Publié le 14/10/2019 à 15:33
Heavy rains fell on the Vendée and Nantes Monday early in the afternoon before moving east. Météo-France had placed Monday, October 14, 42 departments of the west of France in orange storms, including Sarthe and Maine-et-Loire.
The sky was darkened suddenly and heavy rains fell Monday early afternoon first on the Vendée then the Nantes agglomeration. Runoffs, hailstorms and violent gusts of wind, the storm was short but dense. He then traced his route to the east.

This stormy episode spawned more than 130 interventions for the department's firefighters, 62 of them for falling trees.
La Roche-sur-Yon and its surroundings were more specifically concerned with a total of 113 interventions out of 133.

Several road accidents were counted without causing any casualties.
According to firefighters, two "mini-tornado" phenomena have impacted the municipalities of Saint-Martin-des-Noyers and La Chaize-le-Vicomte.
In the hamlet of Limouzinières, two families had to be relocated following damage on roofs. According to testimonies, the phenomenon lasted between three and five minutes.

At 2.30 pm, the police of Loire-Atlantique noted the first traffic accidents due to the heavy rains which fell at once on the department and the city of Nantes which were placed in yellow vigilance.

Transport disrupted in Nantes, and on SNCF lines
Due to numerous floods in the city center of Nantes, transport lines are disturbed or even temporarily cut off.

On the SNCF tracks, the traffic was disturbed between Ancenis and Angers because of trees fallen on the tracks.

Big weather so this Monday, October 14 on the west of France. In Pays de la Loire, Sarthe and Maine-et-Loire, had been placed on Monday, October 14, in orange vigil because of a "highly stormy situation".

Too blured, but it does look like red sprites, (seen above the Iztaccihuatl volcano near Popocatepetl) shoud had been far away since sprites appear at 50+ km -- mintute 6:25 (in Spanish) --in some social sites, they are assuming to be volcanic activity, hence the portrait of the video.

Close Encounter with a Gigantic Jet

October 25, 2019 / Dr.Tony Phillips

Oct. 25, 2019: When you see lightning, run! That’s what NOAA advises in lightning safety brochures. On Oct. 15th, however, pilot Chris Holmes had no place to go when lightning started to crackle in thunderstorms around his aircraft.
“I was flying 35,000 feet over the Gulf of Mexico near the Yucatan Peninsula when a super cell started pulsing with light,” he says. “It wasn’t just ordinary lightning, though. The cell was also creating lots of sprites and jets leaping up from the thunderhead.”
At a distance of only 35 miles, he video-recorded this:
