Bitter Almonds

This just came to my attention - the FDA banned bitter almond trees! As did Britain and the EU. Since we have 15 of these trees bearing fruit on our farm overseas, I was quite surprised to read the following article (it may be old news for some) but since we enjoy eating these almonds, both green and dry, I'm quite surprised that there is a lot of talk going around the net that they are poisonous! It also supports what Edgar Cayce said in his readings, that if you eat 5 almonds a day, you'll never develop cancer. Don't know if he specified bitter almonds....but I'm sure he didn't mean pasteurized almonds!

Vitamin B17, Raw Bitter Almonds, and Apricot Seeds

In 2007, bitter almonds (not regular almonds) were becoming popular with alternative medicine due to their vitamin B-17 content. Health food stores stopped selling B-17 in the form of apricot seeds in 2002, due to armed raids. The F.D.A. openly banned apricot seeds, and the extract, because it was touted as a cure for cancer; and curing is not allowed in America. The British Government followed suit, and did the very same things during 2002. Innocent people in both countries were arrested and charged for merely selling apricot seeds, a carrier of B-17 (laetrile).

Bitter almonds were later discovered as the highest source of this vitamin. Vitamin B-17 was still a somewhat newly discovered vitamin, and it is rarely found in nature. In fact, there are organizations affiliated with orthodox medicine which still will not officially recognize vitamin B-17 as a vitamin. The reason for the exploding popularity of vitamin B17, and thereby bitter almonds, was due to the fact that vitamin B-17 has dramatic and miraculous cancer killing properties. While alternative medicine has had effective and non-toxic cancer cures since the 1930’s, the new vitamin really looked like a magic bullet. There were reports everywhere of cancers being killed merely from patients eating bitter almonds daily. Soon there would be almond extract capsules, so that these same patients would need only to take one cheap, non-toxic pill per day. It did not bode well for the pharmaceutical industry. Hundreds of billions of dollars were about to be lost.

In September of 2007, the F.D.A. claimed that raw almonds had been linked to two salmonella outbreaks in five years, and that all almonds needed to be pasteurized, because they were suddenly a danger to the nation’s health. These salmonella outbreaks were not due to any organic almonds, which reminds us of the many meat recalls. Salmonella and e-coli are present in our foods only because of grossly unhygienic factory conditions; not because any natural foods are inherently covered with bacteria. For the organic bitter almonds, the required pasteurization would bring only one significant change in them. It would neutralize the vitamin B17. Pristine almonds are the only easily accessible source of vitamin B17. They are illegal now by F.D.A. decree. The highest source of B17, the bitter almond tree, was banned from the U.S. in 1995.

Never before in history had any nation practiced the absurdity of pasteurizing dry (often salted) nuts. Americans may not use raw almonds for food anymore, and much more importantly, Americans are outlawed from using bitter almonds (vitamin B17) to cure cancer. Judging from the F.D.A.’s bizarre aggression towards almonds that contain intact vitamin B17, and apricot seeds, it is easy to conclude just how powerful and effective vitamin B-17 is for curing cancer, at least for those of us who are knowledgeable about the F.D.A.’s history.

Despite floods of phone calls and letters of disapproval to the U.S.D.A. and the F.D.A., almonds sold in the U.S. must now be pasteurized. These same agencies have notified food producers that they may freely and dishonestly label their pasteurized almonds as ‘raw’. Therefore, almonds in the United States that are labeled as ‘raw’, are actually deceptively labeled, and we recommend boycotting the companies that participate in this fraud.

Most almonds are pasteurized with Propylene oxide. Propylene oxide is a known carcinogen, and it is on California’s Proposition 65 list of chemicals that are known to cause both cancer and reproductive harm. This means that the majority of almonds sold in the U.S. are not only nutritionally neutralized, but contain dangerous chemical toxins as well. Remember that before the F.D.A. decided almonds must be tainted, almonds were so healthful that they could quickly cure cancer without side effects in most test subjects. Alternative medicine’s magic bullet just had to go!

