Color “bombs” and waves when meditating

I don’t know if this is the right place to put this. I tried looking somewhere in the forum first for anyone who has had this experience before when meditating. It doesn’t seem to be too uncommon.

I am trying to see if maybe I can get more information on this phenomenon, most times when I try to look this up it’s some new age mumbo jumbo about my Chakras “expressing themselves” or whatever. Could be something like that… doubt it.

Recently (and this has happened in the past for many years when just sitting with my eyes closed watching my breath) while doing Eiriu Eolas, I start seeing a very deep purple “bomb” of color dancing in the darkness of my closed eyes that expands and contracts, almost like a jelly fish facing me. Occasionally green will also join in moving in “waves” with this purple. Very rarely and most recently yellow appears and spins in a spiral clockwise and I can maintain that spin if I’m not distracted by the fact that I am seeing it.

I’m sure others here have had this experience.

Is there actual research for this? Or a reference of this subject anyone knows about? I find this very interesting….

Hi Steph_rivers I had a similar experience to you, with the color bomb phenomena.

I'm not sure if the color matters, or what it means but I personally found this to be like what I call a "staging area"

By that I mean I found it to be a place where you can ask your question. But you have to ask it sincerely, and not anticipate any answer whatsoever, or nothing will happen (for me at least)

The intent of the meditation is important.

So next time you arrive there I would be interested to know if it is the same for you.

Glad you are asking the question here, Steph_rivers as I have always wondered about that, as well. It happened to me the very first time I tried to meditate..40 years ago and has continued off and on since. I have no answer for you but just want you to know I have had the exact experience...the purple is convulsing...jelly fish like is a good description that I never thought of but find to be accurate. I do find it comforting and have just taken it for granted that it is something that happens in my inner world.

So, anyway, before I go to sleep, I do “The Prayer of the Soul”, and most times, the sparkling colors of white, purple, blue appears in my mind’s eyes but when I open my eyes, the same colors and same shape are still showing in the dark space room.

Not going to lie guys, these are all beautiful replies lol. It feels really cool to relate an "inner eyes" experience and hear everyone's personal take on it. It seems as if you all hold it to be a precious place.

I think the most basic explanation is that your "third eye" chakra is opening more. Sometimes I can also see many purple, blue and yellow dots of light when I focus on the "third eye".

Another interesting thing is that I often see something like a small "energy vortex" type thing in front of me (consisting of small white dots), sort of in the distance when it is dark. It happens more often outside. When I tune into it, the sense I get is a connection to Source or Higher Self energy, so maybe it is a way it is helping me connect with it.

Tuning into it is a sort of moving towards it energetically, but I do not see it getting bigger or closer. Maybe it is not even a vortex but my perception of the Source or an aspect of it.
