World seems to have entered a phase of "Protests" whether it is western inspired "color" revolution or not. Bangladesh looks like the latest.

Bangladesh Prime minister Sheik Hasina ( in power for 15 years) resigned and flee to India at the last minute, got interim stay in India. Suspecting her arrival to UK, UK closed her option to enter. USA revoked her visa. Bangladesh requested India to arrest her and sending back and it may not happen.

The protests are natural reaction to 30% reservations in the government jobs to descendants of 1971 Independence movement. It is obvious that helps her party and students felt helpless. "viral" killing of protesting students and Harsh measures piled up ( hundreds dead 300 to 500 unofficial number ) to the point that she has no option except to flee.
The 2024 Bangladesh quota reform movement was an anti-government[e] and pro-democracy[f] protest in Bangladesh, spearheaded primarily by university students. Initially focused on restructuring discriminatory traditional and quota-based systems for government job recruitment, the movement expanded against what many perceive as an authoritarian government when hundreds of protestors and civilians, most of whom were students, were killed.[g] The majority of the fatalities were caused by gunshots fired by the police and other government forces, using lethal and deadly weapons,[93] against unarmed protestors and non-protesting civilians, including children and pedestrians.[h]

The protest began in June 2024, in response to the Supreme Court of Bangladesh reinstating a 30% quota for descendants of freedom fighters, reversing the government decision made in response to the 2018 Bangladesh quota reform movement. Students began to feel like they have a limited opportunity based on merit. The protest, which initially began as a response to the reestablished quota system for government jobs, quickly spread throughout the entire country because of the government's violent response, as well as growing public dissatisfaction against an oppressive government. The situation was further complicated by many other ongoing issues, like the government's inability to manage a prolonged economic downturn, reports of rampant corruption and human rights violations, and the absence of democratic channels for initiating changes

In countries where there are limited opportunities for common man, govt. jobs are lucrative option. These reservations are the "carrot" used by political parties at the expense of the rest and inevitably creates intense resentment and can go out of control rather easily. Who joins the "party" and how they take advantage of it, is different story.

During our growing up years, many Indian student also protested against the reservations as it effected our survivor options to negligible. There were self immolations that went "viral" in the late 80's , changed governments and realigned the politics to the current day left , right paradigm.

In this type of situation, rumor's of western inspired "color revolution" is inevitable. Whether it is real or fake, we will only know in time.
