have been reading the Signs page know that I am a little bit occupied with John Kennedy right now. I have been writing a series of articles and including excerpts from the mysterious book, “Farewell America�  which is supposed to have been written by elements of French and possibly even Russian intelligence describing who, where, what and how and why Kennedy was assassinated. There was a coup-d'etat back on that  November day in 1963 and the same elements who were involved in the assassination of Kennedy have been running the show ever since. So, there really is no democracy. It's all a show and if you think about it,  is necessary for them to make this show. It is necessary for them to put on this performance to keep people placated. Basically American politics is the circus part of Aldus Huxley's bread and circuses. A truly scientific dictatorship. And that what there is in America, there is a scientific dictatorship. And it's kept going and it's kept in place with bread and circuses. Yesterday we just had another example of the circus. The farce of the so called the changing of the guards. Everybody is really unhappy with Bush and the gang and the ground swell of opposition was getting just a little bit too big, and a little bit to powerful, and making a little too much noise for them to be comfortable because off course, if all the people over which they rule were to actually wake up and turn against them, they would be in serious trouble. So they create these little dramas called elections and changing of representatives and so forth, just to keep people busy, just to keep people hopeful and just to make em think that there actually is a democracy.

Scott: The whole thing with the run up to the election and Bush was kind of getting into a little bit more hot water and everything, it's almost kind of a farce because when you look at like the military commissions act, when that was passed and other similar things that they sort of push through in the months leading up to the elections and there were this various news items where it was, it pretty much seem even though there was this pressure that  was being  increased on the Bush administration, they were still getting away with all kinds of stuff. And not only that,  but there were all kinds of Democrats who were supporting the torture [Laura: Getting in line] yeah, and they were doing exactly what they've always done [Laura: Look at John McCain] yeah, I mean they supported the invasion and occupation of Iraq, they continue to do so and so it's, it's..

Laura: It's a joke. Nancy Pelosi comes along and says, oh well, we are going to change our direction on Iraq and gives no attention whatsoever to the chief thing that concerns the American people which is corruption in government. Obviously when people say in exit polls that they are concerned about corruption in government, they undoubtedly have in mind the fact that they know that George Bush lied about weapons of mass destruction, they have in mind all the mini scandals related to the various Republicans which indicate that these are totally consciousless  criminals in charge of our country and that this is the thing that concerns Americans. They are concerned about criminals in charge of the country. Nancy Pelosi comes along and says, oh well, you know, I am not in favor of  impeaching Bush or doing anything, but maybe we'll get some investigation going, I mean come on. What a joke. The first thing the woman need to say is, okay, it's show time. Let's start impeachment  proceedings, let's start some major independent, and I mean really independent investigations of 911 because 911 come on, this is what got us into the Iraq war. So let's go back to ground zero, let's investigate 911, let's impeach Bush, let's do what the American people want done. They want the corruption cleaned up right to the top and right to the bottom. And Pelosi comes along and just gives us lips service. Oh you know, well I am going to be the speaker of the house, come on, she is the third in line to presidency now.

Scott: Speaking of 911,  it was particularly curious I thought that , one day before the elections, these Zionist neo-cons, the zio-cons if you will, came out.  Richard Perle, and  another, a handful of these zio-cons types, they came out, and there was an article in Vanity Fair, they were pretty much gunning for Bush. They were pretty critical. Off course they were the ones who obviously helped to push the whole invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan and all of them, they've been sort of behind things, sort of pushing things all along from what we can see.

Laura: They were his big supporters. They were the architects of what he does. [Scott: Yeah] Now they are criticizing him. [Scott: Yeah]  What's up with that?

Scott: Yeah, the day before the elections they come out and this stuff gets published and then they publish this rebuttals and said, oh you know, that wasn't very fair of Vanity Fair to do that. We were quoted out of context and also we didn't think that our comments would be published until January [Laura: Oh yeah, right] several months after the elections. So here you have sort of this clever little maneuver where they know that Bush is in trouble. So these guys, when you talk about these Zionist cabal, they don't really care if it's Republicans, Democrats, it's all the same. As long as their gaols are achieved,  they will just use  Bush,  or they'll use Pelosi, or they will use whoever to further their ends and that hasn't changed.

