This is the spot where the now famous tomb once stood that was supposed to look just like the tomb in the Poussin painting. It has been bulldozed. What's more, there really isn't much to see from this spot on the side of the road. My general impression of the whole Rennes-le-Chateau phenomenon is that it is sort of a "false flag operation" designed to draw attention away from something that is truly revealing elsewhere. At Rennes, I received powerful impressions that Abbe Sauniere really knew nothing, but that he certainly was living in an area where somebody knew something of importance and he was aware of that. He may have attempted to penetrate the secrets, but failed. There are no secrets encoded at Rennes, it is a myth created to divert attention and possibly to create a tourist attraction for the purpose of making money in an area where that might be seen as the only way to do it. |
