Translation
I would like to speak about the Moscow event.
It is officially claimed that the driver fell asleep at the wheel, but on the record the event looks like a deliberate action. Perhaps this is the case, but keep in mind the overall situation with cabs in the city. The staff of drivers in a taxi is completed with natives of Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, a little less than Turkmenistan) by 40-50 percent. The owners of taxi parks operate them mercilessly, people work for 16-20 hours. Moreover, there is practically no check when hiring. Drivers do not know the city, use navigators, and these gadgets do not always work correctly. There are many cases when the driver is almost impossible to explain due to lack of knowledge of the language. There are cases when people never received driver's licenses were employed. I spend a lot of time every day on the Moscow roads and responsibly I can tell that what these Asians do on the roads, it's just awful. And without any terrorism.
In the second video, the driver who made the impact says that he received a driver's license 5 years ago, practically driven only 2 years and in Moscow only one month. Just before the incident was driving for 20 hours, before it slept 2-3 hours! What can you expect from this?! The event is more natural than accidental. And if we can talk about terrorism here, then from the leadership of transport organizations and regulatory authorities. IMHO

Driver who ran into crowd in downtown Moscow says he spent 20 hours behind wheel

The taxi driver, whose car rammed a group of pedestrians in central Moscow late on Saturday, told the police he had spent 20 hours behind the wheel without having a rest.

On a video of the suspect’s questioning, released by the Moscow police department’s official website, the driver is asked how many hours he had spent behind the wheel. "To be frank, 20 hours," he replied, adding that he only had a pause of two or three hours after finishing his previous 20-hour shift.

The driver said he had mistaken the gas pedal for brakes when he wanted to let a pedestrian cross the road.

When asked why he tried to ran away after the accident, the suspect said he was scared.

"I was afraid. There were so many people there. I thought they were going to kill me," he said.

The driver said there was only about a hundred meters left to his destination. "I wanted to go home and get some sleep," said the taxi driver, who had been working in Moscow for about a month.

A taxi cab drove onto the pavement and ploughed into a crowd of pedestrians on central Moscow’s Ilyinka street. Eight people were injured as a result, and five of them were hospitalized: two female citizens of Mexico, one Ukrainian woman and two Russians.

The driver was detained and taken to a police station. A criminal case was launched.

1 killed, several injured as car hits people in Sochi, Russia, driver presumably fell asleep

A car crashed into pedestrians in the tourist village of Dagomys in Sochi on the Russian Black Sea coast, killing one person and injuring several others on Wednesday. The driver presumably fell asleep behind the wheel.

A car was driven onto the sidewalk near a pedestrian crossing and ran into six people, a source told Interfax. “One person had died on site, while the others were hospitalized, including two people put in intensive care,” he said.

The police have confirmed the incident, saying that a local 63-year-old man was killed, while three other victims were hospitalized. The driver was a local man, who presumably fell asleep behind the wheel and drove into incoming traffic and ran the people over, they added.

The village of Dagomys is a district of Sochi, located 12 kilometers from the city center. On Saturday, Sochi will host Russia’s quarterfinal match against Croatia in the FIFA World Cup.

Ok, but what about the sharp right-hand turn, followed by a left-hand turn, taking him into the crowd of people??

Also, there's no pedestrian passing anywhere near his car when it does that maneuver.

That looks like it could be another 'deliberate' car-ramming.

Just wanted to make note of this for posterity and encourage people to take care. Despite the Russian govt. claiming that the Moscow event yesterday was an accident, it was clearly deliberate. Obviously the other two were. Seems like there's something "in the air". So keep all eyes open!

In northern Germany one man attacked in a bus several passengers and injuring several of them. The number of injured people is not really determined yet, it is reported that 6, 9 people to 14 people got injured. The passengers could overcome the attacker.

Following the incident in the German city of Lubeck, the scene around the bus stop has been cordoned off. Trains to the city district of Kucknitz have been disrupted due to the police operation currently underway.

According to the Bild newspaper, 12 people have been slightly injured and two other passengers seriously wounds as a result of an attack on a public bus.

The police have confirmed that there were no fatalities and that the attacker was detained and is currently in custody.
The interior minister of the German state of Schleswig-Holstein stated that the police did not assume that there was a terrorist motive behind the attack. The Lubecker Nachrichten portal reported that the assailant is a 34-year-old man who came from Iran but now is a German national who has lived in Lubeck for years.

The scene around the bus stop has been cordoned off, with a police operation underway.