Laura: And I understand that they've got Pelosi right in their pockets anyway. She was reported, prior to the election, reassuring everyone that the policy towards  Israel will change not one wit if the Democrats came to power. There are all bought and paid for [Joe: Yeah] or blackmailed.

Joe: Yes, that's gets to the explanation of why we are saying that there will be no change regardless of who is in power in the US and [Laura: They are not really not in power, that's the thing] yeah, that's probably, I guess that they are part of it. [Laura: They are just the puppets] Yeah and as you say Nancy Pelosi is a long term supporter of Zionism. She is on record, over the past number of years, speaking at AIPAC conferences, stating over and over again that America's commitment to the safety and security of the state of Israel is unwavering and nothing will ever change. This is the one aspect that isn't talked about. Laura has mentioned even the Iraq war, even the corruption in the US and I am sure they maybe even  people who will come out on the ticket of, we are gonna to stop corruption in government, we are gonna to stop the Iraq war, we are gonna to pull the troops out, but no one in US politics has any opinion that wavers from full and unwavering support of the state of Israel. And that points us exactly to, like we are saying, the real power behind US politics.

Laura: Meet the new boss same as the old boss.

Joe: Well, this morning after I got up, I was expecting to come down and check on the state of the elections and see what had happened, but before I could even find anything out about how people voted or what way it was going, I was confronted with a story from Palestine, from Gaza specifically from the town of Bet-Hanoun , where in the early hours of this 8th of November, Wednesday, the Israeli military fired several tank shells into the village of about 35,000 people into a group [Laura: 35 thousand or 35 hundred?] 35,thousand [Laura: 35 thousand?] uh hmm [Laura: Good grief] fired tank shells and hit several houses,  killing 20 people as they slept in their beds, at least nine or ten of which were children, all of them innocent civilians. But as far as we are  concerned , everyone in Palestine are innocent civilians. I am sure there is militants but there are fighting a just cause against oppressors. This was an act of mass murder and it is no surprise that this happened on the day that the news website and the newspapers were going to be dominated by reports of what had happened in the elections in the US. It is a very cynical ploy off course. The Israeli propaganda machine, the Israeli military, the Israeli media, the Israeli government immediately claimed that this was a case of an accident but no Israeli government official or military official could be found who was willing to express any kind of real regret or remorse for killing 20 innocent Palestinian innocent children. Blowing them to pieces literally and pools of blood in the streets. So the fact is, this is very much connected, although it hasn't really appeared, it's been sidelined to a large extent by the elections, but this is very much connected to what we are talking about,  to the US elections. This murder of 20 Palestinians and the elections, goes right to the heart of the people or the group that controls political power within the US.

