ISIS claims responsibility for London underground blast

Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) terrorists have claimed responsibility for an explosion at the Parsons Green underground station in London which injured 29 people on a packed rush hour train.

The claim was made through its propaganda wing, the Amaq News Agency, stating that an IS "detachment" was responsible for the blast.

https://www.rt.com/uk/403495-isis-claims-responsibility-for-blast-tube/

Armed police rushed to the Parsons Green station where the bomb, a pressure-cooker device similar to the one used in the Boston Marathon, failed to fully detonate. Though 29 people have been injured, none of their wounds are believed to be serious or life-threatening, according to the London Ambulance Service.

Police have launched a manhunt for a suspect thought to be behind the attack, which they have identified through CCTV footage.

British Prime Minister Theresa May condemned the "cowardly" attack "intended to cause significant harm." She announced the deployment of more armed police around the London's transport network.

Britain's top counter terrorism officer said on Friday that authorities are making excellent progress in the investigation and has asked permission for the military to get involved in order to free up police resources.

He further said it was routine for ISIS to claim responsibility for the attack, regardless of whether they were involved or not.

If confirmed, this would mark the fourth attack by Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) on Great Britain this year. The first was the Westminster Bridge attack, in which 52-year-old Khalid Masood mowed down a crowd of pedestrians in a car before stabbing a police officer to death. The Manchester Arena bombing then followed, in which a suicide bomber killed 22 people, many of them children, at an Ariana Grande concert in May. The third attack came in June, when a group of terrorists drove into pedestrians in London before going on a deadly stabbing rampage through local bars and restaurants.

The perpetrators were killed at the scene in all of the attacks.

The pressure just continues.

Parsons Green: UK raises terror threat to critical after London terrorist bomb attack

The UK has raised its terror threat level to critical, meaning an attack is expected soon. The "Islamic State" said it was linked to the blast that injured 29 people in a crowded London Underground train.

British police embarked on a wide manhunt on Friday following a terrorist attack on a London subway train.
An improvised device hidden inside a plastic bucket and a supermarket freezer bag exploded inside a packed train carriage, injuring 29 people, mostly with burns.
"Clearly, this was a device that was intended to cause significant harm," Prime Minister Theresa May said after calling a meeting of the government's COBRA emergency committee.

Later on Friday, May said the country's threat level had been raised from severe to the highest possible level of critical, which means an attack is expected imminently.
"The public will see more armed police on the transport network and on our streets providing extra protection," May said.
"This is a proportionate and sensible step which will provide extra reassurance and protection while the investigation progresses."

IS claims link
The so-called "Islamic State" claimed an affiliated group was responsible for the blast, according to the militant group's Amaq propaganda arm. A British counterterrorism police officer said IS often claims responsibility for attacks it has no role in and that authorities were chasing down suspects and leads.
Eyewitnesses told a DW correspondent that some injuries were caused by the blast itself, while others resulted from the stampede that followed as train passengers attempted to rush out of a station normally used by fewer people.
Others described "absolute chaos" as hundreds of people fled the flames.
"I ended up squashed on the staircase. People were falling over, people fainting, crying, there were little kids clinging onto the back of me," 25-year-old Ryan Barnett told The Associated Press.
Investigators scour CCTV footage
British police said hundreds of detectives were making urgent inquiries to find out the identity of the bomber and were backed by intelligence services.
Britain's most senior counterterrorism officer, Mark Rowley, said no one had been arrested in connection with the attack but that detectives were reviewing surveillance camera footage, carrying out forensic work and speaking to witnesses.

The Metropolitan Police force said police were "making fast-time inquiries to establish who was responsible and are working closely with the security services."
"There is a manhunt underway as we speak," London Mayor Sadiq Khan told LBC radio, urging Londoners to remain "calm and vigilant."
"As London has proven again and again, we will never be intimidated or defeated by terrorism," he said.

