Canadian Orwellian world: Lockdowns, vaccines passports and more

The Alberta Sovereignty Within a United Canada Act is the official title and is under a lot of fire from the media in Alberta (and further) who claim that, in a nutshell, the Act allows the Alberta gov to ignore federal laws they don't agree with and write their own. They are doing everything they can to program people into turning against the Act and Danielle Smith even though Bill 1, Legislature 30, Session 4 has only just gone through it's first reading on Nov. 29. It's raw and rough and has a long way to go with, no doubt, may amendments throughout its formation.

Nevertheless, on Nov. 30, Justin was asked his thoughts on Danielle Smith's 'Sovereignty Act' in the scrums. Justin is the first interviewee and seems to become quite agitated but also have a look at Mark "just a simple MP" Holland (government House leader) at 26:15 and, continuing after the French, at 29:00. He is not a fan and "feels very strongly that, as a Canadian, everybody should play in their lane." He's referring to the provinces, but because he singled himself out as an individual, he could also just mean everybody.

Yesterday, Dec. 2, CBC interviewed Danielle Smith. She spoke so well and held her own against David Cochrane's rather single minded direction.

As a side note, the media stripping the title down to the 'Sovereignty Act' brought up the historical acts of the same name from 1661 in Denmark and Norway which made those countries absolute monarchies. I haven't heard anything referenced in the media, but it's still early.

She does speak well, however all now speak, whatever the stripes, of emissions levels and carbon tax without ever asking the main question anymore, the question about the validity of C02 as a measure itself. It is now completely accepted - done deal, they can argue with each other about tax per ton in the hopes they can get a 'good' deal, but that is it.

Noticed the other day that Quebec got a pass on C02 emissions per/ton rates on fuel that will be applied to the rest of the provinces. It seemed significant.

As for the Sovereignty Act (which is not really a big deal as a checkpoint for maintaining provincial rights), the very word drives people crazy.

Here is a recent 6 minute video of Premier Smith giving a speech in the Alberta legislature in defense of the 'Alberta Sovereignty within a United Canada Act'. She presents a strong case in a calm and reasonable manner, advocating for the rule of law, and emphasizing that governments work for their people and not the other way round. As cynical as one can be about politicians in general, I thought she did a good job defending her government's position against threats and opposition from Trudeau and his minions in Ottawa.

Worth a watch...

Worth a watch...

Yes, she is a smart cookie and a good excellent speaker, easily cornering the NDP whelps in their games.

"What rule of law is this," she says of the opposition who are continuously working behind the scenes with Ottawa.

Premier Smith continued against the Alberta NDP's Ottawa backdoor, saying that "its Justin and Jagmeet before the constitution."

Here is the Act itself.

SHEILA GUNN REID ON INGRAHAM "THERE WERE 10,000 REQUESTS IN WRITING FOR MEDICALLY ASSISTED SUICIDE."
UKColumn discussed the 'assisted suicide' debacle in Canada in their December 2 video (at 10:26).

They included a statement made by Maria Zakharova (at 17:14):

"Canada legalized physician-assisted suicides in 2016. The number of people who wish to be euthanised has been growing annually. In all probability, Canada will reach 50,000 such deaths a year. I will remind you that the Third Reich with its Aktion T4 programme (TiergartenstraBe-4) was the first state to introduce euthaniasia on a mass scale. Apart from racial prejudice, the Nazis proceeded from economic considerations. It was expensive to pay for people requiring treatment. This was a tax burden. According to a document found in the Hartheim Euthanasia Centre in Nazi Germany, 70,273 people were killed under the TiergartenstraBe-4 programme by September 1, 1941. An unknown Nazi clerk noted with chilling pragmatism: ‘Considering that these patients could live for another 10 years, this is a saving of 885,439,800 Reichsmarks in total.’ Is the motivation of neoliberal Ottawa different from that of the Reich? Judge for yourselves."

Vanessa Beeley refers to the 'correlation between this act and the covid project,' and also comments, 'what the hell is going on in Canada.'

Maria seems to have the the right of her question, rhetorical at that, which for some Canadians watching answers itself, osit.

Cannot remember all the questions on the last census, as there was a mountain of pages to fill out (by law or else). Would suspect that that data has been carefully assessed and categorized - the aim in Ottawa is usually money and how to save it, and also how to spend it to promote what they think needs promoting. So far, what they might think needs promoting seems to resemble a euthanasian project done on the sly (even if in the unnamed open), a thousand cuts utilizing propaganda and free will until people can't take it anymore or their bodies fall apart, wherein they have the final option.

Alberta's "Sovereignty Act officially passes"

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith’s Sovereignty Act is now officially passed in the Alberta legislature. The law that is designed to give the province the ability to ignore federal laws that it deems harmful to its interests garnered a lot of discussion around the country, including hints that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau may soon fight it.

Plus, a new public opinion survey on Canada’s Premiers shows Quebec’s Francois Legault is a popular figure but Ontario’s Doug Ford is fast losing support.

And tens of thousands of children were targeted by the state for violating covid-19 Quarantine Rules. Was this a good use of our resources?