Laura: Oh it's kind of like a statement.  Everybody is occupied with the elections and it's a perfect time for Israel to make a statement about what they are going to do, what they are going to continue to do and what they are capable of doing. Off course their excuse that it was a mistake, I mean, didn't they use that an awful a lot when they were bombing the hell out of Lebanon? Well it was just a mistake, I mean, for being supposedly the smartest bunch of people on the planet as is quite often tauted by they themselves, [Joe: Yeah, how they mistakenly killed 1400 people over a month.] they make so many mistakes that it's absolutely unbelievable how many they make. [Joe: Well it is not believable, that's about right...(?)...unbelievable] And then at the same time you have this other event that happened over in Pakistan where what 35 people killed by a “suicide bomber� . And all this happening on election day which is basically just telling us, it's business as usual people. There is no change, there is no democracy in America, there is not a new group in power. It is just the same thing under a different name. There is an interesting question that comes out of all this and that is what do we think that may happen next? Because off course, there were a lot of predictions about  a new 911 type event, some kind of  a terrorist attack, or faked false flag terrorist attack in the US. At this point it seems that the psychological ploy of changing the government is sufficient to put most people back to sleep. To make them think that the system is working and now they just have to spent some time waiting to see what the new democratic power coalition is going to do.  They're all going to take care of Bush, they are going to get us out of this mess that we are in, they're are going to give back some money to the poor people or the middle classes, there are going to give a tax deduction for college education expenses, they're going to allow Medicare to reduce the cost of drugs, they're going to try to get stem cell research back on-line, you know, all this things that  are like bread being handed out in the midst of the circus. Giving the people these things, oh we are going to do this, we are going to do that, forget about the fact that you're all upset about the corruption. So for a little while, I think that what is going to happen is that this is going to calm people down enough. It is going to take the pressure off, it's going to take the heat off. It's letting some steam out of the cooker so that they can buy some time because off course they not quite ready for their big move yet. But I don't for a minute think that it is really going to change anything significantly in the US because the Democrats, I don't see them going into Congress and saying, okay, now you turkeys, you passed this military tribunal law, we are going to undo that, you passed this illegal eves dropping law, we are going to undo that, you passed this patriot act law and you instituted this, virtually, martial law even though it is not called that, so now we are going to undo that. This are the things that they should be doing. This is the first things that should be on their agenda, to completely repeal  the military tribunal act, the illegal eves dropping act and to actually to repeal the patriot act and most definitely the torture bill. All these things should be the the first things on the agenda for these Democrats to repeal. Lets see if they do even one of them and I am willing to bet you dollars to dough nuts, they don't touch any of it because they are still pushing the same agenda.

Joe: Well off course the problem with the idea that they would repeal any of these is that the majority of Democrats voted in most of those cases actually voted for those measures, for those draconian measures and....

Laura: And they voted for those measures with millions of their constituents writing in, phoning, faxing and saying we are against it. [Joe: Yeah] Those were the things the people of the US are against and they are not being represented by their representatives in anyway whatsoever in the Congress of the United States.

Joe: What we see is that over the past six years, the Bush government has used 911 and the whole war on terrorism to pass all of these draconian measures that are essentially the preparation step before an overt kind of police state or a dictatorship where the government can basically do whatever it chooses and there are a lot of provisions for complete control being handed to the executive government in the event of another  terror attack. It's all in place and the only thing that's missing is another terror attack or perhaps another war because everyone  knows that in the...

Laura: There is one thing that occurs to me that was mentioned right away in some of  the democratic talking points that were reported in the news today and they were talking about the illegal immigration. Now the funny thing about this illegal immigration is that it is being made such an issue of. There is so many patriot groups and patriot websites and they are ranting and raving, illegal immigration, now this is a terrible thing you know, there are taking our jobs, well come on. Illegal immigrants are not taking your jobs. You don't have any jobs because the United States government gives so many tax breaks for corporations that setup operations off shore that it's cheaper and better and they make more money, if they build their factories in Mexico, or China,  or Thailand or somewhere in Malaysia. It's really strange that the Mexicans people are coming across the border into the United States when all the factories where they could be getting jobs are down in Mexico to begin with or China or wherever. So they have been making this huge issue about illegal immigration and I really don't think that it is a problem that it is made out to be. I think that this is a cover for something. They do have all of this interesting little holidays camps built by Haliburton and setup basically on the same model as concentration camps back during Nazi Germany. Who is to say that this is just setup to start rounding people up under the guise of rounding up illegal immigrants because off course when you read the stories about the building of these camps, they talk about them being used for housing illegal immigrants. So they start  rounding them up these  illegal immigrants and  then how hard is to for them to just start throwing in political enemies, dissidents, Arab terrorist, enemy combatants, whoever you want to designate as being deserving of being put in a camp. So I think that this is the tact that the Democrats are going to follow. They are going to start promoting the idea that they are going after illegal immigration which is something that Bush didn't deal with at all. Come on, there is no reason for em not too. I mean, it's all over, enemy combatants, and anybody who has skin color other than a white Anglo Saxon. So why was he allowing this to go on? Why was he letting this distraction continue? So that's what I think is going to happen. I think there's gonna to be a cover for the beginning and they are going to test it on the public. They are going to start rounding up illegal immigrants and putting them in concentration camps and well they are going to call em detention centers but it's the same thing. And they are going to see how the public responds to that and then they are going to be picking up enemy combatants and then they going to be rounding up so called covert terrorists and these terrorists are not going to be necessarily Arabic. They are going to be anybody who doesn't agree with the administration's, or with the governments policies. As long as people allow it to happen first of all to the immigrants whom they have been riled up to hate, been riled up to think that they are stealing their jobs, stealing their food, stealing their woman, oh my god. So everybody is going to be happy to see these illegal immigrants going to these camps. And they are going to be happy to see whatever happens to them there, be put to work, they gonna to be slave labor and then it's just going to be like the frog in the pan of water, it is going to start...