Device failed
Counterterrorism experts said the device seemed to have malfunctioned, averting a larger catastrophe.
"They were really lucky with this one, it could have really become much worse," said terrorism analyst Magnus Ranstorp of the Swedish Defense University. "It seems that this was hastily put together. Probably not very well mixed together."
Judging from the photos, he said it appeared that the bomb did not fully detonate, as much of the device and its casing remained intact, making it easier for investigators to determine the composition of the bomb.
European leaders sent their condolences to their British neighbors following the incident.
"Our thoughts are of course with the wounded, our thoughts are with the British population," said German Chancellor Angela Merkel, after a meeting with French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe in Berlin.
Philippe said the London attack and a separate knife incident in Paris early Friday "show how much we collectively, in France, Britain and also in Germany, face a major threat."
He added that "we must find answers at the national level and all together ... to give our fellow citizens the greatest possible security," including intelligence cooperation.

Trump's comments unhelpful
US President Donald Trump used the attack to call for stronger action against terrorists.
"These are sick and demented people who were in the sights of Scotland Yard. Must be proactive!" he said on Twitter, without explaining further.
"Loser terrorists must be dealt with in a much tougher manner. The internet is their main recruitment tool which we must cut off & use better," he said.

London's Metropolitan Police labeled Trump's comments as "unhelpful speculation," while Prime Minister May said in response to a question on them: "I never think it's helpful for anybody to speculate on what is an ongoing investigation."
Counterterrorism policing chief Rowley said earlier this week that police had thwarted 13 potential attacks in the three years to March 2017. In the 17 weeks since then, authorities thwarted six others but four attacks were successful, not including Friday's attack.

'Is This the New Norm?' UK Passengers Will Have to Get Used to Long-Term Threat

But Friday's attack came only months after a suicide bomb attack in Manchester and incidents involving vans, cars and knives in Westminster and Borough Market in London.

"We have to ask now 'is this the new norm?' " said Dr. Lowe, who drew comparisons with the Irish Republican Army's campaign of terror, which lasted throughout the 1970s and 1980s and well into the 1990s.

"The Provisional IRA's England department generally phoned in a coded warning but these people give no warning at all. In fact they are prepared to kill themselves. It is a very sad state of affairs," he told Sputnik.

He said Daesh were very quick to claim responsibility for the Parsons Green attack, but there was no evidence they actually had any knowledge of it beforehand, let alone plotted it.

"We have to be pragmatic. With the sheer volume of passengers on the underground network, not just in London but across major European cities, there is no way of preventing this but what we have got to do is be a bit more vigilant. If you see a suspect package and someone has left it, pull the emergency cord and try to evacuate the scene as soon as possible," Dr. Lowe told Sputnik.

Plain-clothes SAS troops deployed on London Underground with ‘shoot to kill’ orders Video

Armed SAS troops are being deployed on the London Underground with orders to “shoot to kill” terrorists following the Parsons Green attack, according to reports.

Members of the Special Air Service and the Special Reconnaissance Regiment have been told to target terrorists on trains, buses and planes. Some will patrol London’s busy tube network in pairs, disguised as civilian couples.

They will be armed with Glock 9mm semi-automatic pistols so they can “take down” gunmen and suicide bombers, the Daily Star reports.

A source told the newspaper they are trained in “rapid-fire techniques,” adding, “The task force is comprised of some of the most experienced special forces personnel in the Army.

“The unit is comprised of some of both male and female personnel from the Special Reconnaissance Regiment, who are trained killers and can pose as couples while traveling on public transport.”

The paper also reports that trained personnel have been given “soft-nose” bullets to limit the risk to other passengers who are traveling on public transport.

It comes as two men have been arrested in connection with the Parsons Green bucket bomb. An 18-year-old, believed to be an Iraqi refugee, is being quizzed by cops after being seized in Dover on Saturday.

At 8:20am on Friday, an improvised explosive device (IED) went off, but failed to detonate properly, injuring 30 people in a fireball but failing to cause the intended carnage.

The 18-year-old reportedly “froze” as he was surrounded by police after being tracked by facial-recognition technology.

A second man, a 21-year-old believed to be from Syria, was arrested late on Saturday night.

