I totally agree. I`m not much of an opera buff, but I might be getting there.
(Discovered the works of Henry Purcel and Samuel Barber this year).
Had to watch it twice to be sure it was real! Got goosebumps all over.

I've seen it a bunch of times, but I still start crying every time I see it. Absolutely fantastic, and a revenge of sorts for all bullied people around the world. A diamond indeed!
 
I have loved Opera for years... in fact, we used to listen to opera while chatting with the Cs... they liked it too!

So, what's up with this guy? Has he got a contract or something?

Although I'm not big opera fan I must admit he got my full attention! This is more then opera, this is story of life.

I ordered the CD. I read some of the reviews and realize that the production was fast and may not be the best showcasing of this guy's voice, but who cares when he puts his heart in it?

I have some old and rare recordings of some of the last castrati and they are pretty poor quality, but even with a poor quality recording, with a little soul and imagination, you can almost hear it as it was originally.

I just hope that M. Potts will stay as he was during the audition. Singing with his heart and being humble as we can feel the true emotion and a true natural opera singer not corrupted by the world of the showbiss as i think was M. Pavarotti.

I've watched this several times now and each time my eyes start leeking. Maybe there's a big element of camera editing and stuff to try to stir viewers emotions etc. but worth a look I think.