Joe: Yeah. It's the acclimatisation of the population to imprisoning [Laura: Anybody who is different.] first of all, people who are living in America [Laura: Uh hmm] people who are living in America. First of all these illegal Americans, people who are Americans residents, who are actually American citizens can feel safe. But then that can be easily pushed towards, if there is some kind of a protest or demonstrations or some kind of  a problem arises and people are arrested, there is a mass protest, then a lot of American citizens could be  imprisoned. So as you say, the illegal immigrations thing really is a fabrication. [Laura: Yeah] I mean people are been told [Laura: It's a red herring] via the media what they fear, what they should fear. [Laura: Uh hmm] They been told what they have a problem with. [Laura: They...] You guys have a problem with illegal immigration, but nobody has a problem with [Laura: (?) been able to trust the media] Exactly. It's the same with terrorism. People have been told, over the past  six years people have been told that they need to hate and fear Arabs, Muslims “terrorists� . That was the first step. Then as you say the next step towards essentially a fascist state where American citizens are imprisoned or American citizens become the enemy, the next step is illegal immigrants because it's the first step down the road from terrorists. Terrorists are generally overseas. They are Arab terrorists but at the same time all of this happening, at the same time you've got this whole idea of domestic terrorism. You got illegal immigrants and you've got detention centers and if you can't see where that's going, then you are blind.

Laura:  Yeah and they've got to test on the population the  idea [Joe: Uh hmm]of putting people in camps simply for who they are, not necessarily because they are criminals. I mean it is one thing to put terrorists in detention and is something else altogether [Joe: Uh hmm] to start picking people up and putting them in literally prison camps [Joe: Uh hmm] just for being [Joe: Because they are part of a group] because they are part of a group and off course that would include children in detention camps. How easy is it going to be to acclimatise the American population to seeing camps with all age ranges of human beings who are in there, just for being who they are,  not because they have done anything wrong. This is what they did in Germany. This is what they did with the Jews. They created these camps and then they made the Jews to be the pariahs, to be the scape goats and then they started putting them into these camps. Old man, old woman, pregnant woman, children, babies, the whole nine yards and the whole German population were being acclimatised to having these done to a group of people who they saw, were taking their money, taking their jobs, causing problems in their economy,  taking [Joe: Uh hmm] things away from them, [Joe: Uh hmm] and this is exactly the label that's being put on the illegal immigrants in the US and this is being done right in front of our faces. So just be aware, this is a red herring.

Scott: Yeah, that is kind of the perfect setup because obviously the Bush administration and everyone else knows that the American economy is not exactly in great shape and when you compare what like, even main stream media outlets and what like American themselves are saying about the American economy right now, compared to what that was a year ago, it is clear that the economic situation has become a pretty grave concern. So it's very easy to see how this sort of talk of the   whole illegal immigration thing and then the economic starts to stumble little bit and it goes and all of a sudden, you know. Right now it may seem strange to people that, oh we would never support rounding up illegal immigrants and putting them into camps, but what happens when the economy goes into the toilet and inflation goes up and with the massive debt and everything, it would be, you know, many analyst have predicted that a crash that occurred in the US right now obviously would affect the global economy but they have pretty much concluded that the situation in the US right now would lead to a crash even worst than the Great Depression. So if you have all this angst and  this anger and all of a sudden the whole situation changes, they blame it on the illegal immigrants and that's like basically the test which after an economic crash would not be, it probably wouldn't even have to be that big of a crash, because they have pretty much set the stage, even if it isn't like a big disaster, they have already set the stage with all the anti-immigrations and all the hostility, and the racism. So it would be a very simple way to sort of, you distract the people with getting some innocent Democrats in the office, oh things will change, you distract them just long enough to get all you ducks in a row and [Laura: And start this little process and] you push the domino over and it all starts..

