I was listening to SOTT talk radio and the elections being held today in Brazil were mentioned. I believe it was Joe who asked about the results. So, I've been monitoring the results and they have already counted over 98% of votes. Here is the breakdown for the four most voted presidential candidates, the remaining seven candidates were all below 1%:
Candidate N. of votes % of valid votes
DILMA ROUSSEFF 42.7 million 41.5%
AÉCIO NEVES 34.6 million 33.7%
MARINA SILVA 21.9 million 21.3%
LUCIANA GENRO 1.6 million 1.6%
Fortunately Dilma is ahead. Now we'll have a second round between Dilma and Aécio on October 26th. We should expect more shenanigans against her and the Workers' Party until then, such as the bizarre incident earlier this week where a guy with fake weapons and bombs took a hostage at a hotel in the country's capital while demanding that Dilma was removed from power (Link).
All results from federal and state level can be seen at the official Superior Electoral Court website: Link
It's in Portuguese but it is pretty easy to navigate.