Lubecker Nachrichten, citing eyewitness reports, said that the fully packed bus was moving in the direction of Travemunde when one of the passengers suddenly took a knife out of his backpack and started to attack people. The driver stopped the bus immediately and opened the doors so that people could flee. At the time, a police vehicle was passing nearby and the incident caught the officers' attention.

"The passengers were jumping out of the bus shouting, it was awful, and then the injured were taken away, the attacker had a kitchen knife," an eyewitness said, as quoted by Lubecker Nachrichten.

International manhunt launched for Brit who shot fellow national in the head in Amsterdam
Edited time: 21 Jul, 2018 08:48
An international manhunt for a suspected British hitman believed to have shot a fellow Briton in the head outside a café in Amsterdam, Netherlands, has kicked off.

The alleged hitman is suspected of shooting a 55-year-old man, from Sale, Greater Manchester, before fleeing on a bike taxi in the Dutch capital on May 19. The victim remains in hospital in a stable condition. Dutch Police believe he was targeted due to a gang feud.
The witness was seen heading towards the crime scene in Amsterdam’s Stromarkt before pulling out a gun and firing. He then took the bike taxi towards Dam, the city’s main square.

The UK's National Crime Agency (NCA) is now collaborating with Dutch authorities after they launched a large search for the suspect but failed to trace him down.

Jayne Lloyd, NCA North West branch commander, said: "The attack took place in a public area. This man is clearly very dangerous which is why we need to identify him quickly and make sure he cannot harm anyone else.

"Someone knows who this is and anyone with information about this man or his whereabouts should contact the NCA on 0370 496 7622 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Please do not approach this man as he is dangerous and call 999 in an emergency."

Three Russians With Press Cards Reportedly Killed In Central African Republic
(updated 19:59 31.07.2018)

The bodies of Russian citizens with press cards have been found on a road 23 kilometers (14 miles) from the central town of Sibut, AFP news agency reported citing sources close to the investigation.

According to the AFP news agency's source, the Russians "were killed by unidentified armed men." The bodies have been transferred to the UN base in Sibut, as AFP reported, citing its sources.

Later in the day, the UN Mission in the Central African Republic confirmed in a statement that three bodies had been found in a bullet-ridden car. The organization, however, yet to reveal the identity of those found.

Several media sources speculated that two of the three victims were Izvestia employees. However, the media outlet denied that any of its staff members have been on the territory of the republic.

The Central African Republic is one of the poorest and most unstable countries in the world, with militia groups controlling most of its territory.

If confirmed, the incident would be the first murder of Russian citizens in the Central African Republic, where the Russian presence has been increasing over the last several months.

The Russian Foreign Ministry is now probing to determine if those killed in the CAR were Russian citizens.

"According to preliminary information from local authorities, the bodies of three people, presumably Russians, have been found in the CAR. The Russian Embassy is in contact with the country’s law enforcement agencies to clarify issues of the victims' citizenship," Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told Sputnik.

Russian diplomats have traveled to identify those killed in the Central African Republic, who may be Russian nationals, Russian Foreign Ministry's spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told Sputnik on Tuesday.

"Russian diplomats have departed to conduct the identification of the victims," Zakharova said.

Earlier, in March, five Russian military servicemen, 170 civilian instructors, as well as a batch of small arms and ammunition were sent by Russia to the Central African Republic (CAR) at the request of President Faustin-Archange Touadera. This was done on a no-cost basis, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.

For about three years, clashes between Christian and Muslim groups have been ongoing in the CAR.

At the same time, the situation was exacerbated following the overthrow of President François Bozizé and the arrival of the self-proclaimed head of state, Michel Djotodia

Editor-in-Chief of Ekho Moskvy (Echo of Moscow) radio station Venediktov confirmed he knew about Dzhemal’s plans to visit Africa

MOSCOW, July 31. /TASS/. Russian journalist Orkhan Dzhemal has been killed in the Central African Republic (CAR), Editor-in-Chief of Ekho Moskvy (Echo of Moscow) radio station Alexei Venediktov told TASS on Tuesday.

Dzhemal stayed in the Central African Republic together with cameraman Kirill Radchenko and producer Alexander Rastorguyev, he said.

"Orkhan Dzhemal has been killed in the CAR," Venediktov told TASS.
"His relatives told me about that," he added.

Venediktov said he knew about Dzhemal’s plans to visit Africa: "We knew that he was going to visit the CAR and he had been engaged in filming documentaries lately and he was planning to shoot a film there but we did not know about the timeframe. He was part of a small group," Venediktov said.

