Austin Texas Bombings

Searched forum, didn't see anything about this.

Austin Texas is a very liberal city in a very conservative State. It's long been famous for it's culture of freedom and acceptance, with a relaxed and friendly vibe.

Wikipedia says

"Keep Austin Weird" has been a local motto for years, featured on bumper stickers and T-shirts. This motto has not only been used in promoting Austin's eccentricity and diversity, but is also meant to bolster support of local independent businesses. According to the 2010 book, Weird City, the phrase was begun by a local Austin Community College librarian, Red Wassenich, and his wife, Karen Pavelka, who were concerned about Austin's "rapid descent into commercialism and overdevelopment." The slogan has been interpreted many ways since its inception, but remains an important symbol for many Austinites who wish to voice concerns over rapid growth and irresponsible development. Austin has a long history of vocal citizen resistance to development projects perceived to degrade the environment, or to threaten the natural and cultural landscapes.

A recent series of bombings via packages left seemingly at random around the city had authorities advising everyone to be suspicious of everyone and everything (my words, they weren't that explicit, but that seemed to me to be the real message).

Austin police have received more than 1,200 suspicious package calls since bombings started

At that point, the words "Deep State" start rolling around in my head.

Well, now "the" bomber blew himself up seconds before local police got their hands on him.

Oh, how convenient (for preventing him from talking to the "wrong" people)!

Framing this guy, planting a bomb on his car, then setting it off via remote control from a "safe and secure location" would be trivially easy for the Secret Government.

... but that may not even have been necessary. There are plenty of gullible, ponerized and deranged people that just need a “gentle nudge” to go off the deep end.

Marin agencies join massive Sonoma Raceway emergency response drill

Snip:
Emergency crews from more than 20 agencies worked together through several exercises built on the premise that an active shooter opened fire after a terrorist group bombed the raceway, which in this scenario was serving as an earthquake shelter site.

“Recently, I think the Austin bombing attacks really show what a crazy world we live in and the importance to work together,” said Michael St. John, a Mill Valley fire battalion chief and the hazardous materials team coordinator for Marin County.

“We want to be in training where we’re working with different agencies, because mixing agencies helps us learn how to organize quickly and be more efficient,” she said.

Other agencies involved included the California National Guard’s Homeland Response Force and 95th Civil Support Team, California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, FEMA Urban Assistance Team 7, Sonoma County SWAT, Marin County SWAT, Marin County Fire Department, Oakland Police Department and the California Highway Patrol, among others.

And then on the same day (imagine that) an incident near a military base entrance in California within the neighboring county.

A driver is dead after their car crashed the main gate of Travis Air Force Base. Officials are treating it as a possible attempted attack. The FBI is now leading the investigation.

"The car basically blew up," said witness Kamren Hernandez. " It was nothing anymore."

Hernandez couldn't believe what he witnessed Wednesday night from his family's restaurant just feet from the main gate at Travis Air Force Base -- a black SUV exploding seconds after breaching security gates.

Video posted on Air Force Forum's Facebook page shows military personnel running up to the burning car after it crashed. Firefighters respond and try to put the fire out.

A U.S. official tells ABC News it appears the driver had propane tanks in the vehicle, which they may have ignited deliberately.

"He had something in there explosive," Lamar added. "It sounded like the 4th of July. I've never heard anything like that -- really loud."

The driver was killed. Defense officials tell ABC News the driver was a civilian and not a service member.

"I saw the guy inside, slumped over the passenger seat," Lamar told ABC7 News.

The driver has not been identified. U.S. officials say the FBI is treating the case as an act of possible terrorism.

Henandez' father, Lamar, saw it too. "It kept exploding -- boom boom. Kept on going."

The compound hosts a sizeable fleet of the USAF’s cargo aircraft, including 26 C-5 Galaxies, 27 KC-10 Extenders, and 13 C-17 Globemaster-IIIs. It also accommodates the David Grant Medical Center, a 265-bed Air Force hospital which provides medical treatment to both active and retired military personnel.

I'm still on the first cup of brew this morning and the brain isn't engaged yet but ... wasn't there another incident, a few months ago, of an SUV or something ramming a security gate at another Military base?
I think it occurred around the same time a bridge or interstate road opened up with a wide gap? Jeez, now I'll have to look for that because I know we Posted something on it in another thread?

Federal investigators on Thursday combed through the home of the 23-year-old they say was behind this month’s deadly Texas bombing spree, seeking clues about what motivated his attacks the day after he killed himself in a confrontation with police.

Investigators scour Texas bomber’s home, searching for a motive

Mark Conditt, an unemployed man from the Austin suburb of Pflugerville, confessed to the three-week string of bombings in a 25-minute video found on his cellphone, police said. Conditt blew himself up with one of his own bombs on Wednesday as police closed in on him in his car.

The bombs, which killed two people and wounded five others, primarily targeted Austin, the Texas capital and a fast-growing city of 1 million people. Three were left as parcels outside victims’ homes, one by a sidewalk with a trip-wire mechanism attached and two shipped as FedEx parcels, which helped investigators unmask the bomber’s identity.

The attacks drew national attention when the second and third bombs went off while the city was hosting its annual South by Southwest music, movies and tech festival, which draws about half a million people.

The video showed a troubled young man, according to Austin Police Chief Brian Manley, but did not outline a clear motive for the attacks that began March 2.

The police department was unlikely to make the video public while the investigation continued, said spokeswoman Destiny Wilson.

Investigators sought further clues from the home Conditt moved into last year and shared with two roommates in Pflugerville, which is within walking distance of his family’s house. Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are helping Austin police.

Conditt and his three siblings had been home-schooled through high school, his mother wrote on Facebook. He attended classes at Austin Community College between 2010 and 2012, but did not graduate.

“Raised by both parents in a Christian home, Conditt reportedly walked away from his faith several years ago,” Texas Home School Association President Tim Lambert said in a statement late on Wednesday. “Unfortunately, no form of education, public or private, can ensure a tragedy like this will never happen.”

The Austin Stone Community Church, responding to reports that Conditt had attended, said in a statement late on Wednesday that it had no records of him being actively engaged with the church.

Five of Conditt’s bombs exploded, one was recovered before it went off, and the seventh Conditt detonated as officers rushed his vehicle.

Ah, we see here the danger of letting parents home school their children.

Now they say "the bomber" was a conservative, and a "Christian survivalist."

Maybe I'm being paranoid (and I'm not a Christian, or a survivalist, or a conservative), but seems to me many signs of a psychological warfare operation here.
