Recalling the elections in France, the Catalonia independence referendum and the Brexit vote, the seasoned diplomat, known for his sense of humor, was asked to share Moscow's foreign policy plans for next year.

"You haven't mentioned all we've done. What about Sweden, Denmark, Montenegro, Macedonia and Austria? We've worked hard, [meddling] isn't that easy," Lavrov joked on NTV channel's 'Mezhdunarodnaya Pilorama' ('International Sawmill') show.

Russia got so involved in other states' affairs, it didn't have enough time for other important things. "For instance, to develop cultural ties with Japan, we had to organize a big and successful festival there [at the last moment]," Russia's Foreign Minister said. "However, so far, we've failed to take down the Japanese Emperor."

Apparently, the Japanese leader still "has two more years." "We did everything to speed up the process, but he managed to beg for some more time," Lavrov said sarcastically.

Schiphol footage of MH17 victims released to relatives this week

Relatives of MH17 victims can view the final footage of their loved ones, recorded by security cameras at Schiphol Airport, from this week. How many relatives will actually do so, is not yet clear. Though according to the Ministry of Justice and Security, there is "certainly" interest to do so, RTL Nieuws reports.

Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur was shot down over eastern Ukraine on July 17th, 2014. All 298 people on board the plane were killed, including 196 Dutch. So far investigation revealed that the Boeing 777 was shot down by a BUK missile system, fired from a field in Ukraine that was under the control of pro-Russian separatists at the time. Investigators also managed to track the transport of the BUK missile from Russia to the field and back.

The relatives who want to view this Schiphol footage will first need to sign a confidentiality agreement, in order to protect the privacy of other Schiphol travelers on the footage. They can then watch the footage and search out their loved ones. If they find their family members on the footage, they can take the footage home after the other people have been made unrecognizable.

The question of whether or not to show this footage to MH17 victims' relatives has been playing for years. In 2015 the Public Prosecutor decided not to allow it, mainly due to privacy. The Prosecutor also pointed out that it would be almost impossible to check hours worth of footage from 34 cameras to identify passengers who were on the fatal flight.

According to Evert van Zijtveld, chairman of support group Vliegramp MH17, not all relatives will go to watch the footage. "Not everyone wants to or dares to. The confrontation remains intense", he said to RTL Nieuws. He will go to see if he can find footage of his children and in-laws who died in the crash.

The Joint Investigation Team, made up of the five countries affected by this disaster, is still investigating who is responsible for shooting down MH17. Last year it was decided that the perpetrators will be prosecuted in the Netherlands and under Dutch law. This decision was ratified by the Foreign Affairs Ministers of the JIT countries - the Netherlands, Belgium, Australia, Malaysia and Ukraine - in September.
 
Came across this Veterans Today article (Jan 19, 2018) by Gordan Duff - however, there is more to read than what is quoted and I'll leave it there for further assessment as it seems they, VT, are leading the reader in a certain direction and perhaps some caution is needed due to passed experiences with Duff /VT - and where this is going. There might well be parts that sync with other narratives, and it does help to look at how fast the SU25 denouements were made in therms of its altitude capabilities - echoed by the likes of Bellingcat (who are again back on the 'continued' Syrian chemical delivery narrative and whatever else they are trying to pass off). In this case, though, essentially the article discusses how Google scrubbed the net and changed data regarding the SU25 - including a video example of the SU25 vs. the A10 to depict an altered specification narrative.

Veterans Today, as a wrongly assumed “Russian asset” as asserted in a Google Jigsaw financed report published in the Washington Post, is currently both “banned” and “delisted” on Google, with jamming on the Google Chrome browser of some functions and intercepts on Gmail accounts used by VT personnel.

Google has something to hide, let’s take a look. On July 17, 2014, Malaysian Airlines Flight 17, a Boeing 777-200ER with 238 onboard was redirected over the combat zone near Donbass in Eastern Ukraine by air traffic control in Kiev.

The government there had recently been overthrown by a cabal led by organized crime. A report by a Spanish born air traffic controller citing this bizarre move by the Kiev regime was reported on news now suppressed. He has since disappeared from the planet.

Following MH17 into “enemy territory,” according to Kiev officials, were two SU25 “Frogfoot” attack aircraft. This is the key, and where Google got involved.

