"Actually the laws of the Spanish Historical Heritage refers to when there is some restoration should be left some evidence that was restored.
This figure was built in 1992 restoring the occasion of the temporary exhibition "The Ages of Man". The original vegetation was continued and included the sculptures of an astronaut, a dragon with an ice cream cone, a lynx and a stork.
The architect Jerónimo García de Quiñones led the restoration, following the idea of the French structural engineer Baltasar Devreton.
The stonecutter Miguel Romero, and equipment designed for the work, chose to maintain the established decorative aesthetics, in addition to add contemporary figures.
Other examples
In the Cathedral of St. Antolín, located in the Spanish city of Palencia, they are also anachronistic details (out of time). Especially noted the gargoyle photographer.
A mobile phone, sculpted in stone, can be seen in the Cathedral of Calahorra, in La Rioja. Below him is engraved the date of restoration. In this way it knows the year in which it was placed, avoiding chronological confusion, as happened to the astronaut Salamanca."