Er, the war on covid kids:

One can imagine all those citations issued over the phone by PHAC, or by Bylaw officers rounding up the kids (what about around the world), often with police in tow. This reminded me of some kids in Calgary out to skate on the lake around Christmas a few years back, just a pick-up game of shinny. Bylaw came, the police came, and with kids being kids they quickly dispersed, however Bylaw captured the goalie, being not as nimble, as the other kids looked on.

Police cited thousands of children for breaking Quarantine Act

Nearly five thousand children were cited for breaking the Quarantine Act and another 60,000 children under 18 were issued warnings by the suspension of the Act on Oct 1, 2022 according to documents obtained by Blacklock’s Reporter.

The citations were described as “a warning issued in person by a law enforcement officer as a result of non-compliance identified either at the port of entry or during a police check at the traveler’s quarantine address,” wrote Cabinet in an Inquiry of Ministry tabled to the House of Commons.

Most warnings were issued to parents or guardians by inspectors from the Public Health Agency (PHAC). The Agency has issued nearly $15 million in quarantine fines ranging from $100 for children to $275 for travellers suspected of providing false statements. $500 fines were given for “failure to comply with a reasonable measure,” and up to $1,000 fines for illegally entering the country.

More than 48,000 warnings have also been issued to children under 18 over the phone as a result of non-compliance discovered during a verification call, according to the documents. PHAC has not been able to confirm the exact age of travellers who have received warnings.

“Quarantine should never have entered the Canadian vocabulary, especially for the Heathy!” wrote a user on Twitter. “Healthy people sitting home without symptoms for two weeks in what was such a pathetically arrogant policy due to inadequate Health Care.”

From March 2020 to August 2021, the Agency spent $614 million to administer quarantine orders, Covid-19 testing and housing travellers at designated quarantine facilities.

Under the Quarantine Act, dozens of Canadians were wrongly placed under mandatory quarantines due to the federal ArriveCan app. Despite the Trudeau government’s defence of ArriveCan, data shows a total of 1,651,900 travellers entered Canada this year without using the app.

These travellers had “presented themselves at the border for entry into Canada without having submitted their public health information through ArriveCan prior to arrival,” according to documents tabled in the House of Commons last summer.

Lights. Camera. Action!

A phone call on Dec. 15 between Trudeau and Zelensky posted today. The replies are overwhelmingly negative.

Press release overview of phone call.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau speaks with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy

December 16, 2022

Ottawa, Ontario

Yesterday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Prime Minister expressed Canada’s solidarity with the Ukrainian people as they prepare for winter while Russia continues to attack Ukraine’s critical civilian infrastructure. Prime Minister Trudeau reaffirmed Canada’s determination to support Ukraine with military, humanitarian, financial, and other assistance for as long as necessary.

President Zelenskyy thanked Canada for its ongoing contributions to Ukraine, including demining resources, winter gear for Ukraine’s armed forces, and financial support ‒ most recently through the Ukraine Sovereignty Bond. The President also welcomed Canada’s decision to revoke the temporary permit allowing for the repair and return of Siemens turbines for use in the Nord Stream 1 pipeline.

The President also expressed gratitude for Canada’s $115 million contribution to support Ukraine’s energy infrastructure through the World Bank, announced at the December 13 Standing With the Ukrainian People conference in Paris, France.

The two leaders discussed President Zelenskyy’s initiative for a just peace, and Prime Minister Trudeau affirmed Canada’s commitment to support Ukraine in working toward a sustainable peace that secures Ukraine’s free and democratic future, ensures its ability to defend itself, and deters future Russian aggression.

Prime Minister Trudeau and President Zelenskyy also talked about how to support the Global South as it grapples with food and energy crises exacerbated by Russia’s war against Ukraine.

The leaders agreed to remain in close and regular contact.

About that Ukraine Sovereignty Bond (link to the actual overview of the bond here):

Canada disburses $500 million loan to Ukraine from Ukraine Sovereignty Bond proceeds

December 16, 2022 - Ottawa, Canada - Department of Finance Canada

On December 13, 2022, at the Standing With the Ukrainian People conference, the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, presented the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, with a certificate to mark the upcoming transfer of $500 million to Ukraine—the proceeds of the Ukraine Sovereignty Bond.

Today, Canada disbursed the $500 million loan through the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) multi-donor Administered Account for Ukraine.

The Ukraine Sovereignty Bond was issued by the Government of Canada on November 29, 2022, and will assist the Government of Ukraine in continuing to provide essential services to Ukrainians this winter, such as pensions, the purchasing of fuel, and restoring energy infrastructure.

The Ukraine Sovereignty Bond offered Canadians an opportunity to show their support to Ukraine by purchasing the bond in denominations starting at $100. Individual investors purchased nearly $50 million, with the remainder coming from a broad range of domestic and international investors, governments, and institutions. Government investors include the cities of Edmonton and Ottawa, the province of Saskatchewan, and the central banks of Estonia, Lithuania, and Poland.

Quotes

“As the brave people of Ukraine continue their heroic resistance to Putin’s illegal and barbaric invasion, democracies need to continue standing with Ukraine as it defends its sovereignty and democracy. And that means ensuring the Ukrainian government has the resources it needs to keep providing essential services to Ukrainians this winter. I hope the success of our Ukraine Sovereignty Bond—the world’s first bond dedicated to Ukraine—will inspire other countries to follow suit.”

- The Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance
