Celebrations after Argentina's world cup victory

I am not a fan of any sport, though I guiltily tend to watch highlights of few matches of few sports ( as my brain dictates at that time) as a sort of distraction to the madness that is going on this BBM. Every country has their own passions, buildup on major events and obvious heart breaks and so on. Every body knows Messi's magic irrespective of the country and surely felt little sorry for him not getting world cup. What ever may be the reason, I see so much contagious celebration of Argentina's victory in other countries as if every body needs something to celebrate. Probably they are heartfelt singing and dancing instead of drinking and throwing things at opponents (even that can happen). Here are some.

As a football fan, naturally I watched the final. Firstly, this was a phenomenal contest between two very good teams. Secondly, it was fantastic to see two incredible footballers in Messi and Mbappe going head to head. This was the most amazing contest in a WC Final since 1986. France were a bit lethargic until late in the game when they got a second wind of energy, but all in all it was a truly tremendous game played by very skilful players. I do hope the final has been celebrated in good fashion by both sets of fans.

Vamos Argentina! Finally you have an heir to Maradona in Lionel Messi! And commiserations to the French, when they woke up they made a real game of it. Nothing of note to the forum admittedly, but as a fan this was absolutely brilliant sporting entertainment.

I guess a little bit of celebration is what people needs nowadays, even if it’s coming from a popular sport (which I don’t watch) but if at the base these events were made for pure distraction is at least one of the most “sane” distractions out there I think if you don’t become an over fanatic that is.
Putting that on a side I saw some pieces of the match and read some reviews of it and it really seemed like a good one. Congrats Argentina for the victory!!

I watched the game and it was an incredible match... I for one was very happy to see Argentina win it, I've liked Messi ever since I became acquainted with his skill and character.. I also have Argentinian friends and the team really made the effort, they've been at it since 2014!

I for one am not a fan of people loosing a game and rioting on the streets, which I just found out is going on in France over their defeat, which also happened after Netherlands lost, and Morocco.. so that's the ugly side of it.

Now, I understand it serves as a distraction, and there's politics and corruption and so on, it's the circus of our times indeed... But it's archetypical too, perhaps. There's the enjoyment of seeing two formidable opponents compete against one another fairly, that is, under a certain set of rules... I think it speaks to a lot more aspects of our psyche than we realize.

And there's also the memes.. they always win, no matter the score.

This one says: "how are we going to stop Mbappe?" "I've got a plan guys"

PS: It was also rewarding to see Argentina win after that NYT article on "why don't they have more black players.." seriously...
Great game, although at times I did wonder if Argentina were playing the African Continental Team, especially after all the substitutions they made... I know, poor taste of a joke. My apologies if anyone is offended.

The General Law at its finest...lol.

I've football in my blood, was signed to a Premiership club as a boy/young man but alas did not make the grade.

So it's been depressing to gradually realize that the pro game is bread and circuses as Alejo mentions... And it's riddled with political sloganeering in recent times, so I fell out of love with it.

Through all that, however, I have always been mesmerized by Messi. His vision and skill are sublime natural gifts, and I watch videos of his highlights as delightful escapism.

Strange for a 40 year old englishman to say, but i cheered Argentina's richly deserved victory to the rafters. And I think anyone who appreciates watching a genius ply his trade will have delighted in Messi completing his trophy haul.

In Argentina people are effervescent, I lived there for some time and I have family there so I definitely wouldn't like to be in the "quilombo", but I am very happy because the social pressure there has to go down and a little happiness, even if it is vain, doesn't hurt.
