The Russian Ambassador was shot several times by an assasin at a photograph exbition in Ankara. This incident comes at a time when Turkey, Russia and Iran are negotiating about terrorism. The assasin is said to have dressed in suit and tie. The assasin has allegedly shouted something about Haleppo.

He apparently had a police ID and was granted access without problem.

This is quite shocking, but eerily not unexpected.
After the liberation of Aleppo, there was a lot of talk about Syria and Turkey eventually running into each other in the north of Syria and entering a conflict. Something that would have ensure the continuation of the chaos in Syria and would essentially make the Turkey a sequel to Daesh.
This is something I know Rusia was actively working to avoid, just yesterday I read an article in which the kremlin had officially posted on their website details of the conversations between Putin and Erdogan regarding the situation in Syria. It's not difficult to tell who would benefit from Russia and Turkey breaking diplomatic ties once again. Last time they did this was exactly the same template, a Turkish national shooting down a Russian official. Sure this time it could be shown as some crazy gunman acting alone, but the message sent is still implied "Russians aren't safe in Turkey".
I guess we can assume that despite their horrible failure in their attempted coup last summer, they're still trying to hold on desperately to whatever influence they may have in the region. They really hated the victory in Aleppo.

Ditto, I felt very angry and sad when listening to this. I'm currently listening to the live analysis on RT, which I think has been covering a lot of great information. As it was said on the show by a journalist: an attack like this to one ambassador is a message to all the nation. :( Seems like as said by others, it may be the beginning of more events to develop in the next 40 days.