Whole Foods only sells almonds which have been pasteurized with steam, which is an improvement over poisonous pasteurization methods; but it still degrades the nutritional value of almonds, and of course, eliminates at least some of the anti-cancer vitamin B17. There is usually no way to know which method has been used for pasteurization, because labeling laws are made to benefit the manufacturers, and deceive the consumers.

Wait A Minute! Aren’t Bitter Almonds Poisonous?

According to the modern F.D.A., bitter almonds are poisonous, but somehow bitter almonds became a serious health danger just after it was also discovered that they contain the cancer destroying vitamin B17. Bitter almonds had been eaten by humanity unimpaired during the previous 9,000 years of history.

People who warn us about bitter almonds typically state that they contain prussic acid (a chemical precursor to cyanide compounds), and hydrocyanic acid (also in the cyanide family). Similar compounds exist in benign organic forms in most of our healthiest foods, so while it is true that bitter almonds contain these compounds (like other healthy foods), is it also equally true that our science does not understand how these organic forms operate inside the body. The danger of bitter almonds is generally assumed based on the discovery of these compounds, and not on empirical evidence of people actually dying. Real science does not present assumptions as facts.

We cannot find a single verifiable and credible case of death by almonds. The idea sounds almost ridiculous. We can find stories of deaths from almond consumption in medical journals, blogs, and pro-pharma web sites, but it is impossible to trace any of those reports to real deceased people. They do not exist, and this speaks volumes about the tactics of our adversaries. In the handful of cases in which bitter almonds or other sources for laetrile were cited as the cause of death, the victims did not show the classic symptoms of cyanide poisoning. In most cases, the victims were taking chemotherapy too, and the symptoms more closely matched that of death by chemo. The most emphasized death was that of Chad Green, who supposedly died of his alternative treatments, but we cannot uncover any in-depth details of his death. That is probably intentional. [/quote]

Drop the Almonds, Now!!!!!!

Vitamin B17, Raw Bitter Almonds, and Apricot Seeds

Lilou, tell your family - to plant MORE TREE'S!!!

Almonds are not poisonous. They are a highly prized commodity!

All the hype might be due to the fact, farmer's are losing truck loads of them, by organized crime and the product can't be replaced until next growing and harvesting season. Just recently, a few weeks ago, another truck load of Almonds was hijacked in California.

Authorities say sophisticated criminal organizations are stealing more of California's high-valued nut crops than ever before
http://www.usnews.com/news/business/articles/2016-04-14/apnewsbreak-thieves-targeting-california-almonds-walnuts

April 14, 2016 - Sophisticated thieves stole six truckloads from Caro Nut last year at a loss of $1.2 million to the firm. The scheme has cost the California nut industry nearly $7.6 million dollars in the last four years. In some cases, the thieves with international ties use fake shipping papers to assume the identity of legitimate firms to steal truckloads worth between $150,000 and $500,000 each.

The sophisticated organizations in many cases use high-tech tactics, hacking into trucking companies to steal their identities. Armed with false shipping papers, they pose as legitimate truckers, driving off with loads of nuts such as almonds, walnuts or pistachios valued at $150,000, and some worth $500,000 each.

Days later, when a shipment fails to arrive to its intended destination, the nuts may already be in another state or on a ship destined for Europe or Asia, where they fetch top dollar on the black market, authorities say.

Nut thefts hit an all-time high in California last year — with losses totaling $4.6 million from 31 reported cases, more than the three previous years combined, according to CargoNet, an alliance of cargo shipping firms and law enforcement agencies aimed at preventing losses.

The high value of nuts grabbed the attention of criminal organizations, who are exploiting weaknesses in the cargo shipping industry to reap big profits, said Dan Bryant, supervisory special agent for the violent and organized crimes programs of the FBI Sacramento office.

Mystery driver hauls away $184,000 of almonds, prompting Portland natural foods company lawsuit
http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2015/10/mystery_man_drives_off_with_18.html

October 07, 2015 - One morning this past spring, a mystery truck driver brazenly pulled up his trailer to a Southern Californian almond distributor -- then drove away with 42,000 pounds of almonds.