Active shooter reported at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio
Emergency services have been called to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, amid reports of an active shooter.

“At approximately 12:40 p.m. today, base emergency responders, including security forces and fire department, responded to a reported incident in building 830, the Wright-Patt Hospital,” base officials tweeted. “There are no additional details at this time.”

According to emergency dispatch traffic, someone may be barricaded inside the base’s hospital, reported the Dayton Daily News.
Base officials have ordered all personnel inside to shelter in place until the incident is investigated. The FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives are on the scene, and local law enforcement has been reported leaving the base as federal agents take over management of the scene.

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base has over 27,000 employees and sits a few miles east of Dayton, Ohio. The base was scheduled to hold quarterly base-wide exercises from July 30 to August 3.

In 1995, negotiations to end the Bosnian War were held at the base, resulting in the Dayton Agreement that ended the three-year conflict.

The head of a Syrian research facility that Western countries say was part of a chemical weapons programme was killed when his car was blown up, the pro-Syrian government newspaper al-Watan said on Sunday.

Aziz Asber was the director of the Syrian Scientific Research Centre in Masyaf, near the city of Hama, which Western governments say was a covert Syrian government installation.

“(Asber) died after an explosion targeted his car in the Hama countryside,” al-Watan said in an online report.

The explosion occurred on Saturday night, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitoring group said. Who or what caused it is not known.

The Masyaf facility has previously been hit by what the Syrian government said were Israeli strikes in July and last year in September.

In April, missile strikes by the United States, Britain and France destroyed a Syrian Scientific Research Centre facility in Damascus, in response to a suspected poison gas attack.

The Syrian government, backed by Russia, has denied using – or possessing – chemical weapons.

An Israeli government official declined to comment on reports of Asber’s death when asked by Reuters.

Israeli Construction Minister Yoav Gallant, a member of Netanyahu’s security cabinet, speaking to Israel’s Ynet TV said: “There is a war raging in Syria. A lot of sides are involved. There are a lot of interests … I read about him in the newspaper. He does not sound like a positive guy, to me.”

A Tunisian detained in Germany on suspicion of planning a terror attack produced ricin and tested the lethal toxin on a hamster, prosecutors said on Friday.

The 29-year-old man, who was arrested in June, is suspected of building a “biological weapon” with ricin, a poison found in castor beans, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

The man, named only as Sief Allah H. in line with German legal practice, bought the hamster with his wife at a pet shop in the western city of Cologne, it said, without revealing the rodent’s fate.

Investigators seized 3,150 grains of ricin – all ordered via the Internet – during a search of the suspect’s home in Cologne in June, along with 84.3 mg of prepared ricin.

Prosecutors have said they believe the suspect had considered building an explosive device, but no target or timetable had been set.

The suspect and his wife, identified only as Yasmin, had wanted to move to Islamic State-controlled areas of Syria, the prosecutor’s office said. She is accused of helping her husband to prepare an attack.

Sief Allah H. twice tried to enter Syria via Turkey in 2017 but both attempts failed, prosecutors said, adding that he then set up contact with Islamic State agents who instructed him to carry out an attack against “infidels”.

In May 2018 he received instructions from individuals abroad via an online messaging service on how to prepare a bomb. He then ordered 250 metal balls from an online supplier, wanting to use them as shrapnel in a bomb.

Prosecutors also accuse Sief Allah H. of seeking to become a member of the Islamic State and of swearing allegiance to its leaders.

This happened today in Fredericton, NB. A city I once lived in roughly 5 years ago.

How the Fredericton shooting unfolded | CBC News

"At 7:10 a.m. AT Friday, officers Robb Costello and Sara Burns of the Fredericton Police Force responded to reports of shots fired outside a local apartment building.

Upon arrival, they found two people on the ground. When Costello and Burns approached the victims, they were fatally shot.

Police locked down the area and set up a perimeter. At some point, police and the suspect exchanged gunfire.

Police officers Sara Burns, 43, and Robert Costello, 45, were killed in the north-side shooting in Fredericton on Friday morning.

Around 9:30 a.m, about two hours after the initial call, police entered an apartment and arrested a 48-year-old suspect, who was taken to hospital and is being treated for serious injuries.
"

Stray shots whizzed into neighboring homes. A family reportedly crouched in wait as they were shaken by the proximity of one of the stray bullets to their child's bed.