Special Reconnaissance Regiment Operations
Since its formation in April 2005, the SRR has been involved in several controversial operations:

Stockwell
In July 2005, following a wave of bombings in London, the SRR were deployed on the streets of the UK capital in a bid to counter the threat. It was reported that members from the SRR were involved in the surveillance operation involving Brazilian, Jean Charles de Menezes. The electrician was mistakenly thought to be connected to the July 7 attacks and was trailed to an underground tube station by SRR operatives. As he boarded the train, he was fatally shot by police.

note: the official IPCC report into the Stockwell incident does not mention the SRR, instead identifying the surveillance operatives involved as being from S012 (Special Branch) and S013 (Anti-terrorist Branch) (both now combined into S015 Counter Terrorism Command). Some reports indicate that the SRR provided 'technical assistance' to the Police at the time.

SRR operators arrested in Basra, Sept 2005

In September 2005, 2 members of the Special Reconnaissance Regiment were reportedly arrested in the Southern Iraqi city of Basra. They had apparently been involved in a surveillance operation against the local police when they aroused the suspicion of Iraqi police. A gunfight ensued and the 2 SRR operators were taken into custody. Unable to secure the 2 men's release through diplomatic means, they were rescued by their SAS colleagues in a controversial operation which included the use of British APCs in a diversionary raid on a police station.

Note: later reports indicate that the 2 captured soldiers may have been from the SAS

One thing that really bothers me in these attacks is the way the police are wearing these god awful masks. Like who wants to look like the terrorists you are defending against anyway.

Daytime ninjas are not the solution if you ask me.

For a SWAT team maybe it makes some sense.

But the militarization is becoming the norm it seems.

Of course there probably will be more riots to control too. Something to look forward to I guess unless the timeline shifts to a more sane world.

It's like the nephalim have landed and are ready to roll.

In the Netherlands, reports have surfaced of a family connection over here for one of the arrested suspects, Yahyah Farroukh:

London terror suspect has family in Noord-Brabant

By Janene Pieters on September 19, 2017 - 09:45

One of the suspects arrested in connection with a terrorist attack on the Parsons Green tube station in London on Friday, has family living in Noord-Brabant, according to Arabic journalist Jenan Moussa, who spoke with the family. She posted their conversation on Twitter.

The suspect in question is 21-year-old Yahyah Farroukh, AD reports. He was arrested on Saturday night, after a homemade bomb went off on Parsons Green on Friday, injuring 29 people. A second arrested suspect, an 18-year-old Iraqi boy, lived in the same foster home as Farroukh in the United Kingdom.

Jenan Moussa spoke to Farroukh's brother, his wife and sister-in-law. According to her, they live in Noord-Brabant, exactly where was not revealed, to protect their privacy. All three family members say they are "shocked" by Farroukh's arrest. "I'm shocked by his arrest. He's ambitious, loves the UK, studies to be a journalist", the brother said. "Can't believe he has anything to do with terrorism." His sister-in-law added: "He wouldn't hurt an ant."

The brother spoke to Farroukh on Thursday or Friday, and is convinced of his innocence. "He was normal. My brother is only a suspect. I hope he'll be cleared soon."

According to the family, they left the Syrian capital of Damascus in 2012 and moved to Egypt. In 2013 Farroukh took a boat to Italy, and from there went to the United Kingdom. He was 16 at the time, and was placed in an English foster home. He's been living on his own for about a year. Farroukh's family stayed in Egypt for a time longer. They only came to Europe in 2015, moving through Turkey and Greece to finally apply for asylum in the Netherlands.

There are rumors that Farroukh became radicalized after his father was killed in Syria, but the family denies this. According to the family, their father was sick and died in a hospital in Egypt.

London terror suspect ‘was in Brabant for Eid'

September 19, 2017 - By Senay Boztas

A Syrian 21-year-old arrested in connection with the bomb attack on London Underground came to North Brabant to see his family for Eid, it has been reported.

According to a series of Tweets on Monday night by Arabic Al Aan television reporter Jenan Moussa, Yahyah Farroukh’s brother, sister-in-law and another family member have been granted asylum to live in the Netherlands.

Moussa, who claims to have had an exclusive interview with the family, writes that the unnamed brother was ‘shocked by his arrest’ and couldn’t ‘believe he has anything to do with terrorism.’