Only a day before the attack, the SU25 had a flight ceiling of 60,000 feet and a range of over 600 miles, much more with wing tanks and no bomb load. Its speed, well over 600 mph made it a capable fighter at altitude using its powerful guns and air to air missiles though it was generally tasked for ground attack.

For those easily fooled, the rationale for establishing the “service ceiling” for the SU 25 was based on a loadout with only one pilot oxygen tank. A second tank, however, doubled the “service ceiling” due to greatly increased high altitude range to 46,000 feet through the actual “flight ceiling,” with diminished handling is over 60,000 feet.

Immediately after MH 17 was downed, however, Google Corporation scoured the internet, altering or removing all data on the SU 25. They are now doing it again and the video you see is part of this. This video compares the SU25 to the A 10 “Thunderbolt” which has a ceiling of 52,000 feet.

Why this is key? When MH 17 was downed, and according to German investigations, which have also been scoured from the media, downed by air to air gunfire, not a missile, the two Kiev planes were right there. Kiev says they were not capable of shooting down MH 17 because they can’t fly that high though radar showed them intercepting MH 17...

As for VT and Gordon Duff, we'll have to wait and see I think.

I was especially intrigued by the following snippet which is stated in the context of the AEGIS-system that supposedly saw what happened with MH17:

Radar information from the US AEGIS system only 400 miles away saw the whole thing but the US has withheld all information. This AEGIS system was put online in 2013 after the system was removed from its land based location in New Jersey.

It protected the US capitol from seaborne cruise missiles after such a weapon, according to an American report, did not hit the Pentagon on 9/11.

This system was installed, supported by two huge aerostat balloons, which were later removed as well, but this is another story, another conspiracy theory, one backed by fact, by hard evidence and by hard proof.

The Pentagon was hit by a cruise missile fired from a German built Dolphin submarine specially modified by Germany for the Israeli Navy.

Several close friends of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu face arrest for kickbacks tied to paying for the modification to the sub used for this attack at this time.

Thought it odd, too - and did not add it. The first parts, yeah, the SU 25 stuff was captured here from the beginning, and elaborated on in articles as mentioned. Then there is the Google scrubbing; which sees pretty drastic as there would be plenty of references spread around in print and such, not that Google does not play games.

Had not caught on to the US AEGIS system, and the point about the Pentagon references its past use - obviously as people can observe, a 'frozen fish' and not a plane hit that facility and thus, where did it come from, what was the launch platform? Remember, deniability is always at play, so that means a third party, at that is what Duff is pointing at, osit. The tie with Netanyahu's modifications to their Sub mentioned is also interesting, yet would need more study and it could be a rabbit hole of its own - and his last leaning (Ukraine) seems off kilter on first inspection (also a reason for not running out the full text).

The biggest part is the Russian radar that no one seems to want to acknowledge.

Bellingcat, although focused on the 'surprise' Syrian Chemical attacks now, and in being lock-step with the rest, wrote last on MH17 January 5th with the usual Buk stance by Aric Toler; same old ground as always - throwing things at the feet of Russian media like Sputnik and RT as examples.

A group of MH17 victims' relatives won a lawsuit in a United States court which entitles them to hundreds of millions of dollars in damages, television program Zembla reports (in Dutch) based on court documents. A total of 25 surviving relatives, including 10 Dutch, took part in this lawsuit filed against Igor Girkin*, a leader among pro-Russian separatists in Ukraine. The American court ruled that each surviving relative in the lawsuit is entitled to 20 million dollars in compensation.

Girkin was not present at the lawsuit, and he could not be found at his home address in Moscow, according to Zembla. The chance of the relatives getting the damages they are entitled to is therefore very small.

"It was never about the amount of money", Floyd Wisner, the American lawyer who represented the family members in this lawsuit, said to Zembla. "The large amount of money was really only to make an impression, bring this to the world stage. That's the important thing. The aim was never really just to collect this kind of money from [Girkin], it's to try to get justice for these families. To shed some light on this terrible tragedy they've gone through. And to get the world to focus on it, to hold the people responsible like Mr. Girkin."

The Dutch who formed part of this lawsuit are pleased with the verdict. "We assume that it can not be collected. You can't pick a bald chicken. This is also more symbolic. Now they're still gettting away with it. If there is something we can think of to make the lives of those involved miserable, we will not ignore it", Silene Fredriksz, mother of MH17 victim Bryce Fredriksz, said to the program.

"This is one of the ways to keep the issue at the top of the agenda. And that is completely legitimate", Piet Ploeg, chairman of foundation Vliegramp MH17, said to Zembla. "The opinions on this case are rather divided. The question is whether this ruling will have any effect. As Foundation, we take no position on court cases. It is the choice of the relatives which ones they will join. Because it is also very important to keep attention on what happened. And it is important to keep the topic on the map."

National Geographic show Air Crash Investigation will broadcast a documentary on the flight MH17 disaster on March 4th.

For the documentary, the makers of the show spoke with relatives of victims, and employees of the Dutch Safety Board, which handled part of the investigation into the crash, according to broadcaster NOS (in Dutch). The episode will show reconstructions of the flight and the investigation. The question of who is responsible for downing the Malaysia Airlines flight, will not be discussed.

Foundation Vliegramp MH17 which represents family members of the victims, and representatives of the Dutch Safety Board and Public Prosecution Service already watched the episode. "We knew that the episode was made and we asked for a preview", Piet Ploeg of Vliegramp MH17 said to NOS. "We wanted to know if everything in the program was correct and how big the impact would be for the next of kin." A few scenes were changed at the relatives' request. Such as a scene showing the public transit card of one of the victims. The victim's name and photo was clearly visible.

So, had a look at how Bellingcat is seeing the world through their lens these days with the usual; chlorine gas attacks on the people by the bad Syria regime etc. However, and speaking of investigative techniques used to help support the 'official' MH17 investigation, Mr. Higgins, of the infamous Belingcat team of propagandists researchers, seemed to have organized, and are advertising, a 5 day 'fact' "series of workshops in Europe in 2018 whereby participants can learn the {secret} tools and methodologies used by Bellingcat in their investigations." Amsterdam (the origin city of flight MH17), is one of the venues for the workshops (June 25th – 29th), with Berlin and London scheduled. Nice that they though to bring home to the people of the Netherlands their body of lies information. How considerate.

The workshop will be split into two main sections. The first three days will be dedicated to teaching participants a range of open source investigation skills, with case studies and practical examples focused on topics including conflict, crime, corruption, and fake news. The first two days will focus on investigations of videos and photographic content, and the third day will focus on social media investigation with Henk Van Ess.

Belingcat will use evidence of their own fake reporting as examples of how it should be done - leading by example they might say. Videos and photographic content might be provided by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights themselves (or the one guy anyway) and the folks at the White Helmets. However, some MH17 material sources have proprietary or classified restrictions (US), so divulging real source information will be limited.

The last two days allow participant to apply those skills to topics of their choice, with assistance from the workshop leaders and Bellingcat team members. On the final day, the progress of these projects will be presented to the group and future steps in the investigation will be discussed. Where possible and desirable for the participants, Bellingcat will provide additional help with those investigations after the workshop is concluded.

The intention of the workshop is to teach participants the core skills required for open source investigation, giving them sufficient time with practical examples to develop solid investigative experience, and teach a range of tools and methodologies that can be applied to their own work.

Each workshop is £1800 (including VAT) per person, and this covers the cost of the 5 day workshop. It does not cover participants accommodation or travel costs.

It sounds like there is good chance for those participants who do 'well' in the course (after their presentations) to get recruited "after the workshop is conclude" by Belingcat's senior team members; if they have the right-stuff. The 'practical' examples should be very interesting. The scuttlebutt is that appearances might be made by CNN executives (on how to present doggie narratives), representatives of the CIA or one of their appointed contractors on the subject of satellite photographic manipulation evaluation, and the FBI senor leadership on the subject of modifying or withholding obtaining witness testimony. This will help in providing collusion overall expertise while a special appearance by Victoria Nuland has been rumored to rally the atmosphere - cookies to be handed out. Course materials also include the topic of masquerading GIGO information techniques.