The almonds never made it to their intended destination -- Bridgetown Natural Foods in Southeast Portland, where the company makes granola bars, cookies and other snacks. And that has prompted Bridgetown to file a $184,000 lawsuit for the value of the almonds.

A good book on the cyanide compound in apricot seeds/laetrile, etc is G Edward Griffins "World Without Cancer; The Story of Vitamin B17".

http://smile.amazon.com/World-Without-Cancer-Story-Vitamin/dp/0912986506/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1463274735&sr=1-1&keywords=world+without+cancer

"Poison" is complete BS!

Thanks for the link to the book, LQB. Funny how amazon says people who bought this book also bought "these raw almonds". Which, of course, being sold here in the USA, have to at least be steam pasteurized, which destroys the B17.

The reason I came upon this story of bitter almond, is a friend of my husband's has cancer and his doctor recommended he try to get a hold of unpasteurized bitter almond. What are the chances he'd call us and we have these trees! He's on the phone now, happy as hell, that we have some of these almonds. I've got them in the freezer...can't find on a search if that degrades the B17 or not. But the placebo affect may go along way too! He was nearly in tears. Love his heart.

Thank you LQB. Amazing information!
I also found on you tube too.

Interesting article Lilou. "Bitter almonds are toxic, so we're gonna pasteurize them with a carcinogen!" Makes sense

I think it's nice that you have these trees overseas, who knows, there might be a high demand for these bitter almonds at some point (which you could then sell wherever it's legal).

I actually ordered bitter almonds once, I don't think these were pasteurized (from Europe). They are called bitter almonds for a reason, as most of them were quite bitter. Not sure if it did anything for me, and then there is the question of the amount of lectins as well and how well the body absorbs B17 from bitter almonds. Í'm glad your friend at least is getting the good ones, and not the ones with a coat of propylene oxide!

That is funny about the amazon "also bought ...", Lilou. The last batch of almonds I bought (from nuts.com) were free of steam pasteurization - which is why (I think) some of them tasted (and smelled) like apricot seeds.

Last I checked, raw apricot seeds are easily ordered here in the US. These are very high in B17 and taste terrible (to me) but some folks like the taste - maybe these are people that really need it.

The Theory
From cancer tutor:
When the laetrile compound molecule comes across a cancer cell, it is broken down into 2 molecules of glucose, 1 molecule of hydrogen cyanide and 1 molecule of benzaldehyde. In the early days of laetrile research it was assumed that the hydrogen cyanide molecule was the major cancer cell killing molecule, but now it is known that it is the benzaldehyde molecule that is by far the major reason the cancer cell is killed.

The reason laetrile therapy takes so long to work, in spite of the marvelous design of the laetrile molecule, is because if the laetrile molecule happens to chemically react with the enzyme of a non-cancerous cell (i.e. rhodanese), before it reacts with the enzyme of a cancerous cell (beta-glucosidase), the rhodanese will break apart the laetrile molecule in such a way that it can no longer kill a cancer cell. Thus you have to take enough laetrile molecules, over a long enough time, that enough laetrile molecules coincidentally (as far as we know) hits all of the cancer cells first.

The second way that laetrile therapy works is because of the laetrile diet. Like the metabolic diet, it is designed to build up the trypsin and chymotrypsin in the body, and let them work on the cancer cells. What they do is break down the enzymes surrounding the cancer cell so the white blood cells can identify and kill the cancer cell. More will be said about the cancer diet below.

One of the good side-effects of laetrile therapy is that more Vitamin B12 is made in the body. With this in mind, make sure you supplement laetrile therapy with Vitamin C. Vitamin C and Vitamin B12 are, by themselves, a treatment for cancer.

I have been eating dried plum seeds for about 10 years now and have seen the benefits of vitamin B17. I wonder if Laura is being kept in the dark by the C's because exposure of this would make enemies of the pharmaceutical industry.