<snip of two twitter images>

Thirty people were injured when a home-made bomb partially exploded in a train at Parsons Green tube station on Friday 15th September.

A day later, an 18-year-old man thought to be an Iraqi orphan was arrested at Dover port and Farroukh was picked up outside a fried chicken shop in Hounslow.

Both young men have been linked to a foster home in Sunbury-on-Thames, which is being searched by British police.

Eid visit

According to Moussa, Farroukh had allegedly visited the Netherlands during the last Eid celebrations in June ‘after [his] father passed away in Egypt.’

A Dutch journalist known to work with Moussa, Harald Doornbos, added on Twitter that the family does not live in an asylum centre but ‘in a normal house.’

No details about their names or exact location have been given, ‘for privacy reasons’ and the family reportedly said they were not contacted by authorities after the arrest. They reportedly said that Farroukh arrived in the UK at the age of 16, via Egypt and Syria, ‘loves the UK [and is studying] to be a journalist’.

The Telegraaf (in Dutch) claimed that Dutch anti-terror services are aware of the reports.

Funny how the suspects just have to look the part by being young and be of Middle East origin isn't it? It just adds to the despicable nature of these "False Flag" attacks. I really doubt that these two had anything to do with it at this point. :/

Could these Syrian / Middle Eastern refugees who end up being involved in terrorist attacks also be an example of Greenbaumed cases?

I guess the C's were quite right that their said that 6% of all refugees aren't real refugees but agents. Well, it's not exactly the first time the pathological 6% ruins it for everyone else.

I see what you mean ant22. Being Greenbaumed they would appear to others as perfectly "normal" until triggered. And it seems like Laura sees this as going to plan even though there is some space between the triggering. The attacks are getting closer and closer together I think.

Yeah goyacobol, the space between each episode does make me wonder as the C's said they're programmed to go off "all at once". My personal take on this is that making them go off one by one like a domino is more useful because it keeps the fear going. I guess if they really did go off all at exactly the same time we'd have a huge mess for a period of time and then things would start to calm down.

But the way I see it is that keeping the fear and paranoia going makes long-term fear-based manipulation easier. So maybe "all at once" means around the same time rather that at precisely the same time?

We've had rape increase reports in countries that accepted refugees and a lot of suspects or perpetrators are explicitly reported to be refugees. We've also had increase in numbers of stabbings and explosions. Heck, I think I'm going to read through the Greenbaum speech again to check what else is on the menu! :scared:

This one was a nice INTRO for the News items about trump and the UN.

Though that does seem to have more to do with N Korea,

Yeah, I think Laura has picked up on the "timing" aspect of this. By the time we see it everywhere all at once we will be in deep doo doo so to speak. A STUDENT arrested in connection with the Parson's Green tube bomb attack has been released with no further action.

Syrian Yahyah Farroukh, 21, was arrested by police at the Aladdin's Fried Chicken in Hounslow, west London where he worked.

Five other men remain in custody in connection with last Friday's attack, which saw a crude home-made bomb left on a London Underground train.

No-one was killed when the device failed to properly detonate, but 30 passengers were injured.

Commander Dean Haydon, head of the Met Counter Terrorism Command, said: "This continues to be a fast-moving investigation.

"A significant amount of activity has taken place since the attack on Friday.

"We have five males in custody and searches are continuing at four addresses. Detectives are carrying out extensive inquiries to determine the full facts behind the attack.

"We anticipate that the searches will take some days to complete and may cause further disruption.

"However, it is important that we continue with these searches and I'd like to thank all those affected for their support, patience and cooperation.

"As police and our partners do all we can to confront the threat, public vigilance remains as vital as ever."

The public are asked to report any suspicious activity to police by calling in confidence on 0800 789 321 or in an emergency dial 999.

There was yet another incident on the London underground last night, this time at the Old Street station. Despite photos and videos of over 20 marked and unmarked police cars arriving on the scene, it looks like nothing happened really.

I wonder whether this is a case of the police overreacting to an enquiry because it involved a "loud bang" and a man "acting suspiciously" - or a deliberate attempt to keep the threat alive in everyone's mind.

I also wonder what the "loud bang" was.