Laura:  And it all start to fall into place and if you think about it, it's really sad that so many people don't see this because the real problem with the American economic is the fact that legislation has allowed American companies, to be American companies but to not be in America. To out source all their labor, for example many phone companies, many collection agencies, many customer service companies, many of those things, they out source all their labor to places like India, to Malaysia,  Indonesia because they can get the labor there really really cheap and they should be forced by legislation to keep those jobs in the United States. Actually the only jobs, eventually the only jobs that will be left in the United States itself will be what they call the service industry. People who flip buggers at Mac Donald's, or nurses, nurses aids, doctors etcetera, etcetera and the competition for those jobs, those minimalist jobs among the American citizens is very high and then off course you have these so called illegal immigrants who come along and then they will do it for less because it's more the what they were getting from the American companies with their factories in Mexico because at least in the United States they have to pay minimum wage.

Joe: And then there is also the military.

Laura:  And then there is also the military. [Joe: As a last option] Sure because driving the economy into tank mode makes the military extremely attractive. So many people will go into the military because there is no other place  to go to.  [Joe: And its..] There is no other way to have a living.

Joe: And it is an amazing coincidence that the Americans and Israelis are planning to expand their war on terror in which they will need a lot more soldiers. So it is really strange that this is happening at about the same time.

Laura. Yeah. So we've got,  basically we are predicting that this issue about the illegal immigration  is going to be a snow job and it's going to be an acclimatisation process.  It's going to lead ultimately to some pretty large operations. Concentration camps that  are going to include not just illegal immigrants but they are going to include probably even homeless Americans. They will start putting them there also. I mean it's not a big step to go from illegal immigrants to go to people who are living on the streets because the economy has treated them so badly, that they are not able to keep their homes or their families together. And then you have a large population of people who are going to be kick out of hospitals because they no longer have any services to pay for their care. People being released from mental hospitals because there is no services to pay for their care. In fact I read a story about this happening I believe it's in Los Angeles, what about a week ago, where they actually discovered that a hospital was taking patients and releasing them on skid row, they would kick them out and then they would turn them loose on skid row. The reason it came to the attention of the media, and it didn't make a big splash, I mean it died fairly quickly, was because one of the people that they kicked out of the hospital or released and drop off on skid row actually happened to have a family and a home and he just wasn't released to his family. His family was never contacted. They just drove him down to skid row, put him out on the street with his little bundle of goodies and said sayonara. So this is going to be happening often. So this people are going to go to concentration camps and it's not going to be long before just about anybody is going to be subject to being ratted on by their neighbors because off course that was one of the main things about the so called vast and comprehensive network of the SS during Nazi Germany. It wasn't that they were so vast and that they were so competent but it was because they had a program where neighbors turned in other neighbors. And this is something that was demonstrated. There was a television documentary about it not too long ago where they pointed out that, they went through these old SS records and they discovered that the majority of the so called intelligence collected by the SS was not really intelligence collected by agents, it was people turning in their neighbors. People turning in people down the street. Oh, you know, send a letter in and say, so and so acts strange, they come in late at night, they hang out with so and so and then off course the person would be picked up, interrogated, put in a camp. This is going to happen.

