Some research journal editors (eg Richard Horten, Marcia Angell) suspect that one half of all published studies or more are worthless, ranging from biased, to poorly designed or executed, to outright fraudulent.

It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines.