Without going through the whole article here (what's the point), the author makes strides to identify Bellingcat with the following glowing statement for their readers (boldly stated as it is):


When future historians come to explore the fake news phenomenon of the early twenty-first century, Russia’s response to the MH17 tragedy will surely serve as a key case study. The many competing MH17 narratives promoted by the Kremlin contain all the requisite elements for a comprehensive examination of contemporary disinformation tactics, including everything from photoshopped satellite images and phony eyewitness accounts to distracting counter-accusations and social media trolling tactics.

Aric Toler of the online investigative group Bellingcat has recently produced what is likely to become the definitive guide to the Kremlin’s MH17 deceptions. Published in January 2018, his detailed report offers a chronological survey of the numerous explanations put forward by Russian sources since the downing of flight MH17.

Toler’s survey is a master class in open source analysis. His report deals with each Kremlin theory systematically, outlining the many successive Russian claims before examining their flaws. Some are borderline Kafkaesque in their absurdity, such as the tale of the mysterious Spanish air traffic controller named Carlos who was said to have been working with Ukrainian aviation authorities at the time of the MH17 attack. The Russian media initially portrayed Carlos as a key witness who could provide conclusive evidence of Ukraine’s guilt. He featured prominently in a number of Kremlin narratives before disappearing once it became clear that he did not exist.

How nice, substitute Kremlin for Bellingcat and the author might be spot on, yet instead we have "the definitive guide" that closes the case assigned to Toler et al., the super Kremlin did it sleuths. :umm:

Of course, the question should be asked, since when to 'official' investigators rely on these online super sleuths in such a "definitive" way that they are cited?

Hopefully, when Bellingcat brings their traveling road show of lies to the Netherlands they will get a frosty reception. The Kremlin, however, might probably offer up a nice alternate venue for them in say, Siberia. If taken up, some suffering might be alleviated and a proper investigation finally could commence.

This 'mantra' as I'm want to call it after numerous experiences, is a standard issue on almost every article on the nltimes website about anything MH17 related since the official reports favored this conclusion.

One shouldn't read too much into it when it reappears on this one as well, I think.

Stichting Vliegramp MH17 (MH17 Disaster Foundation) has demanded apologies from the controversial parliamentarian.

We're all awaiting the next step in the criminal investigation process: the naming of those 'who did it', the actual charges and their exact wording, and maybe the start of some form of judicial procedures.

Therefore, I would characterize the current lull in the international coverage like the calm before the storm...

But I could be wrong of course. ;)

Pilot blamed by Russia for MH17 disaster dies

Vladyslav Voloshyn, an Ukrainian military pilot blamed by Russia for shooting down flight MH17, has died. He was killed by gunshots, Ukrainian media report, quoting the local police.

According to Ukrainian media outlet NikVesti, the 29-year-old pilot committed suicide in his apartment in Mykolaiv while his family was at home. They heard a gunshot and called the emergency services. Voloshyn was rushed to hospital, but died of his injuries. Rumors of assassination since the report was published alternately accuse both Russia and Ukraine of pulling the trigger.

Voloshyn was a pilot of a SU-25 low-flying ground attack jet for the Ukrainian military at the time of the MH17 disaster. A colleague of his, Evgeni Agapov, told Russia that Voloshyn accidentally shot down the Malaysia Airlines flight, because he confused the aircraft with another plane, according to the Telegraaf (in Dutch). Russia first reported this anonymously, but later revealed Agapov's identity.

In a BBC documentary, Voloshyn denied any involvement in the downing of MH17. He said that the accusations are unfounded and that he is the victim of a Russian smear campaign."A former military comrade of mine, a mechanical engineer, issued false statements. We did not even fly that day. He said that we performed three flights, but that was six days later."

After investigation, the Dutch Safety Board concluded that flight MH17 was shot down by a Russian BUK missile system. The Joint Investigation Team later determined that the missile system was driven from Russia to Ukraine shortly before the disaster on 17 July 2014, fired from a field that was controlled by pro-Russian separatists, and then taken back to Russia.

Ukrainian media describe Voloshyn as a war hero. According to NikVesti, he flew 33 combat missions against Russian backed separatists in eastern Ukraine with his Su-25. He resigned from the Ukrainian military for family reasons when one of his children fell ill. He was recently put in charge of the Maykolaiv airport.

Family members of Voloshyn told NikVesti that he was depressed for some time and "expressed alarming intentions". The Ukrainian police launched an investigation into his death.