Joe: That has happened you know. That happened because an atmosphere of fear and suspicion will spread and you have this citizens [Laura: Who have decided to be a terrorist] yeah. Under the Patriot act, you have the citizen spooks kind of program where what you are exactly describing happened in Nazi Germany is being promoted by the government that is [Laura: Children turning in their parents] yes. Civilians are encouraged to keep an eye out cause you never know about Arab terrorists or you never know about illegal immigrants and if you report this things you would be a good citizen. The ironic thing about all of this is that you mentioned, that this is what happened in Nazi Germany. The Nazis told the population that the Jews and other minorities were taking away their jobs and they were a threat to German society and this is exactly what we have in America. I am sure people or anybody who  looks back at the second world war or leading up to the second world war in Germany, they wonder how can that have happened? How can people have been so blind? [Laura: Well you can look around you and see and how it happened.] Exactly. [Laura: It's happening now.]Yes. That's the amazing thing. People think that the German people of the time, they must have been on drugs or something that they just couldn't see it. [Laura: Or hypnotized] Yeah, it is so obvious in hindsight now. Why couldn't they  have seen it? Look at what was happening. How could they have not known that, that those  are plans to commit the atrocities and to doom Germany with the Nazi's did. How can they have not seen that coming? They didn't see it for the exactly the same reasons Americans aren't seeing it now. And what are those reasons? [Laura: Fear] Well, it's the age old question. Why don't people stop and think and look credibly at things. Make that leap to the idea that the people that  have been elected to represents us, the people who are in power, who rule over us and who are our supposedly benefactors and our protectors are in fact in it for themselves. Many of them are in fact evil people. They have been corrupted by power or they were born corrupted. They are psychopaths and they do not care. They couldn't careless about the civilian population. They are so far removed from them. They see them as mere cattle to be used and abused and they see them that way because that is the way the system has always been. In a way you can't actually blame these people, these powerful politicians and the so called elite for seeing people in this way, because people act in that way, people submit, people don't question. When these people lie, people swallow it. So their judgment, their  view of the ordinary people as Kissinger called them, “useless eaters� , is to some extent, from one point of view an accurate portrayal of the average population. Now you have to question or decide for yourself whether you want to be portrayed in that way, or whether you want to be treated like a useless eater.

Laura: And the thing is, this brings us right back around. The so called useless eaters as they referred to them, as Kissinger referred to them, the masses of population in American and elsewhere in the world, they fear them. And that's why they have put on this stage play called an election and they have made sure that their Democrats or go by the label Democrats, have been voted in and off course we notice that select Republicans also remain in their offices because there was no Democrat that they could control to run against them. And now we have supposedly a so called sea change and it is no sea change whatsoever. It just simply business as usual. Meet the new boss same as the old boss just under a different name.

Hi everyone,  I want to acknowledge the accuracy of the SOTT teams comments in this podcast in relation to the  latest Australian 2007 national election. Kevin Rudd, a Labor (supposedly Left leaning party) politician, is taking over from John Howard, a Liberal (right wing party) politcian as Prime Minister of Australia.  
Rudd campaigned on having an exit strategy for Australian troops in Iraq. He would stand up to the Bush administration and get our troops out of Iraq. This scored points for the Rudd campaign. Now we find that Australia is going to not only "stay the course" in Afghanistan but increase our involvement. Nice one Kev! All we are doing is pulling troops from Iraq to put them into Afghanistan. Australia is also instrumental in pressuring other countries for more assistance in Afghanistan. Meet the new Australian boss!
In Rudd's acceptance speech one of the first things out of his mouth was to say something to the effect that I have just got off the phone to President Bush and reaffirmed our commitment to the Australia/United States alliance. The government might have changed but it is business as usual. Same as the old Australian boss!
The one thing that is given a lot less coverage is senior members of the government from Rudd down pledging full support for Israel. This is not usually in mainstream media or not given huge exposure but is significant in media such as the Australian Jewish News newspaper. Meet the real Australian boss!
Apparently our draconian "illegal refugee" detention centres our going to be closed with the new government or is in the process of. I don't know what we can replace them with but maybe a militarised police force with tasers is a good place to start?
Basically this latest Australian election just gave the illusion of choice. Just as the SOTT team said about the US congress and senate elections.
